Yeah I enjoyed EnB too, try Eve alot of enb players are moving there, its sorta the same but more complex and takes time to get use to.

Believe me, you arn't the only that is upset at the demise of EnB, there are alot of us out there!  How could EA cancel our game, and let that flop of a mmorpg The Sims Online live??  What the hell is that!  Well, I guess I just am one upset little dude!!

I tried Everquest, didn't like it, I tried EVE, didn't like it, I tried SWG, hated it, I tried City of Heroes (Original idea) but I didn't like it, FFXI, minimum enjoyment there!  Honestly, I just don't seem to have the funds to run around and buy all these games, I live in Canada, FFXI and SWG cost me over $170.00.  I just can't afford to keep buying these games.  At the end of EnB, September 22, 2004, Crazboy retires from the MMORPG universe.  I would like to thank EA for making me loose my MMORPG gaming desire, and if they think they will get another buck out of me .. well they have another thing coming!!

We gotta keep fighting the fight, 5 months and a half to go!!!  Lets try and keep our game alive!

Here Here  I hear you.   I have tried a lot of the other games out there right now and nothing compares to EnB. I finally found a game I'm willing to spend my hard earned money on and they up and cancel it.

    For shame EA  imageimageimageimage

For anyone that need a good replace ment for EB that cant find any good games.... i Recomend Darkspace. It comes with a free 14-day trial and you dont have to pay. you can continue to play, but you cant gain rank when you are not subscribed... it is only 9.99 a month US. and it is Very fun to play. I am one of the more experienced players there. Yuo gain rank and that determains what ships you can use.  (IT is COMPLETELY free to download.... it is around 38 MB's so it is really small... good graphics... 9.8/10 from me.... CHECK IT OUT!!)

If it couldn't get any worse, E&B envited me back with like tons and tons of $$$ and 2 credits. I had cancelled but thought what the hell cause I did miss it, so I rejoined. LMFAO if they didn't send me an email a week later to tell me it was going to be cancelled all together. Well must say that pissed me offimage

I have tried all the games everyone is listing here and evryone listed here sucks and not worth the $$$ to play.

    Someone find a new game....Pleazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!image

LOL...well hell I'm down to one star. Give me something to talk aboutimage

Don't lose all hope.  Perhaps someday they might sell the rights to smaller company to operate EnB.  This has happened in the past with games such as Meridian 59, The Realm and others.  If EA wants to unload the rights at a cheap price there might be a taker out there that feels that they can operate it at a profit by keeping a lower overhead.

Just some thread for you all to hang on to image

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. You, and all the other EnB players, want to see the game shine again.

Hope it does continue to shine....

I just finished playing Lineage 2 ^^ it was a great experience...

gave me a better look of PVP.. well anyways.... Anything cool happening?

I just hope a company that knows how to make a good MMORPG takes in this great idea... and also make it into a better game too

I have been playing EVE in replace of EnB, I wish there was so many thingsthat EnB had that would be put into EVE and visa versa. I signed a petition that was going around to keep EnB going. Dunno if it will do much good, but I hope.

I dunno what EA is thinking. It isn't like they had no one ever playing the game. The servers were at least 40% full everytime I logged on. Hmmm, spend millions of dollars in developement, go for 2 years, thousands of people play, then pull the plug. Was this their intention all along? Make a quick buck and then scoot of to something else?

I hope another company buys it. Because I will no longer play another EA game again, at least an mmorpg they come up with.

  • EvE, Jumpgate, and even Freelancer (think online space version of Diablo 2) are the new games that easily killed off EnB.

Edge of Chaos, and other older space-only MMORPGs which have been going STRONG for YEARS are the older games that killed off EnB.

    New? Jumpgate? ....

Anyhow, I agree with a previous poster that it seems a bit nuts to pull the plug on EnB and yet keep The Sims Online. The best reason that I can think of is brand name recognition.

I didn't find EnB to be a very enjoyable game myself - primarily due to all of the time spent in "warp" - but it seems like quite a waste. I liked it enough initially to buy the full version from the demo CD quite some time back.

I played EnB during Beta and for about 6 months throughout it's release life. To be honest, I thought it was boring. I found myself doing the same things repeatedly for very long periods of time. The only escape was the occasional holiday event which usually amounted to some useless items. Quite frankly, I don't know why EnB lasted this long. I do agree that The Sims Online should be gone as well, and I suspect it will be gone soon. EA has joined Xbox Live and that probably means that we'll see some new MMOG's coming out with their name attached.

All in all, it's about time. EnB was repeateditive, boring, and very lacking in content. It was a great idea that was victim to lack of proper development. I just hope EA finally learns a lesson from both EnB and Sims Online and stops making under-developed MMOG's or the sole purpose of making a couple of bucks. I know that I'll be far more careful of buying anymore EA MMOG's...

This game was worse than crap. Maybe by shutting it down some of you will find something else to play. And you'll all smack your heads for wasting so much time on "earth and be-yawned"...

Maybe to you it was crap, but to the people that play the game it is an enjoyable way to spend a few hours a day.

Eve is crap. Talk about boring.

I totally agree, i almost cried when i heard the new that E&B was going away. As other's have said  there r no MMORPG's that even come close to E&B. Maybe they will come out with a part 2 (Start's to Daydream), it would be niceimage And anthor thing E&B had the best player's.

But it will be missed and at the top of my list for best MMORGP ever.

Earth and Beyond was a good MMO for a while but then it just got boring.  I played the 7 day demo and i did pretty well for myself. THe only problem was warping to the differnet sectors and how only certain factions were allowed in certain sectors and other problems like that

  • runemasterrunemaster Member UncommonPosts: 10

I've played a number of MMORPGs (and I still do), and nothing has come close to Earth & Beyond. I'm looking forward to EQ2, but even things they claim are new and unique made their appearance first in E&B (talking NPCs, components from raids for end items, etc). For those that play down Westwood's original creation, they probably haven't played the game much; sort of like the MOBs that come in and rank games low here on www.mmorpg.com. (Now that I've come back, I see they've implemented a new system which is quite nice!).

Also, I've yet to find another game to play in which doing anything BUT combat is just as exciting AS combat. I mined my way to the top. I partook in raids and what not, but for overall enjoyment, I could sit back and relax, strip-mining most of BBW. There was a sense of accomplishment in the building process too, and E&B had the only system I know of that made player-made items very valuable (because of quality increase). They had a unique way of getting items mapped (reverse engineering at the analysis terms), and made good use of miners' ores.

The game did have flaws, but name me one that did not. Even the whiners whined about the game closing. That's sure sign of a game that was close to everyone's hearts.

  • bestiacorpusbestiacorpus Member Posts: 114

only newbs that played the demo will say EnB suck.

Only the players that really spend time playing the game know the beauty of EnB.  The EnB experience is not in it's first few levels, it's out there waiting to be discovered by a lucky pilot...

Very well put, great game, il miss it extremely, and for you flamers, its getting annoying, anyhow

EA sucks, i cant beleive they killed it...

The only people who hated the game are the ones who never gave it a chance, the ones who got the game, played for a day or 2, and quit, that never got into the storyline, never noticed the evolving complexities, the possibilites! oh the possibilites!

and whoever called us a bunch of treky nerds... your on a websight called mmorpg.com that sais were all nerds.. including you...

Lack of PvP. If EVE had a non PVP server I would be all over it in a heartbeat.
