I'm looking for a game, where you own a farm and work. Pets are optional, but I'd prefer them. 3D would be best, but I'll settle for 2D if there's nothing else. It doesn't even have to be an MMO, just available for PC. Free would suit me best, micro-payments are acceptable. There. Specific enough for ya?

Try Mabinogi (Nexon version). It's supposed to be an online version of Harvest Moon from what I've heard.
Funny, I'm looking for a game like this so I'll be less anxious about the wait for Mabi, it doesn't come out until the middle of feb. Anyways, MAbinogi doesn't have actual farming.

Mabi doesnt have accual farming? isnt it the game with the most harvesting of all time in every aspect? please give details if you have them, I have been waiting on this game for a long time for this sole reason.
LOTRo has a farming element in it and you can have some limited "pets" too.
Otherwise - try SimFARM.
Good luck.
Mabi's farming is actually harvesting. You don't own a farm and you don't go digging in the field and laying seeds. You either buy or craft a sickle and just go to the nearby wheat field and harvest wheat or barley. So in a strict sense it's not farming or herding, just item collecting, Real fun in Mabi is in crafting, the harvesting part is actually quite boring.
SWG has a great pet system, more info here:

The SWG Developers have also mentioned that they would really love to implement a gardening system soon, although currently we have a system of harvesting that may be of interest.
