WoW blamed for VT suicide

Did anyone else hear about this? They're saying that World of Warcraft led to the suicide of a Virginia Tech student.

PS. Sorry if posted before or elsewhere. I'm kinda new.

It's scary that video games and such can be blamed for the actions of an obviously mentally ill person; it's also scary that sometimes the video games and such are, at least in-part, to blame.

The easily influenced are our worst enemy in this country.

What greater tribute to free will than the power to question the highest of authority? What greater display of loyalty than blind faith? What greater gift than free will? What greater love than loyalty?

If you can't blame another person, blame a video game. That's the idea nowadays.

You got that right.  Seems to be a trend with blaming games or movies when someone commits suicide.  Those people doing the blaming need to have a real long look at themselves as its easier to try and shift blame than accept it themselves.

Most of the time the video games help to prevent suicide. Playing video games kept ME from committing suicide, I know that. And why did I run to video games? Because other people made me want to commit suicide. I'd say 9/10 cases video games help, not perpetuate the problem.

can virginia tech be out of the national media for even a week????????????

Anyway WoW didn't cause the suicide an underlying manic depressive personality or something of that nature did.

You cant trust anything you read on xbox forums or xbox magazines. Those people really believe Wii, PS2, Gamecube, and PC games should be downloadable on the XBLA.

  • Before videogames it was heavy metal. Before heavy metal it was Dungeons and Dragons. Before D&D it was rock and roll. Before Rock and Roll it was Elvis. There's always going to be a scapegoat. Which is a shame, because it takes attention from the real culprit...

    ...Harry Potter.

Stupid media. Always gotta have a scapegoat.. I could honestly not care less if he snuffed it from extreme gankage or whatever. He very well may have suicided from WoW, but seriously folks, if you're gonna go from that, it's not the trigger, it's just the cyanide cherry on a big ole' crazy cake. If something as trivial as this set it off, he would have done it anyway.

Admittedly, I found it pretty funny that he got a Cho Seung haircut.

Of course the media needs a scapegoat. They wouldn't get viewers otherwise. Ah...I long for the days where news was news. Not sensational pieces.
