Hey all,

I was wondering what server to go on in DDO? is there any with an Australian population? (since the game is released here, rare btw)

Im not a big D&D fan but i like the the look of the combat system.

Im tossing up between a Healing class or a Magic dps class. I like both types but just not sure which is in more demand for grouping wise.

Also what race with either of those classes?

Thanks :)

First of all, welcome aboard!  Aussies are EVERYWHERE LOL!  I swear to god, I see ANZAC so often I had to google it ;)

That goes for pretty much all the servers as well, so you'll be fine wherever (Sarlona FTW though)

Classes in DDO are very different than the archetypal MMO classes, this is something that's important to know going in.  Cleric (the healing class) can also be a seriously badass melee combatant (battle cleric), for example.  Cleric is, however, a good first class to try out...since it's always wanted/needed by groups...but understand, a lot of groups put pressure on their clerics as well, since they may see them as responsible for party health overall.

Personally, I'd just jump in and start getting my feet wet.  Try a little bit of everything, learn the game mechanics, then start to focus on your first main character.

    See you in Stormreach!

To add to the Aussie thing, there is a fairly large Aussie population on most servers. I am aware of a primarily Aussie guild on Khyber named The Stormreach Thieves Guild, and they are pretty large.

Cleric is one of the best options for first character. You will be most of the time standing at the back and enjoying the dungeon. THe healing is actually less stressing than dpsing, so you will have more time to memorize the dungeons for the next runs (with a different class like a rogue that needs to know all the traps).

In addition, clerics are always wanted. On the other hand, most of the people not only expect you will spend all mana on healing, but also you will be the only one who bring healing wands with you (that cost A LOT of gold and that almost every class can use).

    REALITY CHECK

A bard might be something you want to consider also. Whilst not a magic dps class, they can heal, buff and have probably the best crowd control spells. You could multiclass a couple levels of fighter or even ranger for melee or ranged dps. Bards are always welcome in a group.

You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.
