Nothing to blame the game ofcourse because i want to play it.
I don't see the point in having to pay a retail price for a monthly paid game in the first place. But paying 50 dollars for retail is really really crazy.
So too bad. Good game goes to waste because of crzy producers.

just curious..how much are other pay to play mmos when they are released? cause for all the mmo's I have ever bought...i always remember 40-50 bucks (except the SWG which i bought the collectors addition)
I don't remember a new game that didn't cost $40 or $50 dollars for the box. It includes the first free month too, so it's not like that's any different.
I paid 25 quid for Potbs, which came with 30 days free. Usually MMo's I have bought cost in the region of 30-40 quid.
It shows to me that the sellers don't think they can't get their profit from your regular customers. And the purpose of MMO's is you get regular customers, right?? And yeah, other games have the same pricing because you keep paying up. Besides, most of them have the same producers so its not really a suprise.
So I'm gonna wait untill they drop the price. Too bad for the people who paid allready but its just too ridiculous.
Have fun without whining old me though. :P
Very little of the $50 game box proceeds goes to FLS. Game box sales cover the marketing, distribution (both SOE), game box design, manual printing, and retail markup. In addition, SOE may be paying a "slotting allowance" for the retailer to display the game on an aisle end cap along the store "race track".
Generally WOW and The Sims have the end cap concession, but SOE may decide to make that move if sales take off.
FLS also has to pay SOE for servers too, I believe.
So, until the first 30 day trial period is up, FLS is generating alot of expenses, and very little cash flow.
Which is why their customer service should be concentrating on retaining customers past the 30 day period, not on banning gold farmers.
What he said.

Any new game is $50, be it FPS, RPG, RTS, or MMO. The $15 a month you pay after you get the game is for the continued develoment of the game (patches, content expansions, ect). EvE is a perfect example of this. Say what you want about the game play but the expansions they add are larger then most other MMO expansions and they dont charge you another $50 on top of the monthly fee to do that.
Any other game you buy gives you the game and 1-3 minor patches in the next year normaly only fixing bugs, small ballence tweaks, and maybe 1-2 new maps.
Yes, if you wait 2-3 months after release of any game you can normaly get it for $10-$15 cheaper but personaly I dont have the self control to wait that long to play a game that looks sweet.
50 $ is like 320 swedish crowns.. its nothing for a mmo..
EvE is probably the worst example to use, WoW is probably a better example to use. I have to say that paying for a boxed MMO and Expansions is a real turn off for me. I really dont care that I get the first month free, Im happy to pay from the start or even better right after a free trial ends.
Its sad that a demofree trial is needed now days but certain companiy has destroyed any trust people had in game developers. i'm not talking about Sony either.
Ange
Lets put into perspective, for a European person subscription wise it's...
£9.99 per month
WoW - £8.99
Any NC SOft game - £8.99
LOTRO - £8.99
Vanguard - £9.50
so i'm paying that extra £1, for a bugged game where they can't even get the unrest exploit fixed, they can't yet work out a way in order to make MoVs balanced.
and some of the fixes that were given to them in beta won't be fixed until 1.3 which may be 2 months after retail.
for what it IS, it isn't worth it.
You gotta understand some people are just not interested in those types of games. You could compare PotBS with EVE or even Team Fortress, it would make more sense.
you have to realize that we are still in the first month on release, the majority of mmos have all released at a 50$ price tag. after about 3 months they go down to 30$
FLS are hoping players will pay over the top for their game that cost a fraction of the other SOE releases to develop.
All they are doing is cashing in on the early minority fanbois.
If prices don't drop soon expect the low populated servers to be merged or at worst it will become free-to-play cash shop Potbs.
Hillarious Post. Something for nothing I love it just let me laugh a little more.
Not crazy at all just reality, the game hasn't gone to waste you just don't get the chance to enjoy it..
Does that bother me .. no not really .... I feel for your future if decisions are made like this on such trivial amounts of money...

I feel for your future if you don't think things over. I feel more people would start and keep on playing if the marketing and pricing of these games wouldn't be so obviously based on profit. If players like you keep on blindly trowing money at them we will never see a game which truly caters the players.
Anyway. I just bought the game half price from someone. CU ingame.
