    What is the definition of griefing?  In this case, in my opinion, it is what one person continually makes it difficult for another person.  If I hide and wait for someone to get to 20% hp, then kill them.. how is that different from bringing a friend?  Two against one isn't fair, just like waiting for the most advantageous opportunity to strike.  So, after the first or second time this happens, the victim has an option.  Go find another place to fight, in PvE lands if all else fails, bring a friend to combat the problem directly, or continue to be fodder for the attacker.

     

     

    90% of the griefing that happened in other games involved players of much higher level killing players of much lower level, for no purpose other than just to kill them and feel superior.  EA Mythic has destroyed this form of griefing entirely by adding the chicken and chaos chicken.

     

    In my opinion, any other form of griefing is part of war.  After all, isn't that what this game is supposed to be about?  This is the same thing that destroyed Ultima Online back in the day.  A bunch of the carebears whined about getting killed, and getting their things stolen.  So Origin decided to make the whiners happy and created a powder puff girls copy of the same land world, and allowed these babies to go play in their non-threatening candy cane, butterfly field frolicking, carebear inffested tea party universe.  That destroyed the risk vs. reward atmosphere that the game was founded on and created one world with hardcore PvP and another world with lame crying baby PvE.

     

    The more games that come out that allow the whiners to get everything they want, the worse the MMO genre will become.  Removing stealth is just a small step of many that will contribute to the downfall of good MMO's.  I'm really hoping for some sort of hiding.  If it doesn't happen, I'll still play.. I'll just be disappointed.



    Maybe you should go play Conan if this is the sort of gank fiesta warfare your looking for.  Real warfare isn't about hitting some 'invisibility' button and shooting people continously for laughs which is exactly the kind of stealth we're against.  If you know how to use the lands around you to take someone out before they find you thats truth tactical stealth and you don't need an ability button in order to do that.   The whole namby bamby boo hoo they took out Ganking in UO cry isn't the kind of game WAR fans are hoping for. 

     

    UO free for all PVPing old school style is completely different than Realm vs Realm warfare.   Just because people got tired of being mobbed by 50 murderers waiting under an invisibility spell and Origins had the balls to try and stop it (though I agree their method of stopping it was utterly ridiculous, they should of implemented perma death chances for those who earned the rank of murder) doesn't make the game candy land much less carebearish since all the really good stuff in the game remained on the PvP side of the shard so you still had to risk alot in order to experience deeper parts of the game.  

    Your attitude alone from the name calling makes me hope you don't play WAR, we need realm minded people not free for all gankers.

    First off, if you knew anything about the game back when it was good.. murderers rarely worked together, and there would rarely be more than two or three if they did.  I know 50 is an exaggeration, but I think you went a little too overboard.

     

    AoC isn't the game for me.  I choose what I want to play, not you.  Apparently you missed the part where I said, I will play anyways.  And lastly, I wasn't name-calling.  If you take the word carebear or whiner or crybaby as being offensive,  then that is a fault of your own.

    So in other words, "PvP" means slaughtering easy targets for "fun" for you?

    I never understood why PvP-advocates weren't satisfied playing between specialists... they always need those so-called "carebears" to have fun themselves, as if playing against equally skilled gankers was too much for them.

    Actually, if you bothered to read my entire post.. you would understand what I was saying.  My point is that ganking and griefing is part of war.  If things can be improved, then I'm all for it.  I was using UO as an example showing how companies today are catering to the people who want less and less violent interaction between others and for it to be perfectly balanced if that has to happen.  Origin destroyed UO, then EA came along and further drove it into the ground. 

     

    But, if you actually took the time to read objectively.. I wouldn't have to be explaining everything I type.

    That's what I'm saying. I'm not advocating invisibility - just some form of stealth. Try not to think of the word stealth as it applies to WoW as that is ridiculous.

    Then you maybe should have been more specific in the first post ! Because first law of mmo topics , says that anything degenerate into a WOW topic , unless all posters are very firm about avoiding it. So don't use a term from WOW , there for so many people means invisible , in another way with out defining its use then!

     

    And I know many poster here , that have said in this topic there will be no (WOW) stealth , and the know well and could have told you alot about how cower are planned to be part of the game. And some even did!

    and by the way to noradxxx didn't you already get 1 link to a place where mythic says "No stealth"

    I think there will be a form of it in game. show me evidence that points to the contrary or wait with everyone else for release (or beta).

    Thats all devs need to have incorporated and then stealth can be 100% player-skill.
      Never really understood why we don't have control over our own name display.  Does it really matter if you see your enemies name while you are  killing them?  At least give players the option to turn their names off to the opposing side, that can't be too hard to add.

    Here is the evidence:

    At roughly 5:10 Paul states that Mark Jacobs, the lead designer, does not want to include stealth or any griefing-related activity, even things like ambushing. This isn't even the best evidence there is, just the one I remembered. I have read and watched so much these past couple years that I no longer know where a lot of the information came from.

    Considering that only one career is left and no career has been mentioned having stealth yet, at all, the odds that any will are very slim, especially in light of EA Mythic stating numerous times that there will not be. Also, High Elves are not a candidate for stealth, especially since there would be no stealth career on Destruction unless that gets implemented now, after all the announcements. Oh, and the last Hgih Elf career is almost guaranteed to be the White Lion, and that is definitely not a stealth career.

    At best, if there is anything related to stealth at all, it will be so far removed from the "magically vanish" type that calling it stealth would be a bit of a misnomer.

    Anyway, people can cling to a massive string of "ifs" and "maybes" all they want to, but the reasonable person would admit that the inclusion of stealth is extremely unlikely. Of course nothing is ever certain, but banking on uncertainty is asinine.

    I played the game off and on since launch don't assume I only started during the Trammel fiasco.  I hated it as much as anyone else.  Murderers and the guilds that became murderering guilds killed the game.  You couldn't even walk out to mine ore BUTT naked with nothing but an pick axe on you without some jerk showing up on a horse and fire balling you in the back, they risked nothing and got nothing other than jollies and it was extremely annoying.  UO's original form did not promote community at all.   UO was a gank fiesta and all the people who mourn its pvp's were the contributers to Origins thinking they even needed to constantly fix it.

     

    carebear, whiner and crybaby are offensive terms to PvE'ers period.
