Or atleast offer a lifetime membership option like LOTRo did!
I'd certainly go with a lifetime membership, but DDO has absolutely no business thinking about F2P. Their content update system is WAY above almost every other MMO on the market, and all of it is at no additional charge already.
p.s. What I'd REALLY like to see, btw, is a "Turbine Pass"

Yup would agree on a turbine pas but in saying about F2P a lot of games like archlord, anarchy and RF online have been very successful in there new micro payment options and then theres guild wars with its skill buying and expantion sets, seeing DDO is based on possibly the best rpg ever they could take a leaf from D&D advanced and release payed only modules, it may well be a very lucrative step.
DDO's biggest issue as far as growth, unfortunately, is advertising...and nothing can change that, including going F2P.
They have enormous restrictions placed on them regarding marketing and advertising by Atari.
Frankly, I think what they're doing is the best bet...keep building on the game and making it really strong, get the word out via things like the latest Gamespy article, and hope for an EVE like number, where it grows 50k or so per year.

I would LOVE a Turbine Pass.
I absolutely love AC1 and I had a lot of fun in LotRO as well. I am really liking the changes to DDO as well, so an all access pass would make me very happy.
How can you email the new CEO? They got an Office@turbine.com , but I don't know and doubt that would reach the people that would make it possible in putting in a Turbine Pass type thing. I figure if we could bug the new CEO maybe he would listen.
I highly doubt DDO would ever become F2P, they would much rather shut it down like AC2 than find other options for it, but that's just my opinion.
I would however be very much in favor of a Turbine Pass type thing. They should just get the stinking bean counters to pull up some numbers and get to it!
Yeah its really cool that they are adding all these new features. They must be working quite hard to make the game awesome. I still think it has lots of potential and i guess they do too, I hope they keep it up.
Started playing mmorpg's in 1996 and have been hooked ever since. It began with Kingdom of Drakkar, Ultima Online, Everquest, DAoC, WoW...

The latest patch mentions a "fix" for rubber-banding. Can anyone verify how true this is in towns. Thanks.
I don't agree with the F2P option. Although I see many people asking for it, I just don't see Turbine going in that direction. DDO is a solid product with excellent content and room for advance. I believe they have good numbers and will continue to grow. I kinda' think people who want F2P for DDO are just looking for a free way of playing a great game and that should not be the case. The only way for DDO to really expand in a significant way is to have a steady monthly income from subs. I just don't see 'pay for content' expansions doing this.
I agree about the pass! ... I've been back and forth with DDO since release a few times now. I really love the system and game play, it really is different from other MMOs on the market [imo]. If I were able to have a life time membership I would subscribe without hesitation. The only reason I am not with DDO right now is due to my friends playing other games, however, a pass would allow me to play this and other games without too much trouble.

Point #5 in the DDO patch notes reads, - "Fixed an issue where other player's movement may appear to stutter" - Possibly what your referring to, I couldn't find any other mention of player stuttering or rubber banding in the notes. This morning I began taking notice if the player stuttering that I experience, particularly when the area is loaded is still taking place. Unfortunately last night I was so engrossed in the content additions that I didn't take notice. This morning I did not see any banding at all however this was during the servers slowest hours. I'll pay more attention tonight when things are busy.

Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.
Amen!
I've been paying to pay DDO for over 18 months now and it has been worth every penny. Give me quality over quantity any day!
You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.

Hmm, not seeing that anywhere in the release notes...but I never have rubberbanding either, so not really sure.

PLEASE Turbine take my $ for a lifetime pass!!!
F2P won't happen, but /sign I want a Turbine Pass or Lifetime membership like LOTRO. AC, DDO, LOTRO - a Turbine pass would be the Creme-de-la-creme!
