Crafting 101

DDO has posted a guide to using the new Eldritch Devices for crafting located here and it sounds a lot more in depth than I thought it would be!  Pretty excited to start using it :)

Man that sounds awsome as hell....I just hope they have a decent drop rate otherwise we'll be grinding forever especially on the dragonshard fragments.  They need a huge upgrade..I dont think I've had a dragonshard drop for me in two months.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

The fragment drop rate is TOTALLY different to the actual shards, no worries ;)

From the link above, it appears that crafting is only for raiders [Need the green steel only found in raids].  Sure, if you don't raid you can make the ingredients for those who do, but you can't craft anything on your own [or at least so it appears from the official page linked above].  It also appears that what you craft is junk way below your level [a level 8 warhammer after getting all five raid items to form the Signet Stone, plus the green steel, plus the other ingredients - ???].

Please someone who has done this on Risia, tell me how I am wrong and that you can craft things that are useful at your level and that non-raiders will be able to craft useful items, too.

No "Healing Poltices" [same effects as CLW potion, but almost no vendor value]?  No magic arrows/bolts?

LOL!  You didn't look too close at that hammer, eh?

+5 warhammer, gives +8 dexterity, casts delayed fireball blast, and has "incineration" effect...

Yes, you have to at least do SOME of the raid it appears to get the greensteel items, but also bear in mind this is just the first part of crafting being introduced.

You dont have to do the raids for anything..just the Pre Raids and the Pre Raids are normal 6 person groups & you dont have to wait 2 to 3 days to repeat them either.

It does say you have to do raids for energy cells but that those same energy cells are available from a vendor.   I think they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they required you to do the actual Raid to Make these items.

All those effects and it is only min level 8?!  That sounds like a bug...shouldn't those effects raise the level requirement of the object? [If it is automatically bound, I guess it doesn't matter]

play twinked or don't play at all? [Unless it is auto-bound]

I was just hoping to see something that could be used by ALL level players.  I wouldn't even mind if they put in crafting feats.  I just hate that you have to an 11th+ level character to craft.  I wouldn't mind a limited list of things that I could craft [potions at level 3; scrolls at level 1 per every edition of D&D] and having to run around gathering ingredients; I just hate feeling excluded.

Perhaps I should just buy an account or a pile of plat.... [ok, I wouldn't do that but I can see the temptation!]

It is auto bound.  The crafting will expand, this is simply the prototype for it, and even at that there's 1200 or so recipes.

If you want to make the good craftable items, you will have to raid.  If you want to 'craft' tier 2 components and sell them, or add minor effects to your current items like increasing the hardness, you can do that without raiding.
