Frogloks NOT playable on release!

The Froglock will be available after a server-wide quest is completed. They will not be available as a player race on launch day as a result, although you will see Froglok NPC's in game.

    HAHA leave it to SoE to "Promise" something then not have it at release... *Cough* Vehicles and Mounts for SWG which we didnt get till 3-4 months later *Cough*.... Looks like SoE is at it again in my book. Doesnt look good IMO

    They HAVE Frogloks at release, but only as NPCs.
    So the models/skins are ready...still why they don't make them playable is beyond me.

    That's the first argument I've heard that would support P vs P in the game (giving players a chance to prevent the Froglock quest from being completed).  Too many cats, frogs, and lizards in the character race mix.

    STORY! They are not making them a playable race because we probably have to discover them or something. Do you really want EVERYTHING handed to you on a plate? This makes things interesting and don't worry, once the game goes live the "uber" people will unlock them in a week...

    All part of the storyline, I've read nothing which would indicate they're not READY to be played or won't be ready at release, so no, it's not a lie. In fact if there are going to be Froggy NPCs wandering around then that gives every indication that the race IS ready to be played and they are infact only doing it for storyline reasons.

    Look on the plus side, the quest should be cool. A ton of players all going on the same quest, yummy. I hope it is really hard and requires around 200 people. ::::20::

    if theyre ready to be played then the only reason i can see for this is just the experience- maybe by doing this quest u will find out alot about the condition of norrath and there will probablybe more quest unlocking more things in the future. i give this idea 2 thumbs up. imageimage

    Precisely as in Horizon.....

    I left that game for 2 specifik reasons.

    1. Is was not done

    2. Cool (and this goes out to everquest 2 also) to have a serverwide quest btu DAHM it was shitty in horizon... crafting, crafting, crafting. I hope they have been more imaginatice at SOE

    Yeah server wide quest in horizons was a pain and a chore, this sounds like they took the idea from that game also.

    The negative side is, that the frogloks won't be balanced in the beta.

    Another negative is for all those people who are set on being a froglok will have to wait who knows how long, they should not have announced frogloks as a playable race. I would be mad if i was set on being a race and they listed it online and in previews as a playable race and then i could not be it at the start and all your firends will have a bifg headstart on you.

    I think its a cool idea to have storylines like Horizons. Makes things interesting. As far as their not being balanced; dont bet on it. They will do a beta, I'm sure, before its possible for the quest to be complete. Thats why MMORPGs have test servers. :)

    I was going to start the game being a  Froglok!

    Oh well.................. lets hope the quest will be fun (and add EQ lore)

    It will probably be a very easy quest that you can complete when you first start out.. maybe jsut traveling and talking to people... That or froggies are being held captive but ogres or something weird and people have to go save em.. *shrug*

    This is eriely similar to announcing Jedi as a playable race in SWG then announcing that you had to "Become" a jedi and they didnt tell you how. But the thing was the jedi werent even ready which is why they werent in game. Seems SoE is doing the same thing here with frogloks. And before you say "There are froglok NPCs in game so the race is done" BULLSHIT! There were jedi NPCs in the beginning of SWG but they never had force powers or even a glowing lightsaber (Just a gray stick). So to say that because they have froglok NPCs doesnt mean that the PC race froglok is ready to play.

    Personally I don't mind if the Frogloks are not going to be playable at release. But that's probably because I've never wanted to play as a lizard, mouse, or whatever in a MMORPG. But if it truly a server wide quest that actually works right and is fun... I'm all for it! On the darker side of things it could be like Vakktn said, I just hope SOE doesn't pull some of the same crap that they did with SWG.

    In respond to the 200 people to kill it comment. I would think it would be much more as 200 people could be a single guild formed from an uber EQ1 guild? Im guessing more in the 500 range but hey i wouldnt know. As far as complaining, this is something new to mmorpgs and i look forward to the quest
