Hey, I need some suggestions for a new game. I'll start with my background/previous games, and PC stats
Background: Started out on MUDs/RPGS (nintendo/etc forward), have played MMORTS (shattered galaxy, planetside), regular MMORPG (from diablo, hellgate, etc to everquest, Matrix Online, EQ2, FFXI, Wow, DAOC, Fury, GW, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online (closed beta thru release), Eve - trial only), chinese grindfests (flyff, SCO, Cabal, RYL), FPS's (HL TF2, everything from doom to quake, heretic, BF2142, Natural Selection, Savage, etc..from pure action to teamplay style games to LAN fragfests), to pure strategy (WC3FT, Starcraft, SupCom)...but I've yet to find anything other than Wow to really hold my interest for a seriously extended period of time. Basically I've been gaming my whole life through this and that, but I want to find something new.
The problem is, being someone who easily get sucked into games, Wow has come to a point where I need to separate from it....its just absorbing too much time and with a new Xpac coming, its just not worth it anymore. So I am looking for a new game to fuel the addiction, but I want something that is MMO and unique and not just a well disguised grind-fest. Something with a decent community of people. If its a pay game is not a concern, but as example even Guild Wars gets old after a while (but nice to return to once in a bit). I want something challenging. I've not looked into this hardcore, but Eve seems to be the only thing that appears to be a potential. But I'd like to see other people's opinions.
My system is a E6700 with 3 gigs of ram and an 8600GT 512MB that runs up to 1680x1050 with a separate monitor to dual 1440x900 if needed, so it is a pretty decent performing mid-level PC.
With that said, what suggestions do you guys have of other MMO's that are coming up or out that are worth taking a look?

I wrote an article on how to find a new MMORPG on my website (Below). However, it appears that you have a fairly vast collection of prior MMORPGs. given your experience you are likely aware that most people are awaiting the arrivals of WAR, AoC, AION, Spellborne etc. Since you are burnt out on WoW, you may want to consider going retro and returning to a game you enjoyed before. Many of the older games (EQ1, DAOC, UO, etc) have changed so significantly that they seem like an entirely new game. Youve tried EvE (trial period) if you liked that game I would continue with it. ALso you may want to consider Star Wars Galaxies (which is one of the few not listed in your prior collection)
Good Luck
Torrential
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Ahh thank you,I think I will give Eve another shot probably. I didn't try SWG but I heard it was a bit of an odd game between falling apart community wise/support wise and overall imbalance (Jedi = superpower). Also I've seen your cemetary site before, and have indeed been contemplating retro.
I guess from the searching for a well done commercial MMO we're all in limbo right now. I just took a look at the Mabinogi to give the frontpage ad a decent chance, but it appears to be a grind-fest with another "use money as a crutch" game.

Might also check out AO again. The game is a far cry from what it was at release and they have a new game engine coming online later this year.

Hmm that game seemed to have some odd quirks to me, but I will take a look I guess. I seem to remember it being buggy beyond belief but I suppose as long as the expansions and whatnot aren't going to cost me an excessive amount I may give that a look as well.

It had a terrible launch and it took them several months to get it really functional, but that was 2001. Now you can play the 'core' game (AO + Notum Wars expansion) for free (free download and no subscription). You can buy the Shadowlands expansion for $10 and the subscription rate is $5/mo. Or you can get all the expansions for $20 and the subscription rate is $15/mo (or down to $10/mo if you pay by the year).
