The only MMO I've personally played that had a similar FPS style combat control was Dungeons and Dragons Online. It's vastly different in many other ways but is similar in that you have far more control of individual attacks as well as positioning and mobility being important to success (a vorpal dosen't hurt either).
It's much more dynamic gameplay than traditional MMO's of the "tab to target, hit attack and then occasionally click abilites as their timers run down, rinse and repeat" style but here are people who prefer that .
There's more to MMO's than the combat though so other aspects of DDO may leave you cold.

yeah I have tryed ddo.. just the trial for 7 days but still.. is it 100% instanceD? that stinks.. mean instances take away alot of the "mmo" part of the game.. playing ts and there are some instances but.. didnt they say that there where going to be like 40% instanced stuff ? leaves alot of non instanced to me ^^
All the content except town areas up to pre-module 5 is instanced, and it really did kill any open-world feeling.
The newer content has moved away from this to more mainstream MMO open areas but before that they tried to keep people playing by intoducing a favor system that required regrinding of most of the content to unlock a new race, subscription cancelled.

Dang never knew there was a new race called Subscription Cancelled.
Do they have the "Bored but more Money" racial abilities ?
Star Wars Galaxies has a very similar combat system. You aim with the mouse click to shoot, or swing your weapon, and press coresponding abilities to use differant attacks. It's kinda cool, but the game itself isn't that great anymore.

The instancing of TR is baiscally similar to EQ2 not to DDO.
But the combat system is basically most similar to Neocron and DDO. AoC will be more like DDO, but with more fighter game style combo, than it will be like TR. Because TR is basically mostly shooting and AoC is more melee. And the shooting is bows/crossbows so you will need to lead things etc, which is more like DDO.
As a sidenote. If you want combat like that in an MMO, you may have to resign yourself to heavy instancing due to lag and other technical issues.
There is a reason that TR is auto hit even though it has perfectly fine collision detection. I believe TR actually has bigger zones than some Beta leaks indicate AoC's zones are.
TR has good sized zones defintely takes a while to cover an enitre outdoor instance.
