I’ll start it off…
--------------------------------------------
PVP :Planetside
gives the most fair odds to each team. Fights are super-intense with a lot of people
PVE :Everquest
in its prime, it was the best
Character customization (appearance) :City of Heroes
can anyone give an example of one that does it better??
Character customization (skills/abilities) :World of Warcraft
this answer leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I can’t think of one offhand that does it better
Best visual/graphical effects :City of Heroes
I just loved the eye candy in this game. Super job on effects
Most bug free :World of Warcraft
beta was the last time it crashed, or had a really significant bug that I can remember
Most bugs :Planetside
don't think I've ever played one with more bugs than this (never played Vanguard)
Best community :Everquest 2
nicest people in any MMO that I’ve played
Worst community :World of Warcraft
just one of the major factors that kept me from playing steadily
Best immersion :Dungeon & Dragons Online
great dungeon crawl feel to it. Actually felt like I was in the place. Pretty creepy.
Most “grindy” :City of Heroes
great game, but WAY too repetitive, with nothing to do but fight, fight, and then fight again
Least “grindy” :Planetside
never felt tedious at all. Nothing to grind except other human players
Best interface :World of Warcraft
this game's interface spoiled me for other games. CoH comes in second
Longest played (total time) :Everquest
about 4 years, 99-2004, with some breaks
The one (or more) you “keep coming back to”:Planetside/World of Warcraft
I check them out very occasionally after a significant update
One you would NEVER go back to :Tabula Rasa
such a disappointment for me from a very anticipated sci-fi. Well, there's always Fallen Earth /prays
Most overall fun (could list more than one):Planetside/Everquest
I can’t remember any games giving me more fun experiences than these two
Bonus question - Most anticipated MMO :Warhammer Online
I can still hope someone will break the current MMO stagnation, can’t I ??

PvP
Eve-Online and GuildWars, for different reasons. GuildWars is pure PvP, if you skip the PvE. I actually like it. Liked.
Eve-Online has that "I am part of a huge war and will change history"-PvP. I love it for giving me that feeling.
PvE
Who cares for PvE? Guildwars i guess. At least it has the most interesting Quests.
Character customization (appearance)
Can't really comment on that, because i do never really care for it.
Character customization (skills/abilities)
Same as above
Best visual/graphical effects
Best visual Style-Award goes to Eve. It has its edges if you look closely, but the overall style is great. Same goes for Guildwars, the visuals are extremely good, even on really low end machines.
Most bug free
Guildwars again. I have not encountered any.
Most bugs
Vanguard?
Best community
Eve-Online. Most mature community i have ever seen. Even the ones who get spanked are mostly nice and your arch enemy greets you. Mostly.
Worst community
Guildwars. I do not play f2p-games and heard very bad things of their "community", but of all the games i own this one has the most childish, immature and stupid community. Actually, it doesn't have a community, but a horde of barbarians as players.
Most grindy
Lineage 2. Hands down, this game IS pure grind. It is made of it.
Least grindy
Eve-Online. Nothing forces you to do anything repetitive to progress (although it helps).
Best interface
Eve-Online. It actually feels like the UI of an operating system. But it does it's job very, very well. After that, my vote goes to Gw. Again. That "mmo" is haunting me somehow.
Longest played (total time)
Eve. I have two accounts, that counts twice i think.
The one (or more) you keep coming back to
Still Eve. I take breaks from time to time, but return to it. It spoiled any other mmo for me..
One you would NEVER go back to
Swg and Guildwars. Swg is dead for me, Guildwars community is braindead and grouping is a pain. (May be because i like to play healers. You know who is responsible for a wipe, don't you?)
Most overall fun (could list more than one)
Eve-Online > Swg > UO > Guildwars.
Bonus question - Most anticipated MMO
Wurm Online. Terraforming, farming (literarily. Sow, rake, farm, bake bread), building stuff. I love it, for it's hardcore.
PVP : Planetside
PVE : Hellgate
Character customization (appearance) : City of Heroes
Character customization (skills/abilities) : SWG (orig)

Most bug free : City of Heroes

--------------------------------------------
PVP I consider it a bad mistake to lump all PvP together so I will split it up.
Best match play - Guild Wars. Best World PvP, I guess EvE because its the only one with real world PvP.
:
PVE I can't say each have their strong points. I would go with CoX and DD. I can't fairly rate any EQ clones I am simply tired of them and find them boring. Not saying they are bad just saying I can't rate them fairly. I never liked EQ either. :
Character customization (appearance) CoX, is this even disputed really? :
Character customization (skills/abilities) CoX the IO system is huge, Guild Wars and Eve as well :
Best visual/graphical effects This is pure taste but Guild Wats, LOTRO, and EVE :
Most bug free Not sure, Guild Wars seems really solid. WoW is good buut there are a number of long standing bugs I know of. :
Most bugs Neocron, although I know of others I haven't played that are probably worse :
Best community CoX :
Worst community Guild Wars :
Best immersion Really depends on the activity DDO can be good while solo in a dungeon, Eve can be very immersive, CoX is great when you are jumping across buildings etc :
Most “grindy” EQ1? FFXI? CoX; depending on how you react to spawn model :
Least “grindy” Guild Wars :
Best interface Guild Wars for slickness, old WoW for variety :
Longest played (total time) Not sure actually :

Thats the problem with potbs. It is good, but it is not outstanding.
PVP :Lineage 2 / Planetside / DAoC
PVE :Asheron's Call
Character customization (appearance) : City of Heroes / Pirates of the Burning Sea
Character customization (skills/abilities) :Asheron's Call / old SWG / Ryzom / EVE
Best visual/graphical effects :hmmm...most look the same to me lol although the worst was the new version of SWG, it has this blinding stobe flashing for explosions. Gives me a headache.
Most bug free :WoW or LotR maybe
Most bugs :Vanguard's claim to fame
Best community :subjective although I had the most fun with the people of Lineage 2.
Worst community :gotta say, GW or any F2P. WoW players...I don't like to stereotype but I played the game for 8 months...yikes guys, very sad community. I didn't know you could pack that many knotheads into one place. I'm sure its against some sort of zoning law.
Best immersion :Asheron's Call
Most “grindy” :Lineage 2
Least “grindy” :GW
Best interface :Horizons. You could set it up however you wanted. I wish more games would do their UI like this.
Longest played (total time) :Lineage 2
The one (or more) you “keep coming back to”:Lineage 2
One you would NEVER go back to :EQII, EQ, DDO, RFO, Tabula Rasa - all games I would rather poke my eye out with a spoon then play again.
Most overall fun (could list more than one):can't really pin one down, any game I spent more then a few weeks with I found fun for different reasons
Bonus question - Most anticipated MMO Fallen Earth and AION
PVP : World of Warcraft arena, Gw and Planetside (never got into GW nor DaoC early enough and Eve was just... too slow for me)
PVE : Everquest II, *alot* of content
Character customization (appearance) : CoX because it's customizable even though I really dislike the super hero look
Character customization (skills/abilities) : WoW
Best visual/graphical effects : Eve-Online
Most bug free : Eve-Online from my experience
Most bugs : Vanguard. Way to go Sigil.
Best community : Everquest 2
Worst community : WoW
Best immersion : Anarchy-Online because it was my first, it just seemed believeable to me at the time
Most “grindy” : Lineage 2
Least “grindy” : Guild Wars, Planetside
Best interface : WoW, Eve-Online and GW in that order. The icons/actionbars in Everquest 2 along with how hard it is to customize properly really ticks me off
Longest played (total time) : Anarchy-Online/WoW 2 years each
The one (or more) you “keep coming back to”: WoW
One you would NEVER go back to : With enough upgrades anything could be playable in my opinion
Most overall fun (could list more than one): Anarchy-Online for reasons mentioned earlier
Bonus question - Most anticipated MMO : Aion and Fallen Earth
PVP : Asheron's Call Darktide (simply insane with no rules what so ever)
PVE : Asheron's Call (great sandbox with quests that weren't obvious)
Character customization (appearance) : City of Heroes
Character customization (skills/abilities) : Toss up between Asheron's Call and Star Wars Pre CU depending on your style of play
Best visual/graphical effects : Vanguard looks beautiful but the character models kind of suck
Most bug free : Had the least issues with Guild Wars
Most bugs : If anyone puts anything other then Vanguard you are playing f2p games
Best community : Asheron's Call pre 03/04 time frame
Worst community : The Jedi's after the death penalty was removed in Star Wars Galaxies. I went from hiding in the middle of nowhere terrified to come out or be seen to watching jerks pk in the middle of quads "LOL"-ing (is that a word?) at all the n00bs because they weren't as 133t as they were.
Best immersion : Asheron's Call I didn't sleep all through high school because of that game
Most “grindy” : Tabula Rasa
Least “grindy” : Asheron's Call People always had a BS adventure to go on, so much fun!
Best interface : I actually liked EQ2 the best for this
Longest played (total time) : Asheron's Call (4 years) Star Wars Galaxies (launch until NGE)
The one (or more) you “keep coming back to”: Asheron's Call but I am over it now because there is nobody there
One you would NEVER go back to : WoW the amount of people yeilds way too many jerks (not that the MAJORITY of people are not ok). Star Wars Galaxies is also one I will never go back to.
Most overall fun (could list more than one): Loved Asheron's Call and Star Wars Galaxies pre CU
Bonus question - Most anticipated MMO : I really don't know at this point, I don't like cookie cutter classes (95%+ of MMO's). Locked in classes = No thank you to me.

PVP :Ultima Online

I think a couple of categories you could have throw in are "Best ingame Economy" as some games you live and die based on your ability to generate cash and "Best Crafting".
Its to bad more people didn't take the time to fill this out. There are some surprising answers. More then a few closet L2 fans.
--------------------------------------------
PVP :Guild Wars
My original answer was PVP LOL!
PVE :City of Heroes
I would have given this to pre-CU SWG, for the AI, but it was still buggy as hell.
Character customization (appearance) :City of Heroes
Nothing comes close.
Character customization (skills/abilities) :Saga of Ryzom
The Matrix Online would be a not so distant second, but Ryzom's customization really couldn't be beat.
Best visual/graphical effects :The Matrix Online
Rip on the game or the movies all you want, but MxO's graphics are not only authentic to the IP, but hold up amazingly well on low-end machines.
Most bug free :City of Heroes
I've been playing since launch, and I think the servers have been down for no more than two or three days, total.
Most bugs :Star Wars Galaxies (any version)
I've played shareware games with less bugs than this.
Best community :Saga of Ryzom
2nd place would be a tie between City of Heroes and the Matrix Online.
Worst community :World of Warcraft
Hands down, the worst.
Best immersion :Lord of the Rings Online
Honestly, I've never felt anywhere near as immersed in a multiplayer game as I do in a single player.
Most “grindy” :Lineage II
Hands down, I've never played anything worse.
Least “grindy” :Guild Wars
Still not sure if this really qualifies as an MMO though.
Best interface :City of Heroes
Simple. Elegant. Straightforward. Love the pass-thru targeting, heck, just the ease and reliability of targeting in general.
Longest played (total time) :City of Heroes
Going on four years this May.
The one (or more) you “keep coming back to”:Star Wars Galaxies
I don't re-subscribe (and probably never would), but I do try to keep up with major updates/headlines. It's just like a train-wreck you can't turn away from.
One you would NEVER go back to :Too Many To List
SWG and Lineage II probably top the list, followed by a ton of Korean grinders.
Most overall fun (could list more than one):City of Heroes
I just can't get tired of this game. The developers rock. They're always adding new stuff. And I love the fast-paced combat that's still darned accessible even for a butterfingers like me.
Bonus question - Most anticipated MMO :Spore
Okay, so it's not an MMO. Frankly, I'm not really excited about anything I've seen so far. And I'm really tired of hack 'n slash, Gary Gygax clones.

PVP - Guild Wars
PVE - FFXI
Character customization - WOW
Character customization (skills/abilities) WOW
Best visual/graphical effects Guild wars or Lineage 2
Most bug free - Lord of the Rings Online
Most bugs - WOW and Guild Wars, even today they still fix issues
Best community - FFXI
Worst community - WOW
Best immersion - If I could pick the Diablo series I would because nothing else was really that spectacular. The best dungeon crawl ever.
Most “grindy” - FFXI
Least “grindy” - Guild Wars
Best interface - None really, each has its own way but still accomplishes the same idea.
Longest played (total time) - Guild Wars 4k hours
The one (or more) - I still go back to GW from time to time but Hellgate and Mythos beta has me busy until GW2.
One you would NEVER go back to - FFXI and Lineage 2, only so much grind one can take but it was well worth it at the time.
Most overall fun - Guild Wars
Bonus question - Guild Wars 2
PVP: Guild Wars
I thought the quick pvp was pretty entertaining.
PVE: Final Fantasy XI
I just love fighting the notorious monsters with my guild/linkshell.
Character customization (appearance): Perfect World
You can customize almost every little detail on your characters appearance.
Character customization (skills/abilities): Guild Wars
There are always different ways you can chain your skills in here, even though sometimes they can be worthless chains.
Best visual/graphical effects: Lineage 2
The armor in Lineage 2 is just phenomenal, nothing can compare.
Most bug free: Final Fantasy XI
I just havent seen many bugs in this, thats about it.
Most bugs: i havent had that problem yet
Best community: Final Fantasy XI
There are always people to help you and assist you. I haven't met an annoying person yet, and I played this for about 2 years now on and off.
Worst community: World of Warcraft
For some reason I always met the most annoying people in here everytime I played, there are still some pretty awesome people though.
Best immersion: Final Fantasy XI and Dungeons and Dragons Online
Final Fantasy XI because the world is just so big and beautiful its not hard to immerse myself, same goes for Dungeons and Dragons except its their dungeons that get me.
Most grindy: Lineage 2 and Final Fantasy XI
Takes a long time to level in Lineage 2 because its hard to find a party in low leveled areas, and Final Fantasy XI since without a party it becomes a pretty huge grind.
Least grindy: Guild Wars
Never really had to fight a mob over and over and over again to level up.
Best interface: Guild Wars
Its just a really easy interface.
Longest played (total time): Lineage 2 for 3 years
Played sine Chronicle 3 on and off.
The one (or more) you keep coming back to: Final Fantasy XI, Lineage 2, and Guild Wars
I cant get over those games, they are just awesome.
One you would NEVER go back to: World of Warcraft
The community got to me and the game was just sort of boring to me.
Most overall fun (could list more than one): Final Fantasy XI
Final Fantasy XI just has an awesome community and there is just so much to do, it takes a really long time to actually finish everything thats in Final Fantasy XI.

what can I say I like alot of SOE games. The decent ones anyhow, I never attempted to play SWG, Matrix, or whatever other title they had because I didn't care for the IP's at all. All of the games I listed up there I had fun for varying periods of time.

I absolutely loved EnB. I played from Beta 9 till the end. I always heard everyone whine about the lack of content but the content was there, but unlike games like WoW that lead you by the nuts to your next destination you actually had to find the next series of quests/missions. It would've stomped Eve into the ground if Westwood hadn't of been bought out and castrated by EA. Anyway, I'm off.
Want a taste of religion? Lick a witch.
AHh my eyes! Sorry but I had to say it, using a background color that is derived from the same color of the text just doesn't work very well. Oh and someone else who likes the EQ2 interface woot! lol.
