I stopped at level 35 with a Medic and I think I was nearly done with the plateau. You may end there as well unless you have a bunch of really good friends you play with. I had a great group of active friends to hang out with, but even that didn't seem to liven up the game any (no amount of college humor can make the plateau instances fun).

I have played other games with longer grinds that seemed more engaging; however it could be that I'm just so incredibly jaded with MMORPGs now. If you've got the drive to push to 50, then don't let me spoil it for you.

I am actually happy that the content has essentially been extended so that I cannot just breeze through it without a thought. It still isn't difficult, but at least it now requires a little more effort and thought, although mindless massacres of enemies is fun... for a while.

I guess they appreciate it will offend there experienced players with high level characters who prefer the previous faster paced game play but they probably presume most will eventually leave anyway when they get bored because there’s no end game content.
So by slowing the progression down for new or middle ranged players they can increase the duration of there subscription before they eventually reach max level and realize there’s no end game content.
slow the progression?  Last night I went into Crucible for the first time as a lvl 32 Grenadier.  By the time I left Crucible by the end of the night, I was lvl 34.  I also had no troubles taking on multiple mobs of lvl 37-39 Bane and Lashers.  Although, I had to take care not to pull more than 7 lashers using my incindiary shotgun or I'd get overwhelmed.   My chain gun made quick work of the Bane and could usually easily take on mobs of 7 or 8 at a time.  The only time I had troubles with mobs of Bane is when I ventured down that one road this is a gauntlet of Bane on each side.

So for those that say 1.4 has killed the ability to solo or has made the game more difficult, I think the problem is the lack of tactics being used by those players and probably the build of their character as well.  But as all things with life, YMMV.

I just saw this game in Target going for $12 on the clearance rack right next to Kane and Lynch for the same price.

Is this thing that bad already?

... and here I wasted $65 on it.

Veteran players?  Didn't this game just come out about 6 months ago?  Were there even enough players to begin with to use the term "droves?"

Yeah, here I was thinking I'd never buy a lemon in the game industry. This will be the last time I was one of those blokes who lines up outside a store to buy a copy of the newest over-hyped game.

Um yeah $65 is rather steep for this type of game, but to say it's a lemon is out of line- it's far from being a lemon, it's young and will gain more juice soon. I got lucky and saw it for $9 at EB Games on boxing day (day after Christmas for you non Canadians), I beta tested this game and said to myself that I'm not paying $50 for it because it didn't seem to make up for a $50 product, however the live game is a bit different and much better.

It's been said several times, devs has alot planned for upcoming patches, the hybrids was just the beginning.

I never even knew TR was overhyped, I thought that was Halo 3?

I'm curious to why you went to Crucible at that level? Did you skip Plateau and Pools and Marshes? Plateau takes you from 30-33, Pools 33-35 and so on, you'll probably run short on missions when you get into the 40's now if you did Crucible that early.

And that's the point of an MMO, soloing is for single player games, I joined up with a group to do Ustor yard/Maligo base and it was ALOT of fun. Soloing is a little slower now but not a whole lot harder, striders/stalkers are still a joke when you know their weakness, right now my sniper with the toraqueshell rifle has the hardest time and a dev came on to chat with us one night and said he has a sniper and knows about the problem with the TSR and will be fixing it.

That game is to young to have any veterans.

However this doesn't invalidate your point, it is just that I find it pompous to self-claims vets in less than a year of existence...

Vets in a MMO are what?  At least 2 years since they join...at least...There is no such things as vets for that game yet, even most devs are not self proclaiming themselves vets.

My thoughts on the game after 1.4 below.

After patch 1.4 : 97%+ of bugs were fixed, much more content and quests added, game is a little more challenging ( actually makes it more fun imho ).  I am havng a blast still and personally I think TR is now better then it ever was.

It is all relative, its a game, I have not met anyone who played it who did not like it.  If you hate it, you always will ( just like with al games )

Is it just me or is anyonewriting abot veterans in a game few months old automatically looses all credibility ?

Going into a game with such a mindset in my opinion would bore the hell out of anyone who tries to play MMO's that way. Grind is a mindset and has nothing but absolutly nothing to do with playing games, once people feel some sort of grind theyshould either change their playstyle and try to read and get involved with a game or simply quite unless afcourse if you prefure and have fun with such a mindset calling everything a grind, then it's totaly up to you in how you like to enjopy the game.

Overall if people really grind in TR they in my opinion should simply not play this genre.

Ok have been away from TR for a month because I was banned, I just recently started back up again tonight and all I have to say is....

I love this game, honestly say what you will about it, but I got into a group first thing, and did some Hybrid missions, and then grouped with 4 other people and captured Control points and defended them, over two different planets. I played since I posted my message here which means a good 4 and a half 5 hours.

For me that is damn good, and I got in and just had fun. I tried to play LOTRO the past couple of weeks and after the first week I just go bored and had no will to fight in the game.

I played TR for 2 months and got banned for one, I came back and played for 5 hours straight and the only reason i stopped is because I have to drive my girlfriend somewhere in about 2 hours.

    Here my thoughts from returning.

-Yes the game is a bit harder! I coulld normally take the Badlands CP with ease with only one partner both of us at level 32, today it was not so, it took an actual group of 4 of us to take it, and hold it without dieing.

-The game is much more balanced! Before My shield would die and then Bam my health was gone in a second. The Upping of all the health has made me last a second or two long enough to get a quick heal from a buddy of mine while in combat.

-Enhanced Effects! I noticed that icons were more stylish for the radar and some other effects and animations had been tweaked and look great especially for the staff.

-My Sniper still owns! I dont know what all this talk about snipers getting shafted is, in my group tonight I ended up doing as good as the person 3 levels higher than me as a Sniper. Aggro is still an issue but playing it safe and shooting from 60 yards away is the way to go. I find it fun and real, as a sniper shouldnt be up in combat the whole battle. I did go in with my pistol and clear house but, i had to man!

-More missions! Aside from the Hybrids missions on my journy through the two plaents I uncovered countless missions that wernt there  before.  Some I had already out level but I still did anyways for the lore value.

    Future thoughts,

I never would have stopped playing for more than a week had i not been banned. I guess its a good thing though after a month of playing WoW, Lotro, Vanguard I came bck to TR and I felt truely at home. Its not just the action but its the great people, and the world itself that gives all the draw.

I think making the game more group oriented is a good idea. Ive alway found that the bst fun lies i ngroup combat in game. The speed has not changed for me at all still as fast paced as ever.

I think if they keep the difficulty where it is (maybe raise a tad higher) and keep giving out great content like this, the game will turn out to be one of the all time best.

BTW the Hybrids look awesome, and fighting along side one in my group made it all the more enjoyable!

My clan was doing an event in Ashen Desert and I didn't have any drop ship LZs to get from Mires to Ashen Desert.  So I had to hoof it on foot.  After the event was over, I went back to Crucible to grind since  I was unable to pull any missions due to my lower level.  Honestly, as long as I didn't run head long down the gauntlet road of Bane, I was okay.  My machine gun really made short work of the Bane along with my AoE Logos abilities.  Incindiary shotgun worked like a charm against multiple lashers but then that's probably due to having shotguns  and machine guns up to pump 5.

Heh yea I agree Riotact007, but I guess with todays rabid ADD mmo fan addict a few months in the real world is years in the MMO world.  If this is the case then good lord man I must be an ancient in UO.

I don't buy what smellyhenry says, vets don't exist yet in a 3 month old game and even if people leave the game, the guild members remains intact unless that player in particular chooses to leave the guild. There is an issue with changing guilds, you have to wait 4-5 days after leaving a guild to join another and you can only be in one guild no matter how many clones you have, I'm thinking your guild died because something bad happened in it.
