I'll answer the ones I can:

You can click and drag the UI to wherever you want, you'll need to grab the blue tab part to the part of the screen you want.

For items like the map, you can detach it from the mission text area by clicking the radio button that is red. This allows you to move it to a spot on your screen. If you click the radio button again, it'll put it back to the screen it was by default.

You can also resize, just like windows.

For binds, I recommend The Incomplete and Unofficial Guide to /bind on ParagonWiki.

From memory (@ work now) I don't recall exactly where the level indicator is at, but you don't have to log out to get to it.

Lag, usually turning off other processes while playing will help. Upgrade your ram.

The types of lag are either server based (can't do anything about it) or your computer (usually killing applications your not using and upgrading ram)

your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't

    2. How do you tell what lvl you are instead of logging out.

Look at your hero ID card (on the menu).  It shows your level, your money (influence), your biography and your battlecry (played when you press F10).

They've mostly been answered, but let me touch on things that weren't mentioned.

1)While not quite as customizeable as WoW, the interface does have enough tweaks that most have no problem with it. You've likely noticed that you can expand the power tray up to 3 levels. (Regular Fkey, Ctrl+Fkey, and Alt+Fkey.) It can be dragged around, though not changed to vertical.

Windows that look like they should be separate, but are attached, can be detached by clicking the little blue dot in the corner. (As opposed to the red dot, which closes it.) The map button is a prime example, I highly recommend removing it from the nav bar and putting it someplace you can always keep it open.

Similarly, your chat tabs can be moved between the top and bottom window, and even an extra window if you want. (The numbers 1-4 on that box each open up detacheable windows of their own.)

2)I find the quickest way if I forget is to just target a nearby enemy, assuming I'm fighting around my level. A minion your level will be white. But the preferred way is to click the Menu drop down, then choose ID. Also, if you've joined a supergroup, it will be listed in there.

3)Depends on if you mean real lag, which is rubberbanding due to your connection, or graphical latency, which is a stop-and-go staticky kind of effect. If it's the first, nothing you can do aside from improving the connection. For the second, try going into Menu -> options and turning down the settings a bit. There are a lot of things to play with, but I'd start with just using the simplified settings bar and moving it down one notch. If it's really bad, lower your resolution.

4)The guide that Sanctus-Mors linked is good. The simple answer is, to bind a power to another key, use this:

    /bind g powexec_name Fly

Where of course "g" is the name of the key you want, and "Fly" is the naem of the power. I personally find this useful:

    /bind ` target_enemy_near

That lets me target the enemy closest to me when I hit the ~ key, and move through the group using the Tab key right below it.

    Currently playing:
    DC Universe
    Planetside 2
    Magic Online
Simunomics, the Massive Multiplayer Economic Simulation Game. Play for free.

If you want it to feel more like wow go into OPTIONS and select invert mouse movement.

in wow if you hold in your right mousebuttom and drag the mouse towards you your camera will go upwards

in coh if you hold in your right mousebutton and drag the mouse towards you your camera will go downwards

so if you change it to "inverted" it'll feel more like wow

Since your questions have already been answered, let me say hello and welcome to CoH!

I'll also add that turning down particle effects will do wonders for graphical lag.  While the game is optimized pretty well, full settings can bog down even some of the better PC's.  I think there was a command line you could use to adjust particle effects even more...but I forget what it is.  You may try looking in the tech support section of their forums...they may have that in a sticky there.

Enjoy, have fun, and I hope to see you online someday!  I'll be rejoining the ranks as soon as my new bank card gets in.  I, too, migrated here from WoW (And to WoW from EQOA).  I think you will enjoy it quite a bit.

    About your lag.

There are many options you can tweek in game by selecting the "advanced" graphic option.

In the COH forums there is a good guide to settings.

It really depends on your video card. If it's ATI make sure your water effects are set to off with FSAA on. It screws with ATI cards.

There are many options. Look the guide up on forums, and just play around with the settings to see what your comp likes.

Welcome to COH I been on that game since it launched. It's not the be all end all of mmo's but the powers are lots of fun. The game keeps me coming back for more even when I take breaks. My global is En ki if you have any questions in game. My toons are all on the Freedom server.

To see what level you are without logging out just check your Paragon ID.  Click on the options and there should be one called "ID", clicking that will bring up the "card" that you filled out in character creation.  Will show your infamy/influence, total xp , xp needed, level, powers, etc.  You can also use the "personal info" which will pull up a small window listing info about your toon similar to the one that pops up when you click on info for other players.

Best way to reduce lag is more memory.  I noticed a big drop in lagginess when I went from 1gig to 3gig of ram.   Barring that, you can go to video options and turn down some settings to improve perfromance.  Remember, CoH is more graphically intensive than WoW so your PC will not run as smooth as it did with WoW's lower-polygon "cartoonish" graphics.

If you would rather not go into the ID screen (which can be dangerous if you are in a bad area), just use the "Character Info" button which  is directly below the ID button in your options menu.

That way you can stil see what's going on around you while checking your level.

    Enjoy!

To target an enemy, you can just click an attack, preferrably melee so it doesn't auto-launch if you double click.

To target an ally at random, you can just click a single target buff/heal.

If you try to heal an enemy, you would auto-assist him and heal whoever he is attacking if it is an ally for you.

If you try to attack a friend, you would auto-assist him and attack his enemy.

Whenever I make a new toon, the first bind I give them is this:

    /bind i "info"

That ties the Information panel to my i key.

That will bring up the information panel for whatever/whoever I have targeted.   If nothing is targeted, it will bring up your own info panel, displaying your level.
