Two whole ads on the main page can not be called "flooded with ads." Everything else is content.
Okay, four ads. Still not flooded.

Well this site needs some form of income to keep operating and income from gaming ads are needed to keep the site afloat (unless the operators will be forced to charge people to see the content which neither side wants to do so). At least this site doesn't use those annoying pop-up banners or banner ads that isn't related to gaming, on the positive side the ads lets you know what new games, or game related event are coming up so it's all good.
Hmmm......I've used FireFox essentially since I came to this site the first time. Are there ads I'm not seeing then? I've found the ads on this site to be very VERY low key to the news they release. Unless you are counting beta key info and stuff. Otherwise...just having some ads on the right side isn't a big deal to me.
I can't say I chose to use firefox because it blocked ads....or because of the lovely spellcheck function built into it....or the pop up blockers...or any of the other silent security tools. I just picked it because I refuse to use Windows programs in conjunction with the very dangerous interwebs. I find that they are too....connected....to other key windows programs and I rather dislike gaping security holes.
Firefox, NoScript and AdBlock Plus are awesome. I personally become pretty annoyed by the addons as they keep attracting my attention, wouldn't be able to post if it wasn't that I could remove them.
Adblockers should be used on the wider internet because you don't know what crap you are going to come across. But using adblockers on sites that you visit regularly that provide you with free content and a place to hang out and discuss stuff is just wrong.

When this site starts caring more about its members than its advertisers I might disable the ad-blocker.
And then, most of you at this thread have some kind of ads or self-promoting messages as signatures or avatars..... any way to disable them too ??
For me, ads lead me to games I never heard of, and give me a chance to discover every little bit of human ingenuity and creativity in them. Even the way ads are presented is a product of human creativity. A game site would be very boring without colorful game ads, imho.

absolutely true, Im still waiting for a non biased review on this website. They turn jellyfish when it comes to being honest about the plethora of garbage games because they advertise on this site.
If sites like this didnt have ads, there'd be no income to run it and if ads werent used then you would see a huge influx of forum spammers trying to advertise game after game

Show me a site where the admins care more about the gamers than the advertisers and I'll stop using ad blocking technology and/or pay a subscription to that site. Maybe it's time that the idea of 100% ad supported websites went away...it's a bad concept that gives way too much power to advertisers instead of the target audience of the site.
They won't go away because 99% of people won't pay for content on the internet. The simple fact is that unless you find someone extremely generous whos prepared to pay hundreds of dollars every month for the pleasure of providing a site for other people to use, you wouldn't have any decent sites to visit. Anything decent with no income would be forced to close because of the costs involved. If you fail to accept those realities and continue to block the ads on sites you use regularly then you have to admit that you are leaching.

Probably true, they pay the bills after all.
How do you think they pay for all those great trips to those game conventions all over the world?

blame the people with ad blockers, and overly aggressive advertisers that encourage people to get them.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

There is an easy solution to the overuse of advertising on the internet:
http://www.firefox.com
http://adblockplus.org
The internet is a much prettier place with them.
And also a great way to kill free content.

I dont mind the ads themselves , but the flash-isms. Blinking bright lights to distract you from the content.

Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
I agree, but first where the aggressive advertisers and websites absolutely abusing the use of adds, and after that, the ad blockers.

I would never, ever, never, ever buy anything I saw in an online ad. EVER.
So, using FF w/ adblock doesn't hurt this or any other site at all (I imagine there are a lot of people who agree with me on this).
