I've been waiting a long time for a game that I could enjoy as much as WoW without having to pay a monthly fee.
Well folks, that time has come and its name is Perfect World.
See you all in game!

I've never really seen the point in threads like this. I mean, it's cool that you've found a game you like so... good for you?
The point is to let other gamers know that they don't have to spend 15$ a month to play a decent game.
I'm happy for you. You won't see me in game, however. I prefer pay to play as I haven't seen a free games that competes all-around, from gameplay features, to graphics among other things.

P2P has my heart also. I just feel the games have something else to work forward to that F2P's don't!
So, the fact that you "haven't seen a free games that competes all-around, from gameplay features, to graphics among other things" probably means you haven't played PW long enough to realize that it does.
All that changed when I started PW though. Graphics, PvE and PvP content, quests, character customization, etc.(I could go on) are all equal or better than any game in my sig list.

No, I haven't played PW. And? People don't marry people they aren't attracted too. Since you are calling me out, I've looked at PW and to me the visual are grey puke at best. If I can't stand to look at the game, how would I play it.You need to learn how to accept people being happy that you found something you like (since you went out of your way to post this) without trying to fire back at them. Right now the only thing you are achieveing is pushing people away from your point. It doesn't matter what you think, only what others see (since you admitted that you are trying to win people over to this game). And what they are seeing right now is a whole lot of defensive.

It reminds me of any other Korean mmo when i watched videos on Youtube. Grind grind grind, quest, grind grind... level 3. No thanks.
F2P guarantees 2 things that turn most NA players off.
Tons of grinding till you stab yourself in the eyes.
Tons of bots till you get sick of being unable to hunt / the spam
Don't mind the trolls trying to get their post counts up. I agree as a F2P this game definitely set the bar much higher for other F2P.
It is not some grind fest but it is a quest fest of collect this kill this quests. But this game does have some great ideas and unique features that you would expect only to see in P2P games and the dev's eye for details in their engine and design is very well done.
It's not just another pretty face with no depth. (which is usually what you get with asian MMO's.) So it is worth at least the time to download and try it out. You risk nothing but your time playing it.
Some things are not for everyone and to each thier own. But as much as it is human nature to counter someone opinion with your own it is natural to want to share good things with others as well. If anything it is the better part of human nature.

I really like this game but it turns into a heavy grind after a while. I really wish they would add a considerable amount of quests
Very nice community!

7.0 rating?? bit low, this is the best F2P game I've ever downloaded and I think I have about 40 of them on my HD.. Yes this game has its flaws but what game doesnt..
grind, grind, quest, level 3?? jesus christ at least know what your talking about before making these stupid posts??? yes I hear theres grinding post lvl 40 but christ least try the game for more then 10 minutes before you log in here and make a fool of yourself.. if you look on my xfire profile I have over 100 hours played in this game and yes Im not past level 30 yet but Ive tried every class.. I spent 6 months grinding in Flyff this game isnt like that at all yet..
I've been playing this game since Open Beta started (November '07) and currently I am level 65.
In the first 4-6 weeks I was totally hooked and amazed by this game, and it certainly is by far the best f2p game ever made.
There are, however, a couple of issues (some of them being responsible for me hardly playing it any longer in the past few days):
1. While it's rather quest-based until the mid-fourties, in the 60s you can hardly do more than 10-15% per level with quests - rest is pure and painful grind.
2. The cash shop (compared to other f2p games) is very unbalanced. This is a f2p game, true, but people who are used to the "fairness" of p2p games will find this game rather disturbing. The items in the cash shop are overpowered: Hierograms that act like a 500000hp shield for example. And those are kinda mandatory past level 60/70 (and in PvP anyway... and yes, PvP often becomes pointless and lengthy due to these items). Also you can directly exchange USD for ingame gold at an ingame NPC. So if you're rich irl you'll be a GOD in this game. Otherwise you're gankmeat or have to farm for months to afford that fancy +X armor set and the constant use of HP/MP hierograms, which is pretty much required from a certain level on.
3. While this is not really an issue to me (~300ms ping), most people from the US or EU experience HORRIBLE lag since the servers are in Malaysia. The fault seems to be the local ISP monopolist over there, but it scares away a LOT of people who tried PW.
4. Cubinet, the company which runs the English version, is a poorly run company. It consists of roughly two people without the expertise or permission to change a single line of the code. They just bought the hosting license and are totally dependent on the Chinese developers to deliver patches. However, obviously PW Bejing (that's the name of the company who developed PW) scammed Cubinet and has not obligation/clause to do so.
As a result, there hasn't been a single patch so far, even though Open Beta is 3 months old. 2 patches (christmas and Chinese new year) had been announced and postponed without ETA. Also the cash shop has severely wrong/misleading/bugged translations, scamming people as a result.
Recently this severely understaffed company just decided to host a second game called "Q-World", which currently seems to have top-priority (they even admitted that they can't do any changes in PW, so they use all the feedback to improve Q-World).
Currently (and that's what pretty much everyone realized) it looks like this is just another f2p Cash Cow. Once set up, the devs just put on /milkmode and stop support and patches. It really looks like abandonware at the moment.
5. This game has no real endgame. The eternal grind (literally, the maximum level of 105 is more or less only reachable in theory) IS the endgame. There are territory wars, but unless you are in one of the 3-4 major guilds you can't participate here.
Plus they are only on friday and saturday during Malaysian prime time (which is 1pm in Europe and 4-6 in the morning in the US). So most of us will not be able to call this our endgame.
6. The community is one of the worst communities of all MMOs I've ever played (so it surprises me that someone here praised the game for it's great community). 50% don't speak real English, but only a weird mix of Chinglish and horrible Engrish. 90% of all words used are fcuk, mother, noob and ma, la, le, lu.
While that would be acceptable, the world chat is constantly flooded by spoiled brats who are bragging about their new public hair, and 14-years old nerds looking for a girlfriend (no kidding, that's really what they are asking for).
7. The translation of the game has been done with babelfish and is HORRIBLE. Up to the point where it's not possible to understand what a quest or NPC actually wants from you.
I know how negative all this must sound, but apart from these points, Perfect World actually is a great game. I had a LOT of fun, more than with many p2p games to be honest.
However, in the long run (after about two and a half months of straight gaming) it just gets a bit... tedious and boring. With no real endgame to look forward to, no kind of PvP rewards (the PK system is just for kicks and offers no pvp progression, no stats and no rewards) and territorial wars which I cannot participate in due to the timezone.
But mostly with that uneasy feeling of playing abandonware which will never become a regulary updated game. Highest hopes one can have is that Cubinet doesn't have to shut down their servers.
Vasburg, Everything you say here is well taken and Im already aware but just sit back and think. You said twice this is best f2p game you ever played, and you had 3-4 months of enjoyment playing the game for no cost.. Yes theres no end game, but to be honest, my Experience with p2p games, theres end game yes, But if you cant set your life around the game to a raiding schedule you arent going to get into any guild thats going to be anything, or you can be like Me in Everquest 2, make it to end game and no guild who wants you because your Gimp dps in Plate (The Berserker) Forced to quit the game cause my class is useless.. Or you can be like me in Wow and raid for 9 months straight and they come out with an expansion with solo dropped gear that is better then the raid gear you worked for months to obtain... In the 3+ months you had fun playing PW I woulda been on my 2nd max toon in WOW or EQ2 with no end game cause I had no guild so though your points about the bad things about this game are well taken theres other ways to look at things as well.. For me the most disturbing thing is no updates though it doesnt really matter since this game is just my Bridge to Age of conan anyway .. Have a nice Day..
Perfect World
(Rating The Beginning: 9/10)
At the beginning the game really looks cool but after a point of time the game takes the same old journey into the world of grinding.
I have played an Elf – Priest and a Magician till now.
The missions are quite nice and you also find helpful players all across the map to team up and do the killing and find location missions.
(Rating The Character Tweaking: 3/10)
The tweaking of the characters is not much complicated but it does need a lot of more gold which you are always short of at that particular level, like the other grind games.
(Rating The Character Balance: 4/10)
Boss missions always need some party or assistance or may be a Were-fox friend. That reminds me, it is a nice idea to start a Were-fox somewhere and keep playing with it as it is a way easier game from level 30+ with that character.
(Rating The Movement: 10/10)
All the characters can fly, which is a very nice thing and once you can fly, you will get missions which make you fly a bit.
Elf one’s can fly from the beginning and others will get a flying sword at level 30.
(Rating The Item Mall And The In-Game Item Balance: 3/10)
Cash Shop items make you quite the best character and the players who like to play free will linger with hope till infinity as the end game is really not there.
(Rating The Community: 8/10)
Community is nice and quite helpful.
(Rating The Graphics: 9/10)
The game has got good graphics and lot of players around which somehow gets thinner at higher levels.
I really have no complains against the game but it is a better version of other item shop based games that are quite many in number at recent times.
(Rating The Game Progress And Balance Between Character Development And Monsters to Be Killed: 4/10)
Equipments do come at certain level intervals and the more you go near to that next equipment level the more your equipment fails you with the monsters that you are trying to kill at your present level.
By far for me it is a game till now till level 30 and I have no idea what will keep me in the game for the higher levels nor have any intention of grinding or going to item mall and spending real money.
So the journey of Perfect World seems to be this much for this point of time and may be I will return to the game or may be I will not return depending on the other game releases of the same sort.
(Rating The Interest: 6/10)
Tried it for lot more than 10 minutes and will try it again but if I keep on dying then may be I will seize trying it as I really do not find this game quite team oriented or dungeon oriented, just a solo game with item mall and yes you will find help, but then again at some point of time help will seize and so will the interest to be in Perfect World.
Cheers.

Again some good points made there but til you come up with a better game then let the Pw trashing commence.. Id love to hear another f2p game thats not a grinder. Or even come up with a p2p game that a elite guild isnt needed for end game. Dig into the trenches of your Hd and come up with something and let me know!! I think I'll be waiting for a long time.. And dont come back with WoW been there done that..
It is a VERY good f2p game, and i tend to like it more than all the p2p games ive played.
I do wish they would come out with more quests, but im sure it will come with time.
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
Gotta admit this game spends more $$ than p2p games
Get to lvl 70 plus u'll know... plus it's a really bad grinding experience (1 mob 0.05%)
so unless u wanna spend like 1k usd on zhen(aoe) party to get to lvl 105, this game is nothing but a grinding game...
plus they dun give a damn about updates (promised updates but got cancelled) and events (chinese new year 1.5 drop rate event) are worse still
i quited when i'm 71 (mage)
The pvp's crap so is the territory war
Bottomline.. anyone that wans a game that tells u to kill xx amount of monsters, dun mind the lag, dun mind spending much more $$ than p2p games.. can give it a try
Perfect World A Detailed Report :-
I have been playing Perfect World for quite sometime now and this is what I have found out about the game.
It is really a sweet game at higher levels. You will find many players to team up with and the character creation balance is such that you will not need much Item Mall stuff to level slowly but then again to level faster you need to use it. There is really not much problem in getting Item mall stuff as many shops and auction house are selling those stuffs at lower price than the Item Mall itself.
Cubi – Gold can be easily available from auction house and in- game currency conversion is around 100 – 110 k gold for 1 Cubi – Gold . It is really not a big problem to find 100 – 110 k for characters after level 35+ and thus you can use Item Mall quite freely and have fun. Selling of DQ ( Dragon Quest ) items to higher level players is a very nice way to make a lot of Gold in this game and also selling materials for manufacturing weapons , armours and herbs for potions.
The community is really nice as you will always find help for the boss quests and tough quests. I have been playing Item Mall games for a while now and this game though in beta has really put up a challenge to look for the end game or the highest level. Though I heard many players complain about the grind but then again with high damage builds the monsters can be killed faster and thus you can level quite fast.
Unlike other games I have played , you really do not get much rejected when you send a party request to other players killing the same monsters but then again there is always a few nerds who like to play games alone and do not quite communicate and whenever you see bots after level 30 you can go ahead and report bot or Pk it if you want.
The game revolves around xp for leveling and sp for skills and thus you can well stay in the same level a bit and get more sp and thus make your character strong with higher skill levels to move on to the next level which may be a bit tough at the beginning. Thus you have choices in leveling and making your character stronger for that particular level and hence forth.
Unlike other games the economy is quite cool in this game. There is really not much trouble in getting In – Game currency that is gold.
Sometimes I have met a few players who have leveled crazily without developing their skills much or choosing many skills and thus they are weak for their levels. In situations like this you surely need much more Item Mall stuff like Hierograms for instance.
The chat system is nice with the option of being able to make chat rooms for help and join other chat rooms to look for higher level players to help you out a bit. Accessing the world channel needs a trumpet ( Item Mall ) but as I have said earlier the game has a lot of options and thus you really do not need to buy the Item Mall trumpet to access the world channel. In a way this is good as the world channel do not get flooded or spammed by the players and help is also available with ease.
Currently sometimes the game is a bit laggy but then again the game is in open beta and those issues can be fixed for sure.
With the release of the game a finer tweaking like sequential loot option made available in party mode would be the only thing I could spot in the game technicalities that is missing.
I do not mind saying that Perfect World is a tough competition for paid games such as Lineage 2. Many guilds are there in Perfect World and though it is an open PK server but you will find the game-play field quite free from Pker’s with higher guilds coming to rescue the newbie players who get Pked by the Pker’s.
I have played a ton of F2P games so far and this game keeps me hooked up for more time than the rest and moreover the others seemed impossible without Item Mall stuff and some Item Mall stuff where not quite readily available to free gamers like me. It is a worthwhile effort to keep playing the game and to enjoy the lush graphics and to try and reach the endgame. I am quite sure with the community and the game mechanics including the economy the game is going to be popular and would be played much.
Secretly I fear that a game as good as this can well be made a P2P and thus we will loose the experience of playing this good game. I like this game for the options it gives for doing stuff and play along.
Cheers.
