has the release date been pushed back again?

KenzeKenze Member UncommonPosts: 1,217

has the release date been pushed back again? I went in to pay some on my preorder at gamestop today and they told me that the release had been pushed back. I said "yeah to May, I read that already." The guys says no its been pushed back to September now.

anyone heard/read anything about another release date change?

I would take anything you hear from a game store with a grain of salt.

Until (if) something is released officially from Funcom I would ignore it.

But as of right now, no, the release date has not officially been pushed back past May.

Go back and call him out on it. Tell him to tell you where he heard that, and then tell a Manager his employee is spreading bad info and turning away potential sales because of it.

May 20, 2008 for the PC version.

It's possible he may have been talking about the Xbox360 version for a September release, but nothing concrete has been given about the console version of the game.

Projected release date for the Xbox 360 version... 9-01-08

Yep, he probably has the 360 version listed as September... which won't happen either... 360 version won't even release this year - that's almost guaranteed.  They are talking about it not even releasing until the first expansion for the PC version.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me.  However, I think that is just a gamer geek making stuff up.

You know a friend of a friend of my friend says/tells me/ i hear its buggy comments are still against NDA for this game. And then statements to compare against VG are just well.. STUPID.

Hey there is nothing rabid with what I said. i've played the game, I've recorded 2 hrs of it on my own camcorder, im free from NDA to talk about my experience during that time. 17 other press guys did the same thing. Over 40 websites have had hands on time with the game in the last 2 months.

Let me ask if you something, if Funcom had something to hide, why did they pay for 17 people to come film in their offices not being under NDA. You didn't see that from Vanguard a few months from launch did you.

Read the sticky about the NDA here, then go read the NDA for Conan, you cant do the friend of a friend comment - sorry, and therefore thats the rules here too.

Like I said comparisons about AoC and Vanguard at this stage of development are fucking stupid. If you cant see that its not my fault. Then again your friend is probably a professional spent over $40 on the game and knows exactly how the internal version plays right? NO? tell him to check out the latest media released then.

I understand your saying that if your friend thinks that if the game needs more time then so be it, and thats great in your eyes. But your friend and us too, dont have all the facts freely available for public persual.

Point is we only have your friends word and there is no way to back up what he says by furthrng breaking the NDA. So its kinda one sided.

For the record, yes, "My friend who is in beta told me...<incredibly

specific obviously NDA-breaking information>" or "I read on this site

    somewhere...<incredibly specific obviously NDA-breaking information>" or

    "Rumors say...<incredibly specific obviously NDA-breaking information>"

does count as an NDA break.

    Wow Avery... bad day?

You seem kind of upset today... not like your normal self.

Anyway.. here's something to cheer you up.

Well done Avery.  I think people should know about how the NDA rules work, and what they can or cannot write about.

I don't think Avery was angry, he was just getting the point across that you should not break the NDA!!

I applaud Avery for keeping so cool headed about all of the idiots that find their way onto this board that don't know shit about AoC.

Take some time to look around at different sites. More importantly, think about the information the OP posted. We know there are two versions (PC and 360) of this game. We know that the PC version will come first and the 360 some months later. We know that if they meet their current date, May 20, 2008, some months can equate to September. The OP did not state whether their pre-order was for the PC version or the 360 version. What can reasonably be taken from that is the OP:

    1) ordered a 360 version

    2) didn't pay attention and allowed the store clerk to order a 360 version at initial pre-order

    3) Got a store clerk who doesn't play MMOs and/or does not keep up with the MMO genre news

Yeah well.. the reason why I'm upset is because I find it a little hard to trust in MMO makers and their release dates.

And I know that release dates are often pushed back in MMO's and FC not being the only doing it etc etc etc... but when you give a f-ing release date - you better stick up to it. Of course I want the game to be as smooth at launch as possible - what I dont wanna see is a lot of release dates which doesn't mean anything anymore.

Dont get me wrong. Im going to be playing AoC... hell - I would even be playing the game if it was released next year 'cause I just love all about it!

The release date is May 20 - and I will hopefully have the game CD's in my hands at May 20. Don't bullshit me on this one FC

    ** EDIT **

This is a reply to Khalathwyr

    ** EDIT **

golly guys, I didnt mean to cause an uproar. My intended preorder was for the PC version(dont own a 360). I did not know that the PC and 360 version had different release dates. The gamestop employee must have been thinking of the 360 version. Guess I need to call them and make sure my money is going towards the correct version...

    Sorry for the trouble.

Now I dont mean to be rude, Im sure you are a great guy. However as far as biased opinions go, you have to be the most biased person AoC has to offer. Again not trying to be rude, but considering your trip and whatnot. I have to take anything you say with a grain of salt. Really for all the effort youve put into promoting this game on this site, you should be getting paid for your time.

P.S. Im really not trying to be insulting, but I just cant see you being objective about this game.

Seeing as Avery is probably the one best informed about this game apart from the other people who were at the Oslo-Event, I am willing to give his information far more credit than anyone else who is ranting about what their friends heard from their friends who are supposedly in Beta. Someone who has been at the offices of FunCom and got to see and play the game as the Developers are working on it now obviously knows a little bit more about it than most people in this Forum.

What strikes me as odd is that everyone is trying to refute everything Avery says just because he is a fan of the game. Does that lessen the fact that he's been there and seen the stuff he did? Sure, I'm not about to take every opinion he presents (regarding how great the game will be) as face value, but I am willing to take his views on how complete the game is over most other people here. Again, how can you ignore the fact he was in the offices and played the most current version of the game there?

you couldn't pay him to say anything bad about this game. he's right up there with the old vanguard crew.

Im not refuting anything he says. However if you have 2 guys, one who has recieved gifts from a company and one who hasnt, who do you think is going to be more objective when it comes to reviewing the companies products?

I'm still going to believe more of the one who has actually seen the game in its current stage as compared to the people who quote people who quote still other people. As I said, I take the statements with a grain of salt myself and at least -TRY- not to be too hyped up about how great the game will be and how innovative it will be. But regarding mere playability and the current state of the game, I will trust the one who has been there to see the game over someone who claims to have a friend who knows a friend in the (not up to current build) Beta.

Its the same reason we get watered down reviews from this website, theyre getting paid for the advertisements...Again not objective.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. *shrug* And besides, I'm more talking about people who are all over the place predicting doom on every corner and crying havoc when someone has -something- positive to say about the game. I, too, have my doubts, but I am giving FC the benefit of doubt for now and will see what they present to us when release date comes.

Im actually not disagreeing with you at all. Were just looking at both ends of the spectrum, on one end you have naysayers saying bad things just to troll, on the other end you have someone who has received special treatment saying great things. To me theyre one and the same in terms of not being neutral about it, which if course one would have to be to again be objective about it.
