Roleplaying on GTA? Why would I want to roleplay?
1) There are jobs.
2) You have to think of good excuses to kill people. For example: A friend of mine that I play with are Arms Dealers, so we kill any independent Arms Dealers we run across. We also kill anyone that smarts off to us, or anyone that has a car we really want. Basically if you can justify whatever kind of character you're playing doing it, then you can do it. This isn't hard since most people are thug gangstahs . If you just run around and DeathMatch people, you will get killed a lot, lose your money, lose your guns, and probably get arrested and have to spend time sitting in jail. Also, no one will sell you guns when they realize you're deathmatching.
3) CO-OPERATE WITH THE COPS. If one is trying to pull you over, do exactly what you'd do in real life. Pull-over, kiss the cops butt, and 9/10 times he'll let you go on your way. Unlike in real life though, he'll let you go with your AK-47 and bag of meth. If you don't do what he wants, he's going to arrest you or kill you. The cops have stronger cars, easier access to guns, and body armor. They can take down about 3 players without too much of a problem.
4) You retain your money, guns and armour when you log off, and the accumulation of cash is the primary goal of the server.
5) No gun spawns or free guns. You have to buy guns from Arms Dealers, so this keeps some of the DeathMatching in check.
Why should I play here?
* Greatly improved cops from the basic Godfather script, including a /tazer timer to prevent /tazer spam.
* Gang implementations (read: clans) with your own headquarters, vehicle spawns, and things of that assortment.
* Public gangs (/join aztecas or /join ballas) to make it easy to get into the game and start doing fun stuff, as well as to let you meet new people so you can join up and make other gangs.
* Purchasable houses.
* Businesses.
* RP Factors such as levels and cash.
* Controllable materials points so that gangs have something to fight over. This is what you all wanted, so enjoy it.
* Advanced cheat detection for the most stable SA:MP economy around.
* A bleeding feature. SA:MP doesn't give you control of weapon damages, and this was the most effective way to make getting shot more dangerous.
* DAILY updates from multiple coders. (Gilok is a God among coders)
* A lot of problems with default Godfather SA:MP have been fixed, such as Running Man and various bugs that allowed overloading of health/armor.
* Arms-Dealers have access to more guns than in default Godfather, and are levelled so they make better weapons the higher their skill level.
* Admins that keep their noses out of the game. If you see an admin doing things in game other than admining let us know and they'll be fired SO FAST.
* Six DISTINCT and USEFUL jobs. Pilot, armsdealer, drugsdealer, wheelman, mercenary, and lawyer. Check our our wiki (linked below) to see what each class offers.
* A features list that grows daily!
How do I get on this?
1. Install the Full Version of GTA SA on your hard drive. (If you're afraid that you've lost the key to your game, don't worry you won't need it.)
2. Download the multiplayer modification from www.sa-mp.com Go to the downloads section and download the Client. Once it has finished downloading run the install program and follow the instructions. Keep that website handy as they have continuously releaesed updated server and client versions.
3. If you bought your disc after the hot coffee ordeal, your version of the game (2.0) is unmoddable. You will need to downgrade your client. If you haven't downgraded your client from 2.0 to 1.01 do it now. Remember you need to do this or the game won't run properly.
4. After the install, there should be a sa-mp executable. Run that. You will be presented with window. Click the Add Server button. Copy and paste this into the field: 72.232.254.202:6777. The SZR:GTA RP server should appear on your server list.
5. You will see a field that says Name: This is going to be your in-game name. We recommend that you use a <firstname>_<last name> format. This is a roleplaying server.
6. Once you've got your name in, make sure the server is selected and Connect to the server. Once everything is loaded you are probably staring at a selection screen. We're going to ignore that for now. You will need to press `, T, or F6 to bring up the chatbox in the game.
At this point sit back and read what the tutorial has to say. It will give some good pointers about the server and messageboards to read up on the going ons of this server. In case you missed it in the tutorial, you will want to visit www.secretzombieroom.com from there you can go visit the forums for all the recent updates and changes, or you can go visit the wikipedia for a lot of useful information about the game mechanics. After the tutorial is over you will be placed in the game.

Only thing I was looking for is not in the thread ..
How big is the admin abuse on this server... It is a big issue on LS RP & GF.
The admins are really cool on this server. Every week they'll hold some kind of event/contest with prizes. Like this go-cart derby,

A note to everyone, the server is in beta, so expect it to be a little unstable. They're always working on new features, and sometimes they don't work completely right. It's somethingawful.com run, so everyone in here is pretty cool, and all the retards killing everyone and not RP'ing get banned quick.
I am very interested in playing this, but I cannot find good information on how to obtain v1.0 san andreas. I would go out and purchase it right now from a store if they had it (alas, only version 2 to be found). Is there any reputable place that has the downgrade patch for version 2 or an online buy site for the original version 1.0?
Going to give it a shot hope admins are mature otherwise I will be leaving fast :P
Admin maturaty is very important to us and one of the main reasons the server was created.
I picked up a copy of San Andreas last night for 20$ over at Best Buy. I googled san andreas downgrade patch, installed it, then installed the multiplayer mod, and connected to the server. Even though i'm running vista, I didn't experience a single problem. This server is pretty fun. The community seems very nice and there is some small gang action. Within the first 30 minutes on, I met some guys and ended up chasing after this stripper who shot this guy earlier, even though we got jumped by her and her bodyguard heh. Theres somewhat of a learning curve when you get on if you are new like I was, but all you have to do is ask for help and someone can direct you to where you need to go. If you can get San Andreas by any means, its worth a try. The population seems to be a little low at least when I was on, but enough to play fine. I was on late hours though so thats probably why.
Implemented today was a deck of cards system which lets people play most card games they can think of. High stakes poker games will be held in The Yakuzas club and many more content updates like this are expected to come.
The first week or so I played this server it was spectacular. I had to dig out my old copy of GTA:SA for this after I saw a post about it on something awful. The gang fights, the cops, everything was just so much fun. I took a break for a day or two and I come back and my character is gone. They had some sort of major roll back eradicating all of my progress. Still I stuck with it, figured it was only a week and I’ve played WoW before for months so 1 week is no big deal.
Then the population completely dropped off and the immaturity of the admins starting shinning threw. I got spawn killed by some. They’re all on some ego trip. They hooked up all their friends with all the player spots that have any kind of authority. Its like I joined, played, and was just someone's bitch and that's all I was ever going to be. Then I dug up some things they did to another player:

That link may be NSFW (some bad text). Primiras is the head admin and Joe is a coder/admin. The sad part is this guy actually is from Israel. Sure the guy was pretty much an idiot but saying all that? They could have just left him alone or banned them. Finding that was pretty much the last straw. They’re constantly shit talking this other server at http://www.fromunda.net . I looked into them, joined up, and haven’t looked back. It’s got the same premise but better coded, better executed, and no racist admins. All the staff there are olders, a few are even military I hear, so I’d much rather play where I know I’m going be subject to hate or racism.

Will give that server a go seen as the other one was low popped and was just been killed and camped by admins and the people who follow them about.
Was looking forward to an RP server but the maturity of some of its members and the fact that even the admins and its users like to break the server rules was just beyond a joke I mean where is the fun of been camped by a bunch of guys with automatic weapons while your all alone with a bat. I think I managed to meet 2 people who did not just shoot me on site and was helpfull but all the others who where in the same gang I think didn't help or roleplay at all
Im pretty sure the previous two posters are either Dave or Tarzan from the server they hijacked ours to advertise. They are constantly stealing our original ideas, hijacking our threads, trying to DDOS our server, loging onto our server and trying to cause trouble etc. In reality, their server runs on the original godfather script with hardly anything changed. We on the other hand have several professional programmers who update the code with original ideas from our generaly more mature playerbase.
They have one coder that never does any work and admins that let their friends from Ultima Online get away with breaking any rules they like. Their lack of maturity is why we made this server.
I encourage everyone to play both servers and decide for yourself.

What's your in game name? I can help you out a bit, show you the ropes. The forums are great on fromunda.net for getting help. You're going to bump into jerks once and while but don't let that spoil your experience. I have yet to have anything but a positive encounter with the staff here. They're very quick to resolve issues and most of the cheat detection is automated now so they act more like "game masters" then diciplinarians.
Your forgetting to mention your banned from fromunda.net's server because you logged in and performed an exploit that screwed up a bunch of the gangs. Why? Because the admins there trusted you with a leadership postion. I don't really know to much about the politics of staffing or whats going on between you and fromunda.net. All I know is what happens when I play. I don't see anything but events being run, hackers being caught, and nice talks with their staff. Plus I play during off peak hours and there's typically less then 10 people on your server.
I think everyone should try them both. I don't know why you would think Whoopin is one of their admins or me for that matter. I just call's 'em like I see's 'em.

Actually I have been here for a long time I am not either of them people if you want to look up my gaming history feel free. woopin81on xfire you will see I have only played SA 1 or 2 hours. But yet I play other games alot more like eve cod4 etc. Sorry you feel you have to say I am someone else but this is not the case I was only pointing out my 1st experiance on the server I am kinda sad that it was not a good experiance and gave it a fair go and was pointing out any issues you had. End of the day I will leave the users here to make there own mind up on there experiance.
Like I said I have no reason to post anything bad about any server only installed GTA:SA to try the server out. I did and did not like it sorry but people and admins need to follow there own rule sets if it is going to work otherwise you just push newcomers away like my experaince. I would be willing to give it another shot as there is not many RP servers around that enforce rules was just making you aware of what happened.

Looks cool but if as you say the admins are giving themselve and there friends privilege, and spawn killing new people, how do they expect the game to get popular and keep a steady population??
Just like any game if there is unfairness people will get mad and leave really fast.
I hope you do somethin about that.
