I quit LOTRO probably 2 months after its release. I thought it was a really cool game. Extremely immersive, excellent quests, awesome world, and really the list goes on. The thing that I absolutely could not stand (I know this is me, and not everyone feels this way), was that the armor looked absolutely ridiculous...primarily the colors. I looked more like a confused super-hero rather than a fantasy-style knight. I just couldn't stand it. I couldn't understand how they could spend all of those years on a game like this and completely overlook how the player's character looks!!! Who's job was it? Who reviewed it? It really bothered the hell out of me. I just read that an update has been applied to the game that allows the player to look how they want despite the kind of armor that they are wearing. Along with it there are a number of other options, such as hair-cuts, etc. I am completely floored. It is now the mmorpg that I am 100% completely looking for. Way to go guys! I can't wait to re-enable my account and get back into it!

they did the same thing with eq2 ...hmmm...
I've tried out EQ2 many times, but I just can't get into it. I think it is the questing and the combat. It just seemed dull. It definitely did great in other areas though. Very cool world, nice graphics.
If you download the test server client then you can play a character there and see the new updates though. However, I'm not sure if you can play on that server with a trial or buddy key. Anyone know if there is a restriction of the test server (Roheryna) being for subscribers only?
One last question. Since you said it was primarily the colors that bothered you with the armors... did you try applying any of the dyes to them? Just about every piece of armor in LoTRo can be dyed a different color. There are quite a few different dyes to choose from, and they are usually in good supply on the AH. Some of the more exotic color choices can get a bit pricey, but you only have to apply the color once per piece, so it's not too bad. I just dyed a couple pieces of my armor last night, as I was going for a green look for my entire ensemble. The pants and boots weren't green... so I dyed them green. I think they turned out pretty nice.
Once book 12 goes live then you'll have quite a bit more options for looks as well (As long as you are level 20 or higher). Each character will be able to have 3 different looks. 1 of which will be your actual armor... the other 2 being cosmetic only. As long as your character can wear an item you can place it in one of your cosmetic slots. It should be interesting to see how much people take advantage of the system once it's live.
Thanks for the response Dragonace!
I do have a regular subscription that I will be re-enabling, so I should be able to hit the test server to check it out.
I don't think I ever did try dying the armor. I think that was at least half of my problem. The other half being the actual look of the armor. From what I read it sounds like you'll be able to wear pretty much anything you want, but still have your armor equipped. I didn't know that you had to be level 20 though. I'm not quite there, but its worth pursuing.
