You'd be paying to play the game's alpha stages. It's missing a lot of features that are standard in other games (PvP, engaging end-game, and crafting are to name a few).
The grind is not kind, and even though you can solo a lot of content, a recent patch has made it imperative that you do the correct missions at the right level or you will have to grind for experience in latter levels. Grinding mobs for experience in TR is the slowest and most boring activity I have ever experienced in any game.
Is the game worth it now? Hell no.
Will the game improve and be worth it later? Hell yes. You should wait to purchase this game, as the retail price may eventually drop and new content is being added irregularly. The updates are good for the most part, but they fix problems and add content that should have been addressed before launch.
Text Key: Observation, Opinion.
The only one who is able to tell you if it's worth it will be YOU
only you can stot forest fires
I'd say go for it, its 1 of the most solid games i have played for a long while. Lets just say you won't regret spending on it.
dont waste your money on it
i would wait at least a year for the game to work properly that is if it lasts that long, as the game populations arent that high anymore
Whether any game is worth it or not depends on the gamer. I enjoy the hell out of TR. My time is limited to an hour or two a day here and there and maybe 3 or 4 hours on a sunday.
I've really enjoyed my time getting to level 30. It took me a while and I'm more than satisfied with the money I spent on it. But now I'm waiting for some kind of incentive to continue. There's another 20 levels to go, but I don't have a real goal anymore. There's no pvp yet, there's not another class to attain, etc etc.
Ihaven't had a problem finding people to group with or anything, but I lack a goal now. I think having clan territories, vehicles, and new content in the future will be enough to motivate me.
I'd also really like to see them implement some kind of skill pool for the post-30 character that has maybe 20 or so skills you can buy with skills points (or even some kind of weird pvp token system or something) to keep advancing and differentiate your character.
In short, I say buy it. Hopefully by the time you get to level 30, some of the above will have come true. If not, you'll probably have enjoyed your stay like me. Or maybe you won't like it, but that's a chance you have to take.
coming from someone who was in beta and played the game for a little.......it falls into my category of "decent game not worth the subscription". DDO, CoH/CoV also fall into that category for me. I did have some fun while playing but as some posts before me have stated the game still has problems. Maybe in a couple months to a year these will be fixed and the game might be worth your money. I believe its not worth it at the stage its in right now. The game has potential and Im going to keep an eye on it. In the end it all comes down to you, the gamer, whether or not its your style or its something you dont like.
I just extended my subscription by an additional 90 days. Now if the servers were actually up I would be happy
