ZhanghiaZhanghia Member UncommonPosts: 1,312

Hey, just a quick question. Can someone tell about the differences between the game versions?

I know there's like.. three versions and I'm so confused as to what they're different about.

I know one is SOTNW, one is Granado Espada and one is Phillipines.. so, some help please? Thank you.

Sword of the New World is the Granado Espada version run from the USA and made the host all countries that currently don't have a Granado Espada version.  However, the company that runs it sucks so many go to the Granado Espada SG version which is hosted from Singapore and is meant to be the host for Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and Vietnam.  There is also a Granado Espada version for Korea, Japan, and China.

Why does it suck and why would I choose the Singapore version over the USA one? Give details, please.

Well, basically they are just hosted in different countries and by different companies.

The US version used to be a bit different than other versions, you could play without having to be at your comptuer (your people would continue to attack and heal on their own by themselves all the time) and you could pick a costume for your characters when yous tarted. But with the recent update, it's like all the rest.

The US version is a bit behind the other ones, though. I think the Korean one is on 2.6, while the US version hasn't completely implemented 2.4 yet

There are also some differences in cash shop prices. I think the US is more expensive. But then some stuff is cheaper, and I think you get more starting character slots in the US version (15).

R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there

Actually the US and Singapore versions are both 2.4 as of 1/22/08.

It seems since the US launched a month before Singapore, Singapore got to launch the expansion first.

From what I have heard the only real differences are the cash shops. Singapore is suspose to be much cheaper to purchase items then Granado.

Looking at the two cash shops, they really aren't that different.  They both basically have the same prices for 90% of the items.  There are some that are more expensive but by like 3-5 cents.  THEN There are are Promotion Scroll and Upgrade Accelerators.  They ARE more expensive on Sword (by about $3).  However, K2-Neume has said that price is going to drop next patch.  Also the Quarters Slot Permit (SNW) is going to be about $1 cheaper than any other version.

There are a few items we don't know about yet since they haven't been released (Lucifer/Devil Wings, Expert Promotion, Veteran Lacquers) so we won't really know until then.

EDIT: Also, it looks like Sword is getting unique packages that sGE doesn't have.  So far they look to be a pretty good deal (~$14.95).  See them here: http://forum.swordofthenewworld.com/index.php?showtopic=19246
