Was the release date for EQ2 pushed back b/c I thought it said that it would be released on Oct. 1st?

2004 is the only release date you can bet on, everything else is speculation by game sites.

I remember in the initial dev interviews they were pretty sure it would be done in 2003. Hah.. ahh.. I love these release date games.

But I guess they havn't really given one to my knowledge, other than late 2004.

EQ2 has onyl ever been pushed back once, that was from year 2003 to 2004. SoE have never announced exactly when the game will be released, altho they are promising a release date for 2004.

Personly i think the release date will be Nov/Dec, but the way things are looking, most likely december.

I don't want a game released until it is ready to be released. I don't know how many times I've heard about a game that was released to meet the Christmas shopping season and turned out to be so buggy that it was nearly unplayable. Plus, how many MMORPG's were released too early and consequently lost a ton of subscribers? Once a game receives a bad reputation, it's hard to get it back, even if the kinks have been worked out. EQ2 hasn't even gone into the closed beta phase yet, so it wouldn't surprise me if it weren't released until next year.

My guess it will be late spring this year at the earliest. If it's not even in batea yet, they still have alot of testing to do. SOE learned from SWG...don't release till it's ready to luanch. The graphics themselves they admit will be the biggest challenge for most people's computers...I'm sure that will be a big part of testing process.

beta 1 just just started. there is 3 or 4 stages. preorders are out. i would say by christmas.

I always look at the worst case senerios...maybe early spring...but this game is so vast and awsome in graphics and content...I forsee alot of problems on peoples computers that will need to be ironed out...remember they take people with different types of computers so they can catch as many bugs as they can to fix before release...

Can't push back a release date if there never was one... SOE never stated a specific date, only a timeframe. They said they will release the game before the end of the year... theres a long way to go...

As Moorgard's promised a 2004 release, then I expect it. This is a game which can afford to add labor to its development if that'd make the difference.

Gamestop said Nov. 15th was their "soft" release date. That's a long way off for someone who doesn't have an MMO to play at the moment. Ahh well I guess I would like to hope that when it is realeased it is in a finished form, and not just an extention of Beta.

I didnt think it was in beta at all yet.

If it hasnt been in closed, 300+ people, beta for at least a month or 2 by now, then itll be horribly rushed to get out by 2004.

It is in Friends and Family Beta, has been for 3 weeks. It'll be here soon enough and I've seen way too many "When is the release date?" posts. Just go to SoE's EQ2 home page and check it out.

You know damn well this game will be released wayyyyy to early and be 70% complete by the deadline. And it wont have PvP at release what a rip =(... Im seriously losing faith in this game.

Thats why I don't think they will release this game sooner rather than later. WoW is Blizzards baby and EQ2 is SOE's baby. WoW is taking way longer to come out of beta because they want it near perfect. I really don't think SOE will take the chance of putting out a game that is not ready. There is alot to do with this game...I think everyone should be prepared for a Spring rather than a Winter release date. SOE doesn't want a SWG situation where everyone is is claiming "We are paying for beta". Companies are learning that the consumer wants a quality product as bug free as possible on game release. Coming out with tons of patches over the course of a games first year is not acceptable anymore.

eq1 was and eq2 will msot likely be mostly pvm.. if you want pvp play a different game :O... Ryl? ac1? shadowbane? lineage2? um.. *shrug*.. ac1 is prolly best shot atm, they releasing expansion for graphcis and adding a new island and upgrading pvp which is already awesome tastic.. um... putting out another pvp server soon too...
