The official forums are and have been down since December. That is why there is no activity on them, the only thing you can see on them is the support and news sections.
As far as dead, I wouldnt say that, there are still a lot of new players playing the game. I just hope the new people get good fast so I can continue pre-mading 4v4 with some good competition.
This game is dead. Try an internet search for any new info on Auran or Fury.
Most of the 'elite' players just have an advantage of gear that no longer drops in game, and skills that were much easier to unlock in the past. New players come in with such a huge disadvantage in gear/skills earned, there will never be a fair playing field for them to commit to the game. Many of the best players haven't logged in for months, the official website has not been even updated in a month, and the forums are still frozen since last december.
Sure - FURY is fun fast paced PVP which really is more developed than WOW, but with so many balancing and feedback issues left unaddressed, those that are trying to 'climb' the ladders are delusional.
3 more months until AOC.. then WAR online and The Chronicles of Spellborn later in the year? I expect this game to shutdown entirely by fall of 2008.
until then - it is what it is.... a somewhat fun game with a FAIL rating.
The latest news was posted around January 20th about the future of Fury, they plan to release a revised version to the game developer's meeting (or something like that) in california in February. As far as new players coming in the game with a disadvantage, you'd be surprised to see how many clans have now turned their goals around to help these new players get a headstart in the game. The community is starting to get together as what it is, a community. There have been talks as to why the dev team hasn't directly communicated with the playerbase, some think its due to passed relations, some think because they just wish the game to end. Whatever it may be, its not smart to believe in any of it now. The gaming community is growing, despite what people were left to believe, with now 6 gates of sanctuaries active and full. clans now growing to 50-100 players, if the devs are still there and still working hard, the life of this game is only beginning, and there will be a future.
FURY community guide Systi here...
It's not dead, and as described by a few above, the game is still doing well. Populations are higher than they were at release, and have been since the F2P model.
As for the forums, they were brought down for a handful of reasons, but mainly because new ones are in the works. Yeah yeah I know most just assume that as a rumor, but I've seen them myself.
The dev team has been shrunk as most of you who followed FURY know, but it still is being worked on, and there still is the train of thought that FURY is here to stay.
by the end of beta the competition had proven to be a great idea, but overall I would say at the time the game seemed to perform really poorly under DX10. I can't say I felt it was good enough to be worth my money initially but if its F2P, maybe I'll take a look again.

As the most optimistic people here are saying, the population did increase around the near year with their "immortal for life" package and new f2p model, however, most of those players have now left. The game feels like a graveyard. i'd say 90% of the time I log on, nobody is playing anything but Carnage (killing bots...extremely tedious and simply altogether not fun) and maybe 8 or 9 people playing 4v4.
My Neverwinter Nights server has more players. Seriously.
I was the one who posted the last update that i found of any word from FURY at the time i did it i really felt like the community needed to hear something rather it be promising or damaging one way or another. I keep hearing the NUMBERS are up in population since the F2p model was up and more ppl are loggin now than before however like this qoute ... most times when ive logged in i see a near graveyard and most killing in carnage .... most of us didnt get FURY to kill senseless bots we got it to kill each other in a virtual manner of course ...lol And when u check the weekly ladders they dont have near as many ppl on them ranked or listed as i have seen in the past ... so again i ll say most are probably chosen and the idea is to get from chosen to hero / immortal status as far as business goes.. so ill end once again saying ... u can bring a million ppl to ur game but it doesnt mean they ll buy it ... as an optimist thats hoping that FURY makes the comeback of the YR this year [ im excited about a lot of upcoming games but its not PURE PVP and when i just want to kick a lil A@@ I just want to kick a lil A@@ ] im hoping to see the Forums come back figured they dtook them down for pressure more than anything the forums were killing them personally ...and definitely show some life for the game from the dev side as well as back to the community side from the devs ... But hey they know what they are doing lets just hope its not letting FURY die
"Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die."
I honestly don't know when you two log on, but every day for the last week there have been non-stop vortexes, 4v4s, carnages, and 1v1s. There have been quite a few sessions of real BB as well. As far as being optimistic, I've been as straight forward and realistic in most of my posts, giving possibiltiies on both ends of the spectrum. The only time I do experience a graveyard of an atmosphere in fury is around 3 AM on a Sunday night. No, the population isn't huge, and I don't agree that is even greater than launch due to the fact that the ladders had well over 1000 players listed, but it is growing. And also, yes, a whole lot, if not, the majority of the old players are gone, and some of them are still found on these forums posting about a game they've stopped playing. But, a number of them have returned, and many of those between that started between AoC launchday and Jan 10's Immortal for Life deadline have stayed, created their own clans, and enjoying it for what it is, a fairly decent PVP game. The ladders listed over 600 people this week, nothing in comparison during launch, but after the mass exodus of old players it is definately an improvement. Before it was common to see as low as 200-300 players on that list. You've heard these 'optimistic' posts yourself, I plea you to log in the game on normal hours with an open mind and see for yourself. I doubt it will change stubborn minds grasping hold of their pride of being right (which i'm not aiming towards any of you, but from a general group of people often found on these forums), but atleast you'd know the real status of the game. Look at the number of Gates of War, look at all the active warzones, all the people in the chat, all the new reborns, etc. I hope you guys can agree to atleast the fact that the game is not as silent and inactive as claimed, and that there is an improvement on player population. As far as where the developers are taking this game, I also hope they plan on continuing the development of its development. Wish them luck.
Edit: Redundancy
You forgot Darkfall too! Great games coming out this year for sure!
haha fury is like dead. it was already dead when people found out how crazy the gameplay is. i dont even have to look for a dirt cheap price anymore cos almost everywhere in sydney fury sells less than 30 bucks but id save that money for a valentines day gift.
