I've already tried WoW, Runescape, Fate, and Guild Wars. Any other suggestions of games for me to try?

Dungeons and Dragons Online.  If you're looking for something that's a real departure from, say, WoW...it's a good choice.  Quests are very much "quests", in that they have a story, a hand crafted dungeon for each with it's own traps and monsters and treasures...no "go kill X number of X".  The combat system is active, and considered by many to be the best in MMO's today.  The player creation and customization is extremely deep, combining stats, skills, feats, enhancements, and the ability to multi class, creating hundreds of possible characters nothing like another.  Although the first part of the crafting system was introduced a couple weeks ago, it's currently designed for high level play (so far), so you probably won't see it in the trial.

oh yeah...there's a free trial LOL!  Best part of all!

It probably shouldn't take THAT long in reality (timer will shrink a lot)...but yeah.  It's the core game, plus every expansion from the last 2 years which more than doubled the content from launch...so it's not a demo, it's the whole shebang.

is DDO worth playing now? ive seen a lot of praise for it lately, wheras it used to be thought of as a joke.

I'd say so, but I'd also let the trial speak for itself.  Remember though, any game that decides to do things differently than WoW gets a lot of hate piled on.  In DDO's case, it was for forced grouping, instanced encounters, no giant open world to travel across looking for "quests", no PVP.  Personally, I like all those things LOL!  D&D was never about PVP, it was always about a small group of adventurers taking on a quest, etc.

That said, the grouping isn't as forced, there's a lot of support for solo play now.  They've added "explorer areas" which are large open landscapes with monster spawns and rare encounters, etc. for that "walking around exploring" feel (there's now a dozen of these, just within the last year).  The content was more than doubled as of Mod 5 since release...and Mod 6 came out 2 weeks ago...and all expansions have been free.  There is PVP now, although it's strictly for fun in either arenas or through a matching system.  There were no raids at launch, there are now 7 raids ranging from 10th to 16th level.  The first portion of the crafting system went live with Mod 6, and although not very deep, it's pretty substantial in what you can actually accomplish.

Why listen to me though, the trial is free and here's what some major players said over the last month:

TenTonHammer says "Overall, Dungeons & Dragons Online remains a very fun game. If you have not tried it, the fast paced combat interface and small group content really are some of the best examples in MMOGs."

Massively says "DDO still isn't the biggest of MMOs out there, but it seems to have found a pretty sure footing, and there is no doubt that the team behind it is interested in making sure players have access not only to typical hacking and slashing, but also to some complex and rewarding game and group experiences. The Shroud is a very nice example of how MMO designers can break boundaries in what's expected of MMO gameplay"

Gamespy says "The company's earlier release, Dungeons & Dragons Online, is still going strong. According to the company, the subscriber base, while not boasting world-beating numbers, has had relatively little turnover and the game continues to hold a steady group of hardcore players. That's a tribute to Turbine's continuing commitment to the title and the steady stream of content upgrades it releases every four to six months."

MMORPG.COM says "While the visual style was there from the start, the actual feel of D&D took a bit longer to develop. I have to give Turbine credit for listening to their audience, as most of my complaints about the earlier version of the game have been addressed in subsequent" modules.

You should be a bit patient and try the newcomer of NCSoft the so called AION: The Tower of Eternity.

The second closed beta is starting soon (only in Korea) but there will be no closed betas after that.

The game will be released simultanously in Korea, Europe and the USA. It has great potential but it won't be able to please everyone out there.

I can't wait to get my hands on that game.

I have played almost every MMORPG out there D&DO included and AION seems finally to be the game i was looking for for a long time.

Try using this link, it's directly to the High Res copy, may be faster and may let you restart

Nah, I have no idea what that "level3" stands for, but that's the entire game with high res graphics.  The only thing you can't do with a trial account is use the mail system.  You have no level cap in the trial though.

    Here's a better explanation :)

Not completely accurate, it isn't being released simultanously in the 3 continents, we will have to wait a pair of months, tho we will be running a beta by the time they have their release.

    LOL!!!

Dude, just turn it on over night if you want, but it's only going to take a couple hours at most if you're on high speed.

p.s. you gotta remember man, you're downloading an entire MMO and a dozen or so updates/expansions.

I really didn't like LOTRO.  It's a pretty fair critique to call it WoW, but set in the Tolkein world.  That said, if you liked WoW, you may really like LOTRO.  I didn't like WoW...so...there you have it
