"The most basic designs of EverQuest II have been tweaked to attract the many players who felt that the original game was simply too much to handle. Specifically, no more will players be required to find several dozen of their closest friends to clean out a dungeon or slay a dragon. Instead, EQII focuses on smaller groups, limiting party membership to six. Quests are accordingly less demanding (from a human resources standpoint), but no less epic. The idea is to create a sprawling, living world that can become a gamer's vacation spot, rather than a home away from home."

The new video is mostly clips from other videos, not really exclusive, though it does have some interviews I hadnt seen before.
Good for a view while waiting though

"When you find yourself sinking into Madness, dive"
Translation: Greed prevails again. For those of you that take offense to that statement, quit reading now. I'm not trolling you. The statement comes more from a concern for the genre as a whole.
EQ1: How many times have you been scared in EQ1? I myself, was scared often. The reason: the penalty for death was high enough that I really really really did not want to die.
EQ1: Travelling to a new destination was a quest in itself! Who remembers the first time you travelled from Qeynos to Freeport (pre-books!). The travel in the original EQ epitomized the term 'getting there is half the fun'. I even had a DE that made a name providing young adventurers an escort service. That was some fun roleplaying to be sure.
Enter the second and third gen mmo's. What tangible changes have been made to make the game more accessible to 'the masses'? You guessed. Lower death penatly and easy travel. What a shame...
Now, I understand the nature of business. To make a profit. The changes I lament are targeted directly towards that goal. It's hard to argue the concept (Although EQ1 in it's original for was pretty successful wouldn't you say!?!?). But in the end, players coming onto the mmo scene now will never know the true excitement of completing a long journey while avoiding costly death. Freeport is now just a click away at lvl 1.

dbl post.....
I didn't hear anything about gameplay other than phrases such as "hundreds of hours," and "thousands of players." We've all come to expect those things in massively multiplayer online games. EverQuest 2 definitely looks like it will sell hardware.
Shame about the video, as I had hoped for something more in an "exclusive featurette" but still worth a view to remind ourselves what will come.
The review was an interesting read as I, being only an occasional EQ player, hadn't really realised that EQ is limited for my style of approach! Also, didn't help that the reviewer seemed to be listing some "differences" in EQII to EQ that I thought were exactly the same
Doesn't change how much I'm looking forward to this though, whether it comers out in September as retailers seem to be saying or November as this review states.
kickass teaser... never been an EQ fanboy but for sure i'm going to be in the sequel as long the gameplay will have something good to keep me in it .
edit : yea someday I won't just be the player ...mab I'll be a part of the game's creation ... dream on they said
Found the article to be a bit refreshing, as its the first one I remember having tidbits about the gameplay (combo wheel mention).
I'm hoping for more articles to give insight about gameplay, especially things such as downtime. There may be more out there articles with gameplay info out there, but I don't go looking so this is the first.
November release though? *cough*
