    You lazy.....Bas....

Well okay then lets sum up what makes this MMO different from most others.

    -Unique Artstyle graphics

-Quest based, minor XP for killing mobs, major XP for finishing Epic questlines

    -WASD movement

-FPS/ combat... where FPS mechanisme do the aiming, and RP mechanisme calculate the damage

-Rolling combat bar... you have 5 abbilities at your hand every one time, after using one of these abbilities the bar rolls on to the next 5 abbilities... This way its fast action combined with tactics, as how and where are you going to place which abbilities on your combat bar.

-Items have no stats, You choose your favourite looking item and add sigils to that for stats.

-PvP is a huge part of the game, tough there is NO FFA server planned. PvP will be : Arena, duels, FFAPVP zones where you fight over resourcess, and later on ther could even be a shard  that is a t war and which can be conquered by player guilds and /or high houses.

-AI(mobs) is the most important thing in this games design.

LORE: the world has exploded and there are thousands of shards thrown intoo the universe glued together by a spellborn storm. You can travel with ships between these shards (flying ships) No typicall high fantasy worlkd with elves and dwarves.

    --------------------------------------------------------

Now i wet your appetite, hurry over to the website and find out more good things about this game

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Thank you Lord.Bachus I am so sold it’s not even funny.  Every point you mentioned is a HUGE selling point for me.

See it pays to be lazy.

Well let me continue my laziness and ask THE BIG QUESTION.  When is the release date?  Is this another 2008 Q1?

  • RdlabanRdlaban Member UncommonPosts: 396

q1 2008 is estimated release yes.

It will most likely be the one game that takes on the players dissapionted with AoC and War:)

    Edit: war has been delayed.

yea this game will be better than AOC and war : )

  • rishakirishaki Member Posts: 181

You might think it will be better than AOC and war but i am not so sure about that. I hope spellborn will be better than these two since i like the artwork but i will try all tree and pick the one with least grind and most fun untill AION is released, that game is something i am  really looking forward to.

If the amount of grind is somewhat of an obstacle for you, you will certainly prefer Spellborn compared to AoC and WAR. But since you are looking forward to AION I suppose grind is not that big of an issue for you, since Spellborn will be better then AION too in this respect.

AoC has been delayed as well.

I fear that WAR will be delayed again, reducing the pressure on Funcom to release which in turn will delay the AoC again. The TCOS devs seem to favor the "when it's done" release date anyway and with competitors delaying as well, what's the hurry?

To be honest, I don't think even god knows which game will be released first: AoC, WAR or TCOS.

Lord.Bachus's description of sigils is somewhat inaccurate.

There are three categories of slots for sigils (which are like gems): skill, weapon and jewelry.  Skill and weapon slots are associated with your *character*, not your equipment, and the number of slots increases as you level.  Jewelry is the only equipment with slots, but it is not visible on your avatar.

It is very interesting and exciting to note that sigils can be swapped for different stat configurations, when you are not in combat, but any sigil you use is soulbound.

Let me add here that combat is entirely skill-based.  There are no chance procs or dice rolls determining whether you hit or execute a spell or strike.  This requires more FPS aiming skill and judgement, but it is not clear to me whether it is like  the approximate aiming of Tabula Rasa.

Lets not compare anything with Tabula Rasa.  Ever.  At least anything we actually like.

Oblivion and Fable are examples of comparable skill-based combat systems.

My description of sigils was slightly inaccurate.  The categories are item and skill, and item includes weapon and jewelry.  Item sigils can only be installed or removed at a forge for a fee.  Skill sigils are swappable out of battle.

No sticky targeting, what you aim at, you hit (or miss if you don't).

Only thing that really throws me off is that rollign combat bar thing....hmmm dont know if i like the sound of that mechanic.  Oh well will see when it releases, plenty of people will give insight

The rolling combat bar is pretty interesting, and it all depends on how you look at it. Generally in games like WoW you'll have a series of attacks that you perform and you're hitting 1, 2, 3, 1, 4, 2, and so on performing those skills. This just simplifies it. Instead of hitting 1, 2, 3, 1, 4, 2, you're hitting 1 [bar 1, skill x], 1 [bar 2, skill y], 1 [bar 3, skill z], 1 [bar 4, skill a], 2 [bar 5, skill b]. You can place your skills in any order and any rank on any bar. The bad thing about this bar is you need a flexible skill deck so you can compensate for difference situations. So in a way it simplifies things, other ways it complicates things.

    Thats my 2 cents

From what i v read its sort of like a small combo system allowing for more complex moves. Like for excample open with a stun, debuff to fire, boom mass fireball doing 5054250495 points of dmg. That was an excample i made up based on what i read. It makes the combat more interesting, meaning u cant run around launching that 10k dmg skill, u have to do a couple of moves before that
