Mods, Addons and User Interface

just a quick one: is it possible to customize your UI in WAR via mods/addons.

and if it is~ to what extent ? will they provide extensive API ? or just a simple skinning / moving the bars around ?

much appreciated for your time & attention.

haven't released the extent of what they will allow yet.  They did say there will be moding, and that they are using LUA i believe.

Actually, this from Keen's Corner at Warhammer Vault.

Josh Dreshcher said, "There’s nothing functionally that you can add via a mod that isn’t available in the standard, out of the box UI."

This was very good to hear, indeed!

    OMG! -1 for WAR.

No UI mobs = crappy UI. Every gamer has it's own needs/style and no

unique UI will ever be good enough to satisfy 100k+ different gamers.

PS. Why... WHY they keep placing HP bar @ the top-left corner of the screen!?!?!?

Thanks, I just googled it and found the forum & currently reading it.

    Here's the link.

And apparently there's a current discussion about it too.

I believe there'll still be UI customization (in the form of LUA scripts), it's just that he's claiming that there'll be no (known) functionality (read: unfair advantage) that can be added via mods.

Although this seemed to be customizable, I totally agree w/ you: why top-left corner ?

You can move your HP bar to whatever corner you choose to.

    Click n drag ftw

There will be UI customization. In fact, my site already has a "Custom UI Download" section already built in preparation for it.

What Josh is saying is that you will be able to modify the look of the UI, but you won't be able to ADD any mods to it.  I think this is an excellent move! I play games for the challenge, not to gain an unfair advantage over someone because I've got a mod that they don't have.

Frankly speaking, I think this bodes well for the game!

Love it, love it, love it.

    Agree 120%

I'm sure they will allow UI customization satisfactorily.  Things like the basic moving of toolbars and windows, adding toolbars, etc.

However, anything that gives an advantage in the UI that the opposing side can't do as well will not be allowed.  Keep things on an even playing field mechanically, and let your wits and strategy be the winning factors.  Can't ask for anything more than that.

I also agree. I mean, I just felt dirty using decursive in WoW.

As long as the customization is equal to that which is featured in GW I don't have any problems with lack of support for other mods.

As long as i can move everything around on screen I don't really see the big point in needing mods unless its a mod to change the skin of the UI those are cool.  Mod's outside of skinning and freeing up the UI for moveability  are in my opinion usually cheats.

So what then would a mod that auto-sells all your junk loot with one button be considered? A "Cheat"?

Also the fact that that exists shows that the UI mods are not just decorative, I hope mythic stays on top of that..

G15 keyboard will be your macro. Use it and you will p0wn noobs.

  • NimlokiNimloki Member Posts: 12

I have a G15 Keyboard and it doesn't seem to be recognized by the game.. Even when running it in default mode..  I read somewhere they would eventually allow it..  Any help here?  Is anyone able to make theirs work?

Thats not really a 'UI' mod its more like I'm lazy mod...and its also an exploitable / complaint one too.  Like all the people who got constantly scammed in WoW because they stupidly used oen of those auto mail opener programs and someone had sent them a 'gift' fishing rod for 200 gold and suddenly poof all their gold is gone.

The UI in WAR right now can be shrunk Universally, by individual peice, moved wherever you want etc etc there's really not any need to go beyond that as far as the UI.

The only mods I'm interested in are number crunching mods, things like you have killed X so many times, or at current exp rate you will level in X minutes, that sort of thing

... There are UI Mods they released a UI mode programming interface before frigging Launch atleast get your facts straight

bTW if you hate the placement of ANY UI item you can hit Escape scroll down the menu to User Interface and DRAG ANY ITEM anywhere you want too ...

God people bitch about the dumbest things without even actually reading the User Manual or attempting to find out if the UI is moveable or scaleable which it is.

Good luck finding those...Mythic isn't a huge fan of them but they're nto illegal.  BTW power leveling / number crunching does you little good in this game.

  • mhollisjrmhollisjr Member Posts: 16

I said nothing about power leveling, at least I dont' think I did, just number crunching ^^
