Im really starting to get annoyed by post like these... Noone knows the release date, since there have been no officiel informations. Just keep an eye on www.warhammeronline.com and wait... and im pretty sure, that when there is a officiel release date, you will see alot of posts on this forum!
I remember from 2 video podcast(no, I'm not gonna search them and link em here), that Paul said they where gonna dye if the game wasn't release early 08.
Of course I knew he would suffer from it, cause this is the ways of MMOs. Delay delay delay. Execpt for LOTRO who meets his release date and had a pretty good game at lauch.
I do beleive that a summer release is probable for WAR. But a 09 push but is as much probable.
Q2 would indicate that the game is scheduled to fall in line with most 'summer breaks' that US schools have. Kids would be spending their summer playing this game. So, the April-June estimate is in order there. If kids get hooked on the game and they are deep into it, they would probably act as 'free advertisement' or publicity for the game when they returned to school (August/Sept).
...
As far as the argument of MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY... It all boils down to this:
Which are you more comfortable saying? "The 15th of August", 2008 OR "August 15tj, 2008"? Personally, I can't say that I'm all that thrown off by either.
And yes, the Metric system does make more sense. But who cares if it's mile or kilometer? Let's discuss which side of the car the bleedin' stearing wheel is supposed to be on, shall we?
Regardless that's not "american" measuements... it was actually the English system.. since the colonist that became the "americans" were... *drum roll* English colonies.
I'm aware of the system's history and how the length of "1 foot" would change based on the current king's actual foot length, but it's also believed that the original Metric system was developed in London, England prior to the adoption of the system by the French. I call it "American" because everyone knows the Americans still use it on a daily basis... can we say the same for the English? If not, what was the point of your comment?
If you really want to discuss this then you can PM me. Instead of clogging up the OP's thread.
*edit* and if you do PM please at least google up UK Metric before you do. So that you can see the current conversion in the UK compared to the US.. the opposition to the system and the permanent exemptions made for the UK. I don't mind having an educated arguement but it doesn't belong here.
To the original topic... my actual comment is this and no I have no links.. this is just my feeling.
I played DAoC since it launched but I've never been a Mythic fanboi. Many times I've said pretty bad things about them.
With that said...
My personal belief is that if they release this game soon(tm) it will not be up to the qualifty level people expect or that is required.
Obviously that has nothing to do with what they choose to do.
So I won't be suprised to see it released very late in the year or moved to early 2009.
This is just my opinion and I don't claim it to be anything else.
Ok for a start anyone that said 2009 is doing nothing more than trying to irritate people. They have no information that could possibly lead them to that conclusion and I am sure they write it with a sly smirk on their faces.
The official release period at the moment is Q2 2008. So the latest I would expect to see release including delays would be sometime between Q2 and mid Q3. That's logical and based on the official statement that Q2 date is 'set in mud', So it may slide to Q3 if anything cropped up to delay it alot.
Absolute worst case scenerio if a falling US spy satellite fell to earth and crashed through the roof of the offices and spread toxic gas and killed off half the dev team! then Q4 2008 (and if you belive that cover story your more gullable than a Bush supporter)
The only way we will see a 2009 release is if cloverfield actually happens in Warhammers' Studio Carpark. i.e. will never happen.
is that dd/mm/yyyy? or mm/dd/yyyy? why do americans have to take something that is logical and good and change it just to be different which makes no sense
Essentially, because we are attempting an evil conspiracy to rule ... (looks around suspiciously) ... you know what ... (makes a gesture indicating a globe).
~ First off, we started by making English an international language (assisted by the U.K.). This is truly evil since hardly anybody can understand English grammar or spell English words correctly. Mwahahahaha.
~ Next we do brain-washing techniques by marketing Hollywood movies world-wide. Americans are the good guys (not strictly true) so everybody will cheer for the Americans. We like that.
~ Then, we flooded the world with our *ahem* cuisine -- namely: cheeseburgers and fries. Please note that we are eliminating the word "French" in French Fries because we do not EVER want to give France credit for anything. We allow Brits to say, "chips."
Our partners in crime are -- naturally -- the British, the Australians and New Zealanders ... but especially the British. (We avoid Canada because there are some French there.)
The British Prime Minister along with the support of the House of Commons and House of Lords tell ALL American Presidents what to do -- what the gameplan is.
This way, if anything goes wrong (and it usually does), the British have "plausible denial" and will "disavow all knowledge of the operation."
Like Iraq. We asked John Bull (England) if we could attack Iraq. Brits said, "Tally-ho." Americans go in, Brits follow, Brits wait for Americans to get stuck, and they then go home.
Brilliant and elegantly planned.
Later, for a reward, the Yanks ask the Brits what they want. The Brits say, "We want access to all secret, sophisticated, cutting-edge technology." And we say, "Okay ... here, take it."
And the Brits also say, "And give us free stuff." Yanks say, "Sure, take what you want and tell the Queen we said hi."
And that's the plan and that's how it has been working ever since the U.K lost its colonies.
Cheers, mate.
(Undercover British operatives say the release date will be June 2008.)
I hope the game is out sooner rather than later but overall, I just hope it is a smooth launch like DAOC. With that said, I doubt we will see it this Summer given the state of beta and the fact that many companies do not like to launch in the Summer. It seems like Quarter 2 and Quarter 4 are the most popular times to launch games, espcially MMO's in recent history. Mythic is also known for historically launching in the Fall. I expect it will be delayed about 3-4 more months for "polish" and final tweaking. That would put it sometime into September/October. However, I hope I am wrong and the game is complete and ready in June. I can't wait. My guess is October 14, 2008 and I hope I am wrong.
You could be right.
My hope is for May. That is not very likely.
My fallback position is June (late June).
Could they push it past second quarter 08? Yep, they could, but I am pretty sure with continuous development time from December (the restart of beta) to June (six months later) is a reasonable amount of time to add and polish the content they added.
Of course, in June they could look at what they've got and say, "Okay, we need 60 more days to finish this and go gold."
Either 60 or 90 more days would still put in third quarter 08 -- which also seems reasonable.
~~~
Only this is, the winter is ending and spring and early summer are good times for MMO releases. They might try hard to hit this timeframe.
If the game is solid and plays well, I personally could wait for any additional content in the form of post-release patches. Would not bother me at all.
I'd say that August would be the most probable of the two dates
I'd say that August would be the most probable of the two dates
a friend just told me the pre-release is 6/10/08
is that dd/mm/yyyy? or mm/dd/yyyy?
June 10th is what gamestop says,but who knows that date isn't set in stone or anything.
You are SO right there.
It wouldnt surprise me if WAR got delayed to ´09
My guess would be any time from late spring to early winter.
Its going to make it in june
Got to keep positive
I just hope it doesnt get delayed again! Im sick of delays. Im still not able to get into the beta.
I WANT TO PLAY ALREADY!!!!
Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
Playing EVE Online and AOC.
Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD
The release date is Q2 of 2008, so that must be anywhere between APRIL and JUNE
Not earlier or later.
I think I wouldnt survive another delay...
I hope they would release an exact date... Gotta plan my no-life streak
My guess would be October 2008.
IIRC, this is the official response. Last I heard, they were shooting for mid-October.
Patience is a virtue. You don't want them to release it broken, unbalanced, and full of bugs.
Why do people keep posting it will come AFTER june 2008. I dont believe that crap until you give a link with proove where you read it.
It's done when it's done.
So stop nerding about this game, just forget it, till it hits gold.
