Don't buy gold or powerleveling!

the people who powerlevel a character in any MMO are totally unreliable. I have been banned from WoW twice now. buying gold is too obvious. the in game admins monitor the mail systems (in WoW) and if you recieve a huge amount of gold all of a sudden they will get suspicious and give you a final warning or permanately ban you from the game. take my advise.

  • daarcodaarco Member UncommonPosts: 4,276

Yeah LOL, who would wanna powerlevlel and skip playing the game? That would be as paying for the game twice...without playing.

    Only stupid.

Interesting, after looking the other way, I'm surprised to hear Blizzard has finally decided to take a tough stance against gold selling.  But that should make a lot of folks pretty happy so its good to see they are sticking to their guns.

Though in the future, make sure you don't send money through the mail system, everyone knows they made changes so they could monitor that.  Make sure that your vendor hands it to you directly in game and in smaller, odd amounts. Of course they can easily track a transaction of 1 billion gold from one character to another.

Also, another good idea is to have a mule account to trade with. That way if you get banned you won't get you main nailed. (make sure you aren't too quick to transfer the cash to the other character)

Also, never buy from a vendor who advertises in-game, Blizzard watches them much more than some of the others.

Who the hell are you, and why should I care?

If you do trade through mail and if you let gold go to your main toon....

It's sort of your own fault if you get banned =) lol. hehe.

Don't blame the companies you buy those services from blame yourself for stupidly buying it in the first place.

It is obvious that those things are easily spoted and games warn you that it is against there rules. No matter what you do though they win, I mean if you loose your account you will prob buy a new one, so I guess if u enjoy the game why do it? and if you dont like it why play it?

Not that I want to advocate conducting any business with the farmers. However, if you used a credit card for the purchase, you can easily dispute the charge to your bank and/or stop payment on it before it fully processes and credits their account. But keep in mind that if you did use a credit card...you gave them your credit card/billing information. They now know everything about you and they have already proven they don't play by the rules - Take it for what it is worth.

It's way too easy to earn gold now in WoW esp by doing the daily quest. There's simply no point in buying virtual gold for WoW ..you'll only get yourself banned from the game.

Thanks for the warning but if you decide to cross that line then you should be prepared to lose it all as well. Travelling the easy route isn't fraught without its perils and well, you seem to have found out the hard way. What irks me is the hypocritical ways of some games, saying one thing and enforcing one view and then turning right around and doing another.

You don't ban people for buying in game currency if you design into the game a means of turning real cash into in game currency by a conversion method. The act of doing so says volumes about a companys motivations and the contempt it has for its customers. Finding another way into your credit card and not wanting the player to find a better value that doesn't profit them.

That's what you get for cheating and being too lazy to level yourself up.

I've never understood the "it's the game's fault" mentality and I don't understand how people can actually buy into that.

Saying it's something wrong with the game is a cop-out. If you don't enjoy the game don't play it, end of story. Problem solved. There are others who do enjoy the game quite well, play it legitimately and do just fine.

People buy money or power-leveling services because they want a short-cut to end-game with as little effort of their own as possible. Even in MMOs where it's extremely easy to level and make money (e.g. WoW), they still do it. When there are millions of people playing the game, I dont' think it's "something wrong with the game".

    Exactly.

Here's an idea OP. How about not contributing to the problem in the first place rather than complaining about it just because you got caught.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

I think it's a shame your IP can't be pulled from this post and put on a universal ban for all MMO's in existence.  Don't warn us, you decided to do one of the saddest things I can think of...we don't.  You cheated in a freaking game, as an adult, and got caught...the levels of how sad that is are astounding.  You are complaining.  You're complaining and whining and should be banned from this forum as a confessed cheater.

The only thing more pitiful than someone playing a game for 50 hours a week, is someone who pays someone else to play a game 50 hours a week on their behalf in real world money.

LOL, yeah right, banned from a site that accepts money from gold selling firms.  Like that's ever going to happen here.  As to universal IP bans, first game companies would have to be truly against it. They're really not, no matter what you might believe.

I don't see any reason to be negative towards the OP.

Its funny how almost every person you meet in an MMO or on a forum doesn't buy gold.  Yet these companies exist and make sales in such mass quantities.. that obviously people who say they don't but it... do.

That's not directed at anyone in this thread.  I'm just stating what most of us should know.

Back in 1998-2000'ish I used to sell  lot of items from UO on ebay.  The company didn't have a ban on doing so in fact it was encouraged and they added the official account transfer service.. so they could make a buck off it too.  Well 25 bucks or something like that..

Anyway at the time I never thought much about it.  When Co-Op server for DAoC opened it was around xmas time.  I was selling gold there on ebay.

But when I look back at it.. I really wish it had never been possible to buy/sell.

Why?  When it as a few people who did it in their spare time nobody noticed and it really didn't affect games.  When it became this big commercial thing... Not only did it affect gameplay, it became very annoying.

Endless spam and the farm groups that well.. anyway.

Oh and the person that mentioned the universal ban thing..

Ya I actually thought it would be nice if all the development companies would create some kind of alliance.  Anyone who was banned for exploiting, 3rd party program use etc.. would gain a perma ban from every MMO.  I know it would be hard to enforce because there are so many ways around it...

But it would be a nice message to a certain segment of gamers.

Oh and back to the gold buying/selling.

I suppose if the model really does move over to micro transactions.. you won't have to worry about it.  Because technicly all the development studio's will became the "farmers" in an odd sense of the word.  We already know that SOE thinks this is the way of the furture.

It's called "rationalization". It's something cheats and liars do all the time.
