Hey everyone,
Today i went through some old screenshots of Auto Assault and again reminded myself that the game is no more. It's not that i liked it very much but it had a certain flair... it was different. Anyway, a thought struck me that i really didn't know of that many MMO's that had been cancelled so i was hoping you guys could help me out.
I'm looking for MMO's that had actually been in production and not "planned" ones like Ultima Online 2 or Seed that never officially launched.
So here i go... Auto Assault (NC Soft, Launched Apr 13, 2006 - Aug 31, 2007)

Well I do know for a fact that Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is in decline, or has been totally shut down. That game HAD potential if they only worked on the bugs before they hastily released it in the public.
Asherons Call2, a former Microsoft/Turbine game, was shutdown 2 years ago

Marvel Heros, Star Trek Online and True Fantasy Live Online are some MMO's that (best to my knowledge) were actually in production that have since been cancelled. And if you search my older posts you will see my griping and moaning about True Fantasy Live Online being cancelled. Think of that game being like an online version of Dragon Quest VIII.
I still have hope the Marvel and Star Trek MMOs will still be able to see the light of day some time in the future.
I know there must be more cancelled games out there.
Yea I still cry at night over the loss of TFLO
O but yea also
Wish online, was only mear days away from being released and they pulled the plug, it was very well covered here on MMORPG.com up until that point, and alot of people liked it,

"Cancled MMO games ".
Don't worrie though there is still enough of them to fall over each other before hitting the sidewalk .
Nope. The game is doing just fine, and improving with each update. You can take this one off the cancelled list.

has a long list of cancelled mmos -- if you look at bottom of the list

EARTH AND BEYOND damn do i miss this game
playing eq2 and two worlds
Gods and Heroes was also canceled; because of that cancellation it probably caused STO to be canceled also.
Face of Mankind
SEED
2 games i loved, and had a world of potential, but failed. cause the community was quite lacking.
Digg a little deeper..........
Dragon Empires
Ultima Odyssy
2 other game sthat had been cancelled.
Mourning. Though I doubt anyone misses this game due to a terrible community manager, but it would have been the first MMO to introduce true permadeath (and it was skill based sandbox pvp game).
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
they rebuilding FoM from what i seen. should check there website.

That list is still in production though so not yet totally acurate.

I'm not sure if Marvel Universe Online got past the planning stages or not, but it has been recently (officially) cancelled.
we'll see the marvel mmo in spiritual form, apparently Cryptic just announced Champions online, a new super hero based MMO. My guess is that all the work on the Marvel MMO was far along enough to continue, just de-Marvelized. I think its interesting to note that SOE's DC MMO will be the only licensed comic book MMO on the market once/if it releases.
I had no idea that there were that many MMO's out there which had been cancelled, let alone existed in the first place! Makes you wonder why some of them make it and while others do not. It must be really hard to break through into the MMO-market these days...
Trials of Ascension ( http://www.shadowpool.com/ ) was cancelled last year. Officially production is suspended due to lack of investors but I don't think it will ever be finished.
This game was being developed as the ultimate immersive sandbox with permadeath, unlimited PVP, awesome systems for outlaws, tradeskilling, player owned cities and so big it would be next to impossible to see every corner of it. The planned immersiveness was virtually unlimited. You could even lose limbs and progressing your further game-life with for example 1 arm.
If they would finish it it would have been the most complete game ever. Too bad these kind of games are just for a niche market which makes financing development next to impossible.
