EBGames & Gamespot say releasedate: 02/07/2005

in Guild Wars

Urhm... Both GameSpot and EB Games have changed their releasedates for Guild Wars... Both of them have set it to 02/07/2005. Should we be getting worried now? image

I was so looking forward to a release this year, so I hope it isn't true. Can anyone please confirm this? image

    D'oh its too long , nobody will wait for the game during 1 year .
    Online store are not good for release date . But this date can be real because arena and ncsoft haven't release a date for the beta ...

    Well it's not one year. It's like another 7 months. 7th of Februari 2005 (and thank God not the 2nd of July).

    I don't care when this game comes out , i will buy it when it comes out cuz its simply the best game and there is no point in not buying it when it comes out. If i get something like WoW before GW then maybe its better that Gw gets pushed back cuz then i have some time to play WoW cuz i know that when i get GW i will spend 3/4 of my spare time playing GW and 1/4 playing WoW.

    thats true. NCS doesnt want to kill cash-makers L2 and CoH.

    GuildWars was moved on Q1 2005

    In truth that release date sounds a much more realistic then what some of the websites said earlier. The entire time I've been in the Alpha I doubted some of the guesses many websites had (lke Sept 2004). Knowing ArenaNets attention to detail, I'm positive that they wouldn't want to release it until they think it is in the best condition possible. On top of that, they are still adding new regions and abilities all the time and it looks like they aren't going to let up anytime soon. (which is a good thing) Considering how much activity that is still going on in the Alpha a 2005 release dates makes a lot more sense.

    According to NCSoft the release has been moved to 'the first half of 2005'. With my luck it'll release at the begining of June, just in time for the flood of teenagers with nothing else to do besides irritate me with their illegible typing.

    "Last but certainly not least, NCsoft’s report today came with a bit of bad news, as it seems both Tabula Rasa and Guild Wars have been delayed. According to the earning reports, Guild Wars has been pushed from Q4 2004 to the first-half of 2005. Meanwhile, Tabula Rasa has fallen back from Q4 2004 to the second-half of 2005. Read more on NCsoft’s earnings on its website."

    GuildWars hasn't been "officially" delayed yet. Gaile just posted on one of the fansite forums (there is a link to it here too) saying that their official release date of End of 2004 only "might" change. The bigwigs at NCSoft don't actually have alot of dialogue with the development team. ;)

    As far as store release dates.. don't believe 'em. All the other release dates websites or distributers post are merely speculation. Get your info from the source, www.guildwars.com . :)

    The websites can never confirm this until Arena.net itself releases the date.

    I know that the majority of the websites will guess when the release date is.  It's, most of the time, not accurate.

    I know that games such as SWG, everyone were trying to hypothesis (sp) their release date, everyone was wrong, even Sony.  They changed the release date at least once.

    So, it's not accurate until Arena.net releases the date.

    The report that has been quoted in this thread was from NCsoft, the parent company for ArenaNet. It's the financial report, as you know, one that touches on a lot of things including taking a look at the company's upcoming titles. To be honest, I'm not sure where the comment on possible release date changes came from. At this point, and with all due respect, I think we'd probably have the best feel for the release date for Guild Wars. And you know what? Even the dev team doesn't have a release date set. There are some things coming up that will help us hone in more closely on a date, but no one -- no one -- knows the date yet, not a one of us!

    Might the window that was published in this week's financial report be accurate? Well, I guess it could be. Might Guild Wars release in the 2nd Half of this year? Yes, it might release then, too. It's sort of a big question mark right now.

    You guys have shown our team a tremendous amount of support, and we're really grateful for that. You're eager to play; we're eager to release. As many of you are saying here, the thing that matters with Guild Wars is getting it right. And it's great that you all realize that getting it right is pretty much a given.

    Man i cant wait for this game to come out and if they need to delay it to make it better thats fine with me.  As long as the delay is to ferther inprove this awsome game.

    On guild wars Official home page's FAQ they say this about release date!!




    What is the expected release date?

    There has been no change in the release window, and we anticipate that Guild Wars will be released in the second half of 2004::31

    I love this country, alot people cant wait for anything..... If someone gave me the option of having a game come out quicker that wasnt as good and had to wait for patches and updates to reach its full potential, or wait a few months longer and have the game complete.... i ladies and gents choose the second option.

    just like swg, which i was looking forward to and now i been hearing very bad stuff about swg

    hope that, guild wars won't follow that path

    When will Guild Wars be released? UPDATED!

    The beta begins in October. We will take as much time as necessary to balance and polish the game based on feedback received during the beta period, and anticipate that we will release Guild Wars by early 2005.

    ETA: 2/1/2005
