Of course they stole my XP. If instead of killing 1000 mobs, now a new player has to kill 800, they stole the XP for 200 mobs.
When I bought the game, it was $50 bucks. Now I can get it for $9.99. OMG, they stole from me. They owe me $40 bucks.
See how rediculous that sounds? You probably don't.
I see your point, but I disagree.
Money is just that, money.
Achievements have an emotional link. If you make it easy for everyone and don't return me my stuff in a way or another, then you just steal from me.
Someone thinking like you would prolly think that selling your account for $1200 would be a good deal. Me, I would NEVER accept to sell my characters, they are MINES! Now, if the game want to have players who are happy selling their characters over players who cheerish their characters, this is their choice I guess, but I will cry.

Lemme get this straight... You're leaving City of Heroes over a positive change for everyone, because of an internet personnality test? Did you try the compatibility one with your girlfriend's name and cell number? I hear it's very reliable.
You don't need to be mean with me. At least, I speak my mind when something seriously annoy me, instead of just leaving quietly and never checking back. I try to help find a solution, for this game or a future game.

I think smoothing out the leveling curve is a great idea, especially if there are players who ran into these walls and quit over them.
I disagree that it some sort of big negative for those who got past them on their own in the past. Sort of like an older sibling complaining that they had to work very hard to break down their parents rules about going to bed at 9:00, only to see their younger siblings getting to stay up until 11 w/o even a fuss.
More players returning can only help everyone. Even for vets, they re-roll lots of alts, so it will benefit them as well.
Heck, its a mostly PVE game with little to hold people once they reach the top, at least let them enjoy the journey.

Anofalye, you say they shouldn't have done this because it will scare the veteran players away, and yet most of the CoH players I know crawled through their 20's with a bunch of alts because they hate the grind, and many of my RL friends won't play the game because of it. Every time I made an alt, I always wondered if it would be worth it. I've dumped many toons because I hit the grind and they weren't fun to play anymore. I mean come on, it took me a few days to get to 20, and then it felt like I spent days earning each level after that. That's not a steady progression, and I do have other things I do and games I play.
Keep the vets, retain new players. To do that, the game needs a nice grab to begin with and a slow pull to hold them. You didn't have anything taken from you. You can make alts and take advantage of the quicker speed yourself.
Now if you want to talk about additions that piss me off, the $10 wedding pack is it. I'm not paying a sub AND microtransactions. If this becomes a trend, I'm out.
Of course they stole my XP. If instead of killing 1000 mobs, now a new player has to kill 800, they stole the XP for 200 mobs.
You were content to lvl up under the old system and you got every bit of XP you were entitled to. No one took anything from you. What about all the influence, enhancements and other commodities you earned along with that XP you got for those extra kills? Are you going to give that all back? What about all the time you got to spend at max lvl before this new system came about and anyone else had a chance to lvl up under it? How are you going to give back all that time you stole?
Let's say for arguments sake you hit max lvl 1 year ago. You got to spend an entire year at that lvl earning more influence and building more wealth than everyone else that wasn't max lvl. Now they make it a little easier to hit the cap, well you got to enjoy a whole year before anyone else who's actually getting to lvl under the new system. That's the trade off. People hit lvl cap under the new system aren't going to amass as much wealth along the way because it doesn't take as many kills to get there.
You got there first and got to enjoy it first. Where's all the time, influence, enchancement and other drops that you stole by taking longer to lvl? Makes about as much sense as your argument. You're not entitled to anything. I'd tell you to go lvl an alt and enjoy the new system for yourself, but you're not even playing anymore apparently, making your argument even more pointless.
here you go again, I thought you quit playing COV..lol
anyway no game is ever going to give retroactive xp to compensate for changes to the curve, its not gonna happen.. deal with it. These devs do a pretty good job, compared to some of the other games I have played. you say they dont understand how an achiver thinks, I look at your recent post about COV and think you just want an I win button and want everything delivered to you on a silver platter. They aren't gonna do that either. Concerning your statement about accolades and thier levels. Issue 11 fixed accolade level restrictions, now accolades will work at any malafactor/exempler level as long as the accolade can be earned at or before said level. example: if you cant possibly earn the accolade before level 30, and waited until level 50 to earn it , then you wont have it available when mal/exemp to level 29 and below, but you will have it at all levels from 30 to 50. If the accolade can be earned at level 1 and you wait until 50 to get it, it will still be available at any level you mal/exemp to. hope that makes sense
Because I stop playing, doesn't mean I stop checking.
I would like unlimited levels, but I know I will not even get a level cap increase.
Well, you really should consider retro-active XP, the player already EARNS that xp. If it is no more on the character, give it back on another character is a minimum. STEALING my xp isn't going to make me friendly toward thiefs. They are THIEFS, they stole my XP! Give it back, on my other toons or new levels or whatever, but I want it back!
Always saying I am this or that. I am an achiever! You made no sense. Attacking peoples doesn't make you right, it prove my point. CoX is extremely thin on achievers-stock, they have very few. And check how the few who are there are rewarded? Kicking me or that, I would pick the kick and be done with it.
I earn my accolade at level 10-30 (except for a few), maybe I should get a little something if you give it for free to everyone else who achieve it at 50? I EARNS it by 30, I deserve something for that! I want to scream right now. It was a LOT harder to get it at low level, and now, again, I am just shafted. That is wrong. Every player which earn accolades at low levels which I talk about this where kinda agreeing with me, maybe they are nicer than me and just smiling impotently, but I scream when someone is hurting me. Their most common answer was: "Don't tell me about it " Sure, you make the game nicer for casuals, fine, but don't shaft peoples who earn it the hard way without any consideration. At the very least, I would deserve to be given that accolade on a lowbie to compensate my lost efforts. But no, let just shaft the hard-working players... I was 1 of the few player who can use Demonic while earning his shivans...now, I lost that edge, gankers expect me to use it, I can't suprised them with that, and I get NOTHING to compensate my lost. Absolutely nothing. Move the shivans out of a PvP zone then, and every other temporary power. )(*?%(
Wow!!! lolz As a player of cox for 3 yrs I am so happy that you do not play cox anymore Keep up the good work dev's I look forward to the upcoming FREE PATCH'S.
With any MMO you have to do things to keep the current Vet players happy and do other things to get the newbie players coming in.
The vet rewards from before were to keep the existing players happy.
XP Smoothing helps out the newbie players.
Pretty much clear cut simple as that. At least to me it is. As one of the Vet players, the smoothing didn't really benefit me. I did make a dual blade stalker for the heck of it to see how "smooth" the xp is now. Noticeably faster that's for sure.
Reading the "friendliness" of some answer make me happy I quit.
See, when I see a fellow human dishearted because he lost something, I am compassionate. As I said, I have nothing against the smoothing, I have everything against the fact I wasn't "refunded" my XP. I earn it, I deserve to keep it.
Reading some "smart answers" only confirm that I will be happier FAR from you. Rewarding and achievement are the main reason there are levels. Remove that if you want, completely, make everyone level 50 right away and see how long the game remains. The human nature of some of you is...dis-hearting. You are actually happy to see that I LOST what I earn? See, if they make it twice easier for someone to level up, the least they could do is give me the amount of XP I lost with this new change. Removing never improve. Let's say they would have given me back the XP I already earn, I would have explode soo many characters that are stuck and that I don't level up anyway, what would it has changed for you? Nothing. For me, I would feel I am not shafted and what I earn is still mine. Gah, some of you are really rude.

You didn't lose anything.
Each level cost the same amount of xp as it did before, only the rate at which it is earned has changed. so no one is paying less for a level than you did.......nevermind, forget it. There is no point in trying to explain anything to you, because you dont get it and never will.
Go play another game and bother them with your nonscence..because obviously no one around here agrees with you

Lol, you're too funny man. How you feel you're entitled to anything is beyond me. You were aware of the system and agreed to put down your money every single month to play under that system. You got everything thing you deserved.
Let's say you start a job as a janitor for $10 per hour. After 2 years of happily working as a janitor, you quit. A few months later you learn that the company you left is now paying their janitors $12 an hour. Do you go back to them complaining that they stole $2 an hour from you the entire time you were working there? What do you think they're going to say, especially since you no longer work for them?
I don't feel cheated or anything with the xp smoothing. Doesn't benefit me much, but doesn't hurt me either. On the other hand when vet rewards came out and I had my nifty base teleporter, ghost slaying axe, nemesis staff, etc I didn't hear people complaining about how that was unfair. Well cept for the part about wings, til they found out there were wing recipes ingame.
EQ1 used to have "hell levels" where the xp needed to level virtually tripled, but just for that level. They later removed them, after I had long since passed them up. Despite the fact I had to "grind" my way through these xp speed bumps, it would of been absurd to demand "lost" xp that I never really lost.
So I don't understand why a previous poster seems upset over xp smoothing. Still takes the same amount of xp to level, just mobs earn more xp/inf now is all. Seems he (or she) is complaining for the sole reason of complaining.
