Screwd by SOE

LacertaLacerta Member Posts: 40

SOE has just posted "International Availability and Server Information" on their forum.
It has been decided that european players won't be alowed to play on US servers. I usualy newer get mad, but now I'm filled with rage. It's not only about me. Thousands of european players have joined US guilds. They must all feel screwd by SOE.

they are not forcing you to play on the European servers... Just by the US version of the game.

But ya i think its kinda stupid how they are doing it.
I love playing with Europeans than with Americans some times

This is probably being done to reduce transfer times and compatability issues. Also since this games engine in itself will be so intensive upon the systems running it, it is probably a good thing they are doing this.

    IM happy about it.

Id rather North America people play together and the Europeans play together. Besides why would anyone bitch about it? If you have a guild that is in America then buy the American version. If your an american and your guild is in Europe. Buy the european version.

There are like a dozen morons on the eq2 boards ranting about how its a bad idea. They need to stfu and be happy they are playing eq2 in the first place. What is the big deal?

    Moron drama quenns.

Am I understanding this right.....if I bought a US version of the game and sent it to my UK sis, she would be able to play on one of the servers on the East Coast of US with us? Please tell me that is correct.

NO the best part of MMO's are playing with other people.

ALso playing with other people who dont call me mate. And also playing with other people who dont call cigarrettes fags. Or dont hold the same moral beleifs as I. Or dont beleive in the ocuntry I live in.

Or its good playing with people who you can tell to run over that hill and wait for me and dont go ???? huh.

Or its good in PvP environonments.

    Its good when roleplaying.

There are countless reasons why splitting the servers is good.

Mostly I would say its a company decision either in their agreement with ubisoft and prolly has nothing to do with any of "my" reasons.

I think having European and american Guilds and players on the same server was the best in EQ.  Both played during different times of the day and maximized the usage of the server.  Best of all, as an american, I played for a European Guild because they played Day Time my Time when usually no American guild was on.  Everybody, no matter what country they are from play all hours of the day and night.  It is nice knowing the you can get on a game and there will be people playing on the server when you do.  I think this is a big mistake by SOE for doing this.

Most of the poeple I see complaining though are European. Its like they are depraved without playing with the North Americans.

Some even go as far on the eq2 boards to make a post initially saying they are european and that theyd otn like the idea. Then 5 posts later all of a sudden they are lying through their teeth that they are Americans and they demand for Europeans to be bale to play on North America servers.

I dont get it really. WHats the beef? Buy the US or european version depending on where you want to play. WHy the argument to complain?

There are two seperate publishers for USA and Europe.

If this is anything like Lineage2 which I have a feeling it is going to be, they will actually block IP's from Europe. So owning the US version of the game won't do a bit of good. Of course you could always just go through a SOCKS server to mask your IP, but it's kind of a pain.

I would look for more clairification before I bought a copy of the game and shipped it over there.

I think this a big mistake by SOE. Having seperate servers for US and asian players is fine(to keep down botters/farmers), but there isn't a problem with european players(especially brits). SOE said it was going to be international first, then changed it's mind(people have preordered already). I doubt that they will block IPs, L2 sucks-they did the europeans a favor by blocking them.

By the way, I'm a american.

I think SOE has to choose the lesser of the evils. either let everyone play together(continents), or make every version only work for one continents servers. I really would rather not play with the asian crowd just because i dont like how many of them look at the game, farmers and botters should play with other farmers and botters not me. I wish there was a way i could play with my brit and norwegian firneds but there isnt unless i drop my american ones. And its worth it for me.

Wait wait im confused.... Are they gonna block IPs or are they only gonna allow US copies of the game to play on the US servers? If they are gonna only do it by the "Copy" of the game its not gonna make one big diff cuz everyone who wants to play on the US server will just buy the US copy.

I say they should just ban IPs. I for one think its a good idea to seperate the servers by country. I mean thats the whole point of having different servers in different countries... they are for THOSE countries.

    You are wrong!!!!

Why do most people like mmorpgs? because they can play with many people from different countries. Its great to meet foreign people, not just american. Hell, if i want to play with american, then chat is the option. Why the fck will EQ2 be an international game? to gain more profit, why doesnt SOE think bout community? Nah, they are just happy with the money. They care a sht bout community, you can see it with their Customer Service.

You just wrote a stupid post.

    Is SOE retarded or what?

  • NoisyMonkeyNoisyMonkey Member Posts: 220
I myself have played one or two mmorpgs that did this, as far as I know buying the us version isn't enough, you still would be on european servers, you need yourself a american friends credit card if you want in american servers. Besides, if the server is in the us then you guys will lag, which will then lag the server if its really crappy, or heavily loaded. image

While i will miss my NA friends from the original(clearly not morons like ritual or whatever his name is) i have accepted that this is the way the mmorpg are taking.Be it for lag reasons or money wise.

So whatever they do is fine with me.After all europeans servers have proven to be fun and filled.Look at planetside and DAoC european servers.

US Version connects to US servers, EU version to EU servers. No IP - blocking whatsoever.

Heh I feel bad for those in Oz... they get stuck with the Asians often.     Not that I have anything agaisnt asians, its just that there is a bigger culture difference between the two.

Personally I wish they had everyone together... its nice for people that play real late or real early   to have people to group with, since its prime time in their part of the world.

I'd be against any game 'ip-banning' countries from joining specific servers.  Most of us have been playing games for a while, moving guilds from game to game.  Currently my guild has players from US, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, England, France, Kuwait, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand that I know of right off hand.

Personally, I'd hate seeing that split up.

Second reason, as stated:  some US players do play in off hours.  I worked overnights living in the US - playing between 8 am and noon.  Most of the people I played with were Euro, and I would have been quite lonely without those folks in game.

    Localised server:

    3:00am: no one playing

    6:00am: no one playing

    9:00am some people playing

    12:00am some people playing

    3:00pm some people playing

    6:00pm alot of people playing

    9:00pm alot of people playing

    12:00pm some people playing

    International server:

ALL HOURS: some but usualy alot of people playing

What about the 100s of thousands of people that have gained friends and guilds over the years because of MMOG's? Is it time for them to all say goodbye to one another?

Your answer: If your guild is in US then buy a US version. Same for friends. Who knows where a guild is actualy located? Most guilds arnt physicaly located anywhere, guilds are its members, not a company.

You also state "just buy a US version if you live somewhere else". Sure, would you like to pay increased post and package and import tax charges of like $20-40 ontop of the game price itself?

    Im wrong? Thats your opinion.

I didnt rebuttall anyone's opionion here dont direct your comments to me. We are all entitled to our opinion.

Goto school. And well its my opinion that I would rather play with Americans then foreign people. Am I right or wrong? WHo knows. OPinions are opinions. To me foreign people break the immersiveness of the game.

    sparktab,

well first then have your friends move to america.

besides foreign countries have different morals then the United States. You deciding you want foreigners to play on AMerican servers is treason if you ask me. If they aint with me they are against me I say.

I dont beleive in too many countries outside of the United States. Thats just my opinion. Sure some of them arent in civil war or starving for food but alot of them have wacked out laws and an even more wacked out history.

So come again? I bet your foreign. Or recently immigrated here in the US.

Do you see americans bitch and moan when other countries host game servers we cant join? No we suck it up and usually never hear of the game in the first place. Foreigners should just be grateful that we can play eq2 in the first palce (America included). And im sure Europe will have enough people to fill up a few servers anyways.

THis foreign people remind me of a baby without its milk. THey cry and cry until you stick the bottle in their mouth. Play on your servers. Live with it I say.

*shrug* I know my gameplay will be alot better without all foreigners.
