how accurate are rs current player stats?

is the message on home page
when u go to login the servers say
adam.com.au/savagegoose/dead.gif
ie all servers are down.
well actually im just killing time till theyre back up, but usually it says 200k+

When was the last time you've played? The last time there were 200k+ people on was before the update...Ever since then, they may get like 202k or so, but thats it, and only on weekends too.

I have wondered that before .. I thought it was just a glitch. Once when all servers were down it said there was over 100k people playing .. I dunno if their player stats are accurate or not.. makes you wonder if they fluff it to make it seem busier than it is.
yeah earlkier i looked there servers are up and like 500 on ea server, stat said
