Blizzard and Upper Deck have announced that they will be unleashing a World of Warcraft Miniatures Game in the fall of 2008.
Following the huge success of the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, Upper Deck Entertainment plans to release a World of Warcraft Miniatures Game, which will be available in hobby and retail outlets in Fall 2008. Now you'll be able to act out your favorite World of Warcraft moments with highly detailed 3D renderings of all the classes, including iconic characters like Warchief Thrall and fan-favorite Leeroy Jenkins!
The World of Warcraft Miniatures Game will be UDE's debut in the collectible miniatures market, bringing in some of the industry's most talented sculptors from all over the world, including Jacques-Alexandre Gillois (France), Juan Navarro Perez (Spain), Stefan B. Niehues (Germany), and Steve Saunders (USA). Paint schemes were designed by Studio McVey. "The quality level of this product is unprecedented in the collectible miniatures category," said 20-year-veteran miniatures painter Mike McVey. "This is a product I am happy to put my name behind."

lol, they're trying to rip off warhammer more?
I can't see this possibly being successful. I'm not a warhammer fanboy either. I just don't see how they can hope to compete with GW in the tabletop market.
What little respect I ever had for Blizzard is now gone. They could at least try to be creative for once instead of duplicating every other franchise out there. I sincerely hope this project fails spectacularly.

- Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
How appropriate for the WoW communities, mental miniatures....
You guys do realise that Blizzard is a business out to make money just like Gamesworkshop and Mythic, if blizzard did not believe that people would want these figures they would not of given the licence to the company to make them.. they are forfilling a demand to their customers.
Plus GW did not invent to TT games, I have a box of lead toy indians and cowboys left to my from my granddad they are atleast 70 years old.
first up coffee, we cant hear ya you are all muffled, take your lips off blizzards ass before you start speaking.
did anybody else honestly NOT see this coming? WoW needs to keep as many people away from WAR as possible even if that means ripping off WAR as much as possible
First post, eh? If you're going to flame someone, at least have the kahoonies to do it from your real account. How credible...
Coffee is right. WAR is probably going to be WoW's biggest competition, so why not pull out all the stops? Besides, if just 10% of WoW's customers are interested in a tabletop game, they'll make a ton of money on the deal, and that's good for the company.
Have you ever wondered why there's a Wendys next to nearly every McDonalds? Welcome to a competitive market. No different here.
Perfect example of how the MMORPG.com community is sucking hard lately.
Aye, its content like this that really puts me off reading threads on these boards sometimes, I could do without opening a topic looking for a decent discussion to find absurdities like this cropping up.
You sir, need to gather some maturity before posting again.
As for the topic in question, I think the miniatures are quality looking and there is obviously a market for all warcraft memorabilia considering the card game seems to have taken off. I personally would love to have some warcraft figures on my window ledge or desk
Ugh.. it's as if a million gamesworkshoppers cried out, and were suddenly silenced. My Blizzard indifference has now changed into good ole hate.
ha, all the wOw h8rs should go to a Gaming Convention like Gencon and see JUST HOW MANY people play miniatures. Everything from Napoleonic to Fantasy to Ancients, amazingly detailed dioramas are set up on huge tables and battles rage all day long. Big Fun! More miniatures!!!

Well, it's mainly UDE that is developing this game. They just got the license from Blizzard. Just like their CCG.
It's the reverse of Games Workshop. They started with the minis and licensed their product to Mythic to make a game. Blizzard started with the game and licensed their product to UDE to make a card and minis game.
Strange, reading about WoW and all the immature coments are coming from anti WoW crowd. Oh wait, nothing strange there.
As for the toy soldiers, meh.
