OK, I am a coleader in a clan on the Vespanola Server Called Pirate. The game has just had a big undate/Expantion. WE are needing veteran players to come in and help us teach the kiddoes how to really play PvP. The Game is very different from what most vet players have faced in an MMo. There is a good bit of grind to get to end game play. But the Reward is so great if you live and die PvP Like I do.

Leveling in this game can be a bit of a grind, but there have been players, that have made Veteran/LVL100+ in about 3 to 4 weeks. They are the real hard core players.   Do not think this is easy. It makes LVLing in WoW look Like a cake Walk. Beleive me, I know.

Also, The political System is Fabulous. But, that is the main reason, I am recruiting here. On our Server, there are just 3 Main Clans that control everything. Riad Bosses,Colonies, The taxes from the market. This is what we want to end. So, Roll up you Sleves and come in to get bloody with us.

The games full name is quite long Sword of the New world. Yes it is a Korean MMo. But you control 3 toons at one time, making it a unique experience. There is no WASD movment All Click and go. Which is the only real way that you could control 3 Toons at once. it takes about 3 to 4 hours of getting used to, but once you do, Look out cause your hooked.  Also the PvP is really hard to get into if you are not a Vet player, Imagine haveing to learn up to 100 different keystrokes depending on you team setup.

Faction and Colony wars has started, you get unimaginal buffs with each colony your clan controls. Plus bragging rights about how many families (players) you killed in the process. Here are a few Pics I have taken of the game so far.

The 1st pic is from when we were at war with another clan. Killed about 30 families/90 toons. And there were only 5 of us.

Here is a Link to our Clan Web site. www.guildcafe.com/GuildHome.php

We need mature, And very devious players that would like to help Take over the server. We have room for 50 families in our clan ATM.

Also, here is a link to the SotNW forums, to learn alot more if you would like to.forum.swordofthenewworld.com/index.php

Come and learn what PvP is all about, not the Slow light stuff in the other MMo's. Dont Flame if you do not like it, Just give it a try until LVl 50 is all I ask.

My in game Name is Zhahadoom. PM me for invite, Also, Befor you start you really need to DL the Keyboard map, It is a total revamp from what you would be used to.

Here is the Info you will need to join us. Vespanola Server.

Clan:  Pirate

Leader: Mirrorshade

Co Leaders: PwnStarz,  Vonschilde,  Zhahadoom

To PM in game use a " NAME and then message.

ATM we are at 90+ players in our clan, but alot are inactive, so we will make room for those who wish to dominate the server.

No offense, but if you're gonna play that game, you should play Granado Espada (http://ge.iahgames.com/en).  The recent update  for Sword of the New World (SotNW) has made them exactly like every other version out there, but they are still slightly behind in updating the game. Also their cash shop prices are higher than Granado Espada's if you like spending cash in F2P games.  And K2 hasn't been the best support team for SotNW.

Just my take on the situation since I came back to see what it's like.  But good luck to you in there Zhahadoom, you're gonna need it since both games are plagued by massive amounts of bots.

Gotta agree with the above poster. K2 doesnt give a rats ass about its customers and thats been painfully obvious since around August. Neume promised bots would get better just wait. Then it was just wait for the next patch. Now... well honestly dont know what spin he is using.

K2 is worthless, play it in singapore if you must play it.

Challenge? The only challenge I had while playing SotNW was trying to keep from nodding off while my 3 toons merrily killed everything on their own. This game is absolutely most boring grindfest ever conceived. At least the other Asian grinders have you actually mashing a few skills while you grind to give you something to do. This game must have been developed by Chinese gold farmers as it's a botter's dream game. SotNW challenging? Not in this lifetime.

Since when is playing any RMT supported game a challenge?  He who buys more from the item shop wins.

Gotta agree with both of them. If you're going to play, play Granado Espada. I played GE during beta. Interesting, liked the style,  but the game pretty much consisted of forming a party, parking it somewhere, and letting it kill everything in a circle until the stuff there no longer gave decent XP, and moving on to the next area. Granted, I've been told it requires actual attention once you get much higher, but I didn't really have the patience for it. I did like the family/character system it had though, especially the idea of letting you earn NPCs to add to your family.

There really is no reason to put this thread in the general section, as you're sure to get a few ignorant replies. Such as bren's replies. If your characters are killing everything at their own, then you're doing something wrong. level up by you know, actually playing and you'll level much, much faster. AFK leveling in Sword is like playing any other mmo's without using skils.

Samurai, when are you going to educate yourself about item shops before you start posting? As usuall you're way off. It's not "he who buys the most things wins". You would have known that if you actually checked out the actual item shop before you post  your misinformed information here. First you created the Aion topic and other people had to correct you. Then you found out that TCOS had a lot of instancing and thus you removed your visual advertisement you have had for months. Now you post something that is incorrect again.

One would think you would get the clue by now: Do your research before making statements.

I hope you really don't believe your assertion that item shop games don't offer in game advantages. At least reading all my posts should provide you with some much neglected wisdom.

Obviously for a RMT revenue system game to be succcessful, there needs to be demand for what is being sold. There wouldn't be much demand for 100% fluff items, and therefore the RMT revenue system would fail and the game would fold.

Take a look at Aeria games item shops for the standard fare of items for sale in these types of games. Experience earning increase items, stat increase items, travel ease items, items that increase carry ability and storage ability etc. all offer in game advantages. Now games that only sell 100% fluff items, that have no direct advantage in game, still can be traded in game for coin/items that do offer an advantage which provides the same result.

Take EvE Online for example, which is a RMT supported game now. CCP facilitates the ability to buy and trade EvE time game cards in game for in game coin. This is the same thing as a player buying isk(gold) with an intermediary step involved. The game card itself may not offer a direct in game advantage, but it can be traded for isk(gold) in game, which clearly is an advantage.

So there you have it, the explanation of how buying 100% fluff items can be translated into buying an advantage. You didn't really think you would be able to pull the wool over everyone's eyes, did you?

Now as far as trying to discredit what I say with other forum examples, let's begin:

The Aion topic was about too much instancing, which is going to boil down to personal perception so nothing can be corrected or proven. I am still waiting for the Aion representative to answer my question about the comparison of Aion's proposed amount of instancing vesus City of X's, so I can visualize the difference since I am familiar with how much City of X has in terms of instancing, which is too much for me.

Yes I removed my signature for Spellborn, because it appears I  was misled about the amount of instancing there will be. I do not have beta key access and have relied on information provided to me by the Spellborn staff about their game, including previous statements that instancing will be limited. The recent interview on MMORPG.com where a Spellborn developer said there would be "lots of instancing", conflicts with the previous statement given me of limited instancing. Am I foolish for believing a game developer without having tested the game myself  firsthand? Apparently, so if you want to beat me up about it, go ahead. I won't make the same mistake in the future. I am still waiting for the Spellborn devs to explain the contradiction but they seem to be hiding under their desks.

I actually pay very little attention to what you say on this forum. I read your posts but it's rare that I let my opinion influence by anything you say.

Lets start with your item shop arguement. I did not say that a person who pays for items does not have an advantage over someone who does not pay for any item shops, which makes sense as that person is basicly playing for free. However your arguement was that "The person who pays more will win", and this is incorrect. You can only apply one XP booster and one buff at a time. They don't stack, so you can't keep throwing items at your character. In other words, a person with 10 buff potions does not have any advantage over someone with 1 buff potion. Also, these items often can't be traded in item shop MMO's. Since we're talking about Sword of the New World, you'll find that these items don't give a huge advantage at all and they can't be stacked. Like most mmo's, Sword of the New World is about how much time you have invested and how much luck you have with finding items, not your wallet. Your wallet gives you a boost, but it does not determine your success.

Your Aion arguement only helps my arguement that you base your opinion on your own assumptions as opposed to actual facts. This is the thread you made, no out of context here:

Thread name: The biggest problem with NC soft MMOGS

    message:

    Too much instancing.

I don't play MMOGs to be in a private world.

Which is clearly implying that Aion would be heavily instanced as you did not ask a question, you made a statement. And yet here you claim you don't even know how much of Aion will be instanced and that you're waiting for an answer.

About spellborn, taking your habbit of jumping to conclussions without actually looking things up, I find it hard to believe that spellborn developers would have made such a huge contradiction.

As far as the bots are conserned they have been almost completely wiped out. I AM vet, and let me tell you, You can AFK LVL but you earn 5 times the EXP when you Active lvlin this game. Oh, and by the way, I that it is a better challenge at the end game, even little kids can play at the lower lvls, but it takes someone with great Skill to stay alive at end game. It seems, that we have some Korean MMO haters here, you are entitled to your own opinion, But I know the truth, cause lets face it, I play the Game, and you do not. Try to even play it for a little while now,  You will be a little shocked at how wrong all you are about Sword. Just give it a try, Remember, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. If you guys do not get out of your comfort Zone, then I can see that you really are just chicken of getting waxed in a game you cannot handle.

Will any part of this game be instanced? It would be very refreshing to see a new game that wasn't 50%+ instanced, like Old School EverQuest.

Ancestral Quest will be instance. They have too because in those quests you play a key person in the past and live the exprience so things like that have the be instance everything else will not be.

Here is one example. In the recent MMORPG.com interview, the developer now says there will be lots of instanced dungeons. Clearlly this is contradictory.

Gameloading you admit now that items bought from RMT revenue supporting games offer an advantage, but you dismiss those advantages as being insignificant. So what you are suggesting is that people would be stupid to buy those items then?

Things like that is exactly what I'm talking about. That quote is from a Volunteer Forum Moderator, not a developer or even an employee from the company.

about Item Shops, it really depends on the game. Some games offer some nice items, I recall an mmo where you could purchase a pet that would pick up your items, or extra storage space. Those are things I wouldn't mind paying for. However in Sword of the New World I found most items to be pretty pointless. In fact I received a whole bunch of gold (the special currency you use to buy item shop items) when the game switched from P2P to F2P and I never actually used the gold as I didn't find anything particular useful to spend it on. I just saved it so I could buy a veteran scroll (used to turn your lvl 99 characters to veteran status), but afaik those scrolls can also be found in the game.

Volunteers are unpaid employees and are representatives for the company/product they are volunteering for. If they say something that isn't true, it is a misrepresentation of the facts, and the company/product is responsible for correcting the error.

In fact volunteers directly working with Ultima Online have successfully sued for minimum wage pay guaranteed by Federal law, thus proving they are indeed considered employees.

    The backdrop story:

    The verdict:

    http://terranova.blogs.com/terra_nova/2004/04/uo_lawsuit_sett.html

Here is also a post from the PR MGR talking about the possible use of silent instancing as in EQ2, and specifically stating it would be something the players would not notice unless the zone became overpopulated, a soft instancing if you will, implying no use of hard instancing which would be a constant.

What is really important to understand in this system is the fact that it revolves around ZONES, and not around an entire shard or world.

This is a "silent" system. By silent I mean that you players won't notice it until the threshold of instancing is reached in one particular and specific zones. Like for example Hawksmouth and Hawk's Landing zone (which are one single zone).

If the threshold is met, a copy/instance of the zone will be created, if not, then no copy.

This is made to prevent an "interruption" of gameplay on one zone given the fact it's overpopulated. Imagine connecting to the game, and figuring out that all the mobs are being camped, thus making it impossible for you to quest or simply go on a "bear hunt party".

im not a korean MMO hater, but afk lvling = automated = your own bot = boooooring and not a challenge, even with the 5x xp at active lvling.

    MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

Bots gone eh? Thats not what the general forums say bro.

As for not playing, check out my xfire, I have 3 level 93 toons myself. K2 is just aweful, there is no denying or arguing that. Can you level actively faster? Sure can.... but you better enjoy grinding and long play sessions 8 - 12 hours + to see good progress.

I personally am not a grind game fan, but even if I was....K2 would still not get my money.

Tried the beta, the game was interesting at first where you can control 3 toons at the same time then it eventually got old as you don't do much of anything except kill stuff (grind XP) and do missions. While the missions might be moderately interesting, the bad localization simply destroyed the immersion (half the dialogues were in hangul (korean language) and half of them are bad engrish translations. I think the company needs to hire a decent localization translator and not run the dialogue text thru an automated translator. For the customization, there's very little you can customize at most you can customize what skills your avatars will use and that's about it. Very little in "looks and fashion" customization for your avatar. The world map has quite a few instancing but it does offer many shared instance dungeons and overland maps.

Conclusion: This is a decent game considering it's F2P and if you can overlook some of it's flaws.

My 10 year old nephew can write blogs of the caliber that you do so don't even try to sell yourself as someone "in the know" because you're not even close. Well, there are several Different PvP styles in the game.

When it comes to style, you cannot sit in one place a fire off AOE's if you do you will be toast. You must move around avois the AOE and curse spell areas, while trying to attack you foe. There is no FP View. But you will have the intesity of playing a FPS. There isalot I a listing so Please be Patient and read it all.

1  Attack rateing / Defense Rateing has alot to do with the game, TO put it simply, If your AR rateing is 50 and the attacking persons DR  is either 4 above or below you have a good chance of beating them. But you LVL , Weapons and Armor directly effect your AR/DR so yes it is very possible.

2  Baron Mode. This is a direct way top attack a person. If you Force attack someone, and you kill them, you get Baron Points. This makes it possible for you to drop Items in you inventory and/or equipted items. If you are baroned you will not drop anything. Also, There are alot of baron quests and cool Items in thise quests that give you Great buffs. The only thing I do not like about this is, you cannot baron until you reach LVL 64 or family LVL 6

3  Duels. you can, duel anyone at anytime without gaining Baron point. This is an Instance if you are in town, or a live fight if you are in a battle zone.

4  PvP Room hosting. This is really fun. You open a rooom, and choose for I think 3 to 4 maps, and them invite other players to join in and PvP as long as you want to. You can do teams and/or free for all.

5 Clan wars/Faction wars This is where Clans and factions come into play. Clans have LVLs as well, so to partisipate your clan  need to be LVL 50 or higher.  There are 3 different factions that a Clan can pick to be theirs. If one clan Declares war on another, that is in a rival Faction. Then all the Players of that Clan will be Auto Baron to you and you can attack, or be attacked at any time in a batlle area. Also, you do not aquire Baron points in faction wars.

6 Colony wars.  With this every clan can occupy a colony. The colonies are located on selected  Balttle maps.   To take a colony you must declare war on the ocupying clan. Then defeat them and beat the colony to a pulp. Then after the Colony had reached 0 in HP, your clan ocupies it. There are also uber buffs that go with occupying a colony.  This war only happens on Saturdays from 9pm CST to 12 AM CST.

Here are the Patch notes for the New Expantion.

    Patch Notes v2.4 Manifest Destiny

    New Areas:

    Gigante Island

Come and relax on the beautiful beaches of Gigante Island. The ferry to Gigante Island can be found in the Port of Coimbra, waiting for new vacationers to come aboard. During your stay on the Island please take advantage of the hospitality by participating in one or more of the myriad games available.

The great Rock-Paper-Scissors Champion himself – Tiburon, is challenging all comers to take his crown by beating him at his own game. And to make it interesting, he is wagering Enchantment Chips! Or perhaps you are more interested in less risky games and will try your hand at Catching Cabybaras or Crushing Watermelons.

If blood is more to your style, enter the Battle Ring in Gigante Beach. The Battle Ring allows you to see just how good you are in a fight against mighty adversaries. Better bring out your best, because other families may just be watching YOU bleed. Prizes galore await the winners of these games, so play hard and play to win.

    Bellem's Relic

Located on Fire Isle, Bellem's Relic is the name of the ruins (channel 1 only) where pioneers will find many new and haunting creatures. In order to gain entry you will need to acquire a Key of Bellem. And only within a specific time of the day will the key allow entry. Anything more specific about the ruins is still a mystery to be solved by the most courageous of pioneering families. There are rumored to be treasure chests with extremely rare items contained within, but these are tales told by the … not-quite-sane survivors.

There are alot of fun things in game now, Beta was not great, but the game has come a long way. Also, K2 is good company to deal with, Neume the game GM is always ingame, or trolling the forums answering questions and just having fun. I have always had my troubles taken care of in nominal time, without a great hassle, unlike these  P2P companies. Where it is everything you can do, just to get an answer from costomer support.
