Tasos says update next week, beta announcement next week?

Tasos says they will “likey” resume regular updates starting next week.

Will this be the beta announcement they said was coming “very soon” or will it be a disappointment?

    Crunching what?  Almonds?

    I will say that the updates will continue as they were with the same old info...  if they continue... until he f eels like not doing them again and takes a few weeks off citing "too much work"

    Goddamnit Pol, dont write Tasos, update and beta in the same sentance.....you know better that that. I almost got a heart attack.

    If I had a dime for every time someone started a rumor about Darkfall beta starting soon....

    That is SOOO true.

    This thread will quickly become the most read thread on the forums.  Honestly, I have dim hope for this game.  It is just this side of vaporware.  We haven't heard anything about this game in how long? And now they are giving us a cookie crum.  I HOPE, they make good on regular updates, I HIGHLY doubt they will.

    This is not a rumor, the developers have publicly committed themselves to a beta announcement in the next few months and launch this year when they made this statement last month.

    "Previous estimates on beta were honest educated estimates based on facts at the time. Circumstances have a way of changing, so we don't want to try to estimate again when so many things are in flux. The only thing certain is that we expect everything to come together one way or another within a few months so that our launch can be within the year. When we decide whether to go with a publisher or to self publish we will announce a beta date."

    I would love a beta in a couple of months : )

    But that first sentence worries me. "From what they know now".......that will be easy to adjust later if there is no beta *cryes*

    All I hear from these dev's is blah, blah, blah.

    Don't get your hopes up, will be a Christmas miracle if this game ever goes beta.

    I can already see what's going to happen btw.  When DF finally announces a beta, their NDA will forbid anyone from even admitting they are part of it.  That way they'll just be rumors and whispers of folks being accepted and actually testing, (most likely only people from "key clans") but of course, no way to ever prove it.

    Rumors are rumors, anouncements are anouncements, and a client.exe file is a client.exe file.

     

    I’m really curious to play Darkfall, but I’m more curious to learn if I’ll ever play it.

    Let me clarify that when I said “committed “ I meant it in the sense that the community in general will perceive this as a commitment for beta in a few months and release this year , but in fact under closer scrutiny the statement does not technically commit them to anything.

    Excuse and justification for beta and release dates missed in the past.

    "Circumstances have a way of changing, so we don't want to try to estimate again when so many things are in flux."


    Excuse and justification for potentially missed beta and release dates in the future.

    Note the only thing they are certain is that they expect beta within a few months and launch can be this year.

    Not "the only thing certain is beta within a few months and launch this year."

    When we decide whether to go with a publisher or to self publish we will announce a beta date."


    Apparently the primary reason responsible for delay in the beta announcement is the decision on which way to distribute the game.

    It would seem the current state of the games development does not seem to be an issue worth mentioning in relation to the beta announcement issue.

    I doubt it will be a beta announcement. Hopefully they have decided whether to selfpublish the game, which would be awsome, or publish it any other way.     I don’t categorized peoples posts using a judgmental value system so I could not answer your question, I just consider each persons individual opinions based on the merits of there content.

    its possible since they said within a few months but i dont expect a beta date until end of march may at the latest

    We can hope for an exclusive new video showing what hes been wanting to show us at somepoint.

    We essentialy had zero info for nearly a month, new update this week supposedly but I hope they launch the new website with all the goodies pretty soon. As for launch this year, i dunno possible yes but highly unlikely the game would have to be 95% complete when beta starts and it would have to start 1st quarter 2008 in order to make the 4th quarter 2008 release because it takes at least 4-6 months for most betas some last longer.

    yea i think thats there plan unless its way more ocmplete than we think we will have to see tho

    This weeks update will prolly be pretty big, either a new vid, QA + screenshots or a new website launch which would probably have a few new vids + screenshots, and feature updates. I am hoping it's the website launch, because that will include a ton of update info as well as all the other goodies that come with it.

    I think it will be another of the usual generic “we are working hard“, “we have had these problems“, “we are planning to do this“, “we will notify you when this happens” type updates.

    Possibly with a few new screenshots of the usual generic “characters standing in terrain” type.

    If I’m wrong then good , perhaps we will get a beta announcement or a video or something interesting, but i doubt it.

    He said he would “likely” update next week anyway so judging by past experience it might not be this week anyway.

    I agree, hoping for something more is setting yourself for a dissepointment. That said, he has been working hard on some internal deadline the last weeks and he did promised a video, so there may be something interresting in the next issue. Or not. Time will show.
