zerocoldzerocold Member Posts: 20

Again other feature i am wondering .. will Aion build in some feature that prevent people to farm in game currency and sell to real world money .. that cause major infuent to in game economic ? .. as i know like wow and other major MMO have hard time fight with those farmer ..

If you ever play Zu Online<Mod edit> they have 3 type of currency in game .. which i think this would help a lot on prevent this kind of problem to happen .. try out and see it ur self .. <Mod edit>

As long as there's lazy people in the world, there will always be gold buyers and gold farmers providing them services.

Aion's anti-gold buying/selling remedy will be so that most items/weapons/armor will be easy enough to get so people don't have to resort to gold buying. Hopefully, this would keep item value low enough so gold farming would have no meaning.

From what has been said by the Devs, they are implementing a 3 pronged plan to cater to the masses. Prong 1 - PvP points, Prong 2 - questing, and lastly Prong 3 - crafting.

The Devs have expressed that all items will be attainable in all 3 ways. They say the easiest and the quickest way to get the "uber gear" is via PvP in the Abys. However, you are not limited to engaging in PvP for getting the "mace of the apocalypse". You may also decide to engage in a series of quests to attain it.

When all is said and done, the Devs are taking away many of the excuses people have for buying currency. But, as was said before, there will ALWAYS be people to buy currency.

    Very well said...

As in Tabula Rasa, there is no need to ever buy currency, as alot of the uber gear and weapons are easily obtained through simple questing, and the stuff drops from the mobs. Being an MMO vet i was like "wow" i cant believe that they virtually eliminated the farmer. Im hoping that NCsoft atleast would consider using the same if not similar approach that it currently decided to use in Tabula Rasa.

I still cant wait for Aion...

Let's hope NCSoft will start on a "clean" slate with this game.

Unfortunately with Lineage 2, they simply didn't tell us the truth about their intentions with regards to "farmers/adena sellers".  Now, of course we'll never, never know the truth about botters and farmers of L2 until the day NCSoft cease to exist as a franchise, which of course might never happen.  However too many hard core gamers have seen and experienced too much from the old game to just turn a blind eye.

Not going to go any further as I'm still in research mode with regards to the cyber secondary econmies.  This will be part of a hopeful book for me on the MMO experience.

Currently, there is limited control over certain places that are known to sell gold.  In Aion, money won't play a big part in game play.  From all the incredible scenery, quests, harvesting, crafting,  and many kinds of other great experiences being rich in the game won't exactly help you or get the full potential of Aion.

I'm actually more concerned about in-game gold spammers ruining the atmosphere of the game than actual in-game illegal RMT / gold selling. I think a good system is to allow players easy to use in game tool to report spammers like those implemented by WoW and LOTRO (right clicking a spammer's name and clicking report spammer will automatically generate a GM ticket as well as put the spammer on ignore).

To be honest, it's kinda hard to find a viable way to completely eliminate gold farming as who is to say the player is a farmer or a legitimate player, not to mention that the farmer is also legitimately paying to play the game abiet their goal is not fun but to make money. A good solution is to make economy just an insignificant part of the game and instead reward players that plays well.

Don't get what's the relation between RMT and L2 players having to pay if they want to change their servers.

Ofc NCsoft wants money, and they aren't the ones who started charging for server transfers, failing to see what's wrong in that since it's your decission after all.

There is a way to stop this crap.  First, stop making games that require little to do except farm for cash.  Unfortunately, inept game developers who have little in the way of creative nature, think they can make up for that by creating a massive number of grind based games with little to no actual content.  Creating a game that is sustainable through content is not all that hard.  The funny part of all this is, L2, one of the biggest perpetrators of this problem, had customers who more creative than the devs.  They came out with all sorts of things like manga, anime, and clipped together movies that were pretty enjoyable.  If NC Soft would get off their wallets and hire some of these people, they might actually have a content worth speaking of.

Now we have a reason to stay in the game besides farming that 200 adena per mob to get that 1.9 trillion adena bow/staff/sword.  The casual gamers will still fall behind so next, you level cap every item in the game.  And I mean serious level capping.  Not this 10 or 20 level bit they have in most games now.  Make it so weapons loose effectiveness if you are X levels above them as well as the current lowest level equipable solution that is in place.  Next, remove xp deaths.  This keeps the farmers from delevelling to stay in a range to use weapons and farm optimal mobs.  Make it so that if you fight mobs too easy for you, there is zero chance of a drop.  Mobs more than 2 levels below you should stop dropping items.

Finally, ip ban china.  75% of the people doing the farming are chinese students in internet cafes trying to make some spare change.  Most internet PvP based games are illegal in china anyhow since they passed that law in their country a few years ago that made it illegal to have games where characters could benefit from killing other characters.

These things should take care of all but the most hard core farmers which can be handled on a issue by issue thing.

Of course you could always take the approach games like shadowbane took.  Characters are not safe anywhere and anything they have not equipped is lootable.  So now the player base can police the farmers.  Of course, shadowbane is not a very good choice to model after considering the amount of hacking etc that went on it but the game style does serve as an effective player base policing model.

you're kidding right? a game sustainable through content is impossible, that is not a maybe or anything, it's plain out impossible until the day we have ai that is actually able to put together new content on it's own, which is so far away that most likely not even your grandchildren will experience it.

most games aren't based on farming cash but on farming items and cash, where the cash is of no further use without farming items because you will exchange money for items of other people. take out the cash and you will just see item drops auctioned off by "goldfarmers", the only possibility to destroy this system is by removing any kind of equipment (which no one wants) or by not allowing trades (which no one wants either)

i have no clue what the weapon suggestion is there for because that's practically how it works everywhere, lower level weapons will suck bad compared to anything at your current level.

there are many games without xp deaths that have a massive amount of goldfarmers, many games have monsters too low for you not drop items already... there is nothing new here and nothing that will stop anything.

Hahahaha very nice remarks.  Very nice observation Zarzu.

Please guys, stop all these "racism" in a games forum.  Here are here to enjoy some good times playing a game, and making friends online.  We can stop thinking about hair or skin color.  We are elves, and dwarves, not Americans or Cubans.  If you hate me, do so b/c I am an orc.

Amarath had some points, utopic tho, there must be a time sink in MMOs and many people enjoy being rewarded, however, if the game's best can be obtained by just farming in a spot Farmers will take over the market, if the best of the best, like in Aion's case, can be only obtained through pvp, then there we have a step into the right direction, something that requires people to be online and organized in order to excell and something that can't be sold, or that can be patrolled by players themselves (imagine a farming company selling pvp points and how much they would last in a FFA pvp area, giving an unprofessional and risky service.

you will always find gold farmer in games... so this wont change..

the biggest problem that i can find .. and we can see in L2 is the devellopment of Bots.. ncsoft does not really react on this and this is killing the game.. when you see that some area of the game are "reserved" for the gold farmer and no way to do anything against it... also players are using bots to get the powerleveling from there caracters..

hope ncsoft will do something on Aion against this.. otherwise this will kill the game..

obtaining items through pk... my kinda game ^.^

im ANYTHING but a carebear... i hate exping...

  • KahlaneKahlane Member Posts: 4

wth... why then playing games when you dont like playing... farm, xping or all other system is part of the game.. why do i need a damned bot to play for me? the game is done for HCG.. you cannot play so much, dont play mmorpg... if you need a bot system to play for you this is not your game.. so delete will be better for all... imo!

gold farm is another thing... gold farmer are working.. ok they can work  no pb at all for me.. but dont disturb my way to play while you re working... !!
