I was wondering ... will there be an open Beta in with we, the oversea people, can test Aion out?
Or will it be a closed Beta with Aion launching (shortly?) after it, this being in Q3-4 2008?
Anyone saw any official information about this?
Thanks in advance.

official we dont know yet.. but what we know is.. 2nd beta starting 03/08 in korea... release in korea normally in Q2 so around june/ july... then same time that korea release.. you will have the open beta in US and EU.. release is plan for begenning Q4 in US/EU... all this is not sure at all.. how could it be .. depend of the 2nd beta in korea and release !
The word is they are trying very hard to give us a US/EU beta, but nothing specific or dated ETA has been given. ^_^
(,,,)=^__^=(,,,)
any news about eu/na beta yet?
Unless you can speak/write Korean and can therefore assist with the development of the game, there's absolutely no reason for anyone to be in the Korean beta. Beta testing is to help develop a game, not play around for your own desire to see if you like it or not. Don't waste beta spots that could be used by real testers. The reason a lot of games launch with flaws is because of the selfish hundreds or even thousands of "beta testers" who just want a free preview of a game. So stop destroying the MMO industry with your selfishness.
wow little agrressive exgageration there... i mean iv played in tons of betas that i havnt reviewed but iv also played alot of betas that iv reviewed... likw Sword of the new world... i didnt review that and look its still there
would someone not from US or EU be able to play on that server when its out?
there is a dude in russia who is in the korean closed beta..so you probably will be able to play

Really now, was your post even needed? you act as if you made the game. Everyone plays for their own reasons regardless of the reasons the beta is there for in the first place. Stop playing beta police and let people alone to express themselves freely. Oh and for the record I will also be trying to get into the beta, not only for testing but also for my selfish reasons of getting a headstart on the game because I think it's the next best thing. Does that piss you off even more?
sheesh...
I am sick of this bullshit where just because we live in different countrys we cant have beta at the same time. If they are trying to get more western style influence in their mmo would it not make more sense if they let NA and Europe play in beta also on different servers from the korean beta?
Are we even going to be able to play with koreans when the game comes out like in final fantasy 11 where we can play with japanese players in the same servers. And it worked out pretty well thanks to the translator.
we will have ...but they want to consintrate on other thing than translate it for 50 different languages in the eu....
Problem here is that simultaneous beta would only slow down things, and also, the game is developed by people who barely talk any english if anything, so, the feedback system wouldn't be half as effective.
Anyways, they aren't going to change their game just cause of beta reports, they might change some minor details that would surely be the same we would report.
That said, I would sell my body to play Aion (to a secksee girl ofc )
Do you really want to compare Korea ncsoft market to us/eu? We are nothing compared to them.. Ncsoft doesnt care bout us, we only 7 or 8% of their market. Lineage2 has 2mil asian players and about 100k from us/eu, and 80% of them are bots from asian also. So why would they care? I wouldn't..

Regardless of how small our market is compared to Asia, their main goal is to make Aion well-known worldwide.
From what I hear, they are currently translating the massive Korean text and voice-overs into English, so there's no chance for them to set up a Closed beta for NA/EU even if they wanted to. If anything, everyone will probably see an Open Beta before the NA/EU release.
I played FFXI for 4 years and I've noticed the Japanese players avoided NA players like the plague if they weren't desperate for a tank and/or healer. I only managed to get invites from them when they realized I wasn't annoying and selfish like many others. I'm sure NCSoft noticed this if they haven't tasted this problem already and want to avoid this scenario.

I dont mean to hijack the thread but can you elaborate more on your experiences of American players being avoided in general. I find that very interesting.
Well it's not just NA players, most of them basically isolate themselves by saying "(I'm sorry) JP pt only". A lot of NA players I played with know this is true. My Japanese friend know this as fact when he browsed the Japanese FFXI forums and read about people complaining about all sorts of crap. Further proof is when most of the Japanese that couldn't deal with it segregated to one server. I want to minimize my rudeness so I'm not going into details.

Suu141, I have also played FFXI for four years (Gilgamesh) and I can back up every word you said. I can't tell you how annoying it is to be told "jp pt only" or "sorry, english pt too weak" I sincerely hope Aion squashes that. I believe no matter where you live you have good and bad players, but its such a natural thing to be told by jp's "english no thnx" that it makes you not want to bother with them. I have made some very good jp, and french friends though but that only a few out of hundreds, sad.
I too can say that its true. Playing since the NA PC release, there was always some sort of conflict going on with JPs and the rest of us. "JP onry" was pretty common to see on the search comments, and many of them refused to party with us unless they were desperate for a specific job. That's not to say that there were some who did want to play with us, but the majority didn't like the diverse servers.
So you guys want it to be seperate servers just cuz your feelings get hurt? I played FF11 for like 2 years and made lots of Japanese friends in the game. It doesnt bother me much if some people want to be distant from us americans or europeans. But having the chance to find the good people out there and befriend them makes a big difference and helps tolerate the ones that put the "JP only" message up.
japanese ppl are nice in games....Japanese Linage 2 i found more nice people in the first 5 min then i did my whole NA Lineage experience....
I'm sorry but you got it backwards. This isn't about my(our) feelings that got hurt, it's more about the Japanese players that got hurt when their common impression of us as "rude, inconsiderate and sloppy". I don't blame them for the "JP only" message because they're the ones that can't tolerate US as a whole. I didn't have much trouble with the Japanese since somewhere along the lines I was known among them as 'One of the best Redmages' they've met. The bottom line is, regardless of how much I(we) like Japanese players, they're the ones that hate our guts. You can thank the idiots that ruined it for the rest of us.
Therefore, regardless of how much I want to play with Korean players, until most of us decides to grow up and be a little more considerate, I feel it would be best if Koreans isolated themselves from us so we don't make the same mistake and embarrass ourselves with our stupidity. With Europeans and UK, that's an entirely different matter since they already know this.
Edit: I'm not against international type servers, in fact I love meeting players from around the world, but these problems will continue until everyone can prove otherwise, unless that happens, it's not going to work.

its what they learn about europeans and amaricans from tv and the older generations is what makes them hate us here. its the same with arab, africans and other asian countries.
I don't know where you got that idea from. I never said I wanted to have separate servers(In fact I want diverse servers even on Aion). I still enjoyed playing with people around the world even if they didn't like sharing the servers with us. I've met a handful of JPs that were nice, and the whole "JP onry" thing I could care less about. Its their loss for not wanting to meet new people. All I was doing is just providing additional experience on the whole subject.
I have played ffxi since NA realease and i have been in alot of JP and NA parties. The reason they put JP party only is cause unlike NA parties they don't waste time, when they xp they xp and i can understand that if i wanted to RP or do some other stupid shit like chitchat or throw insults and act like a bitch (which is the case in NA pty onry, have yet to see one in JP pty)
i would stay in Jeuno or log onto MSN.
It's simple they wan't to acomplish things when they log to play if they wanted to waste time on chatting they would log onto instant messanger or something.
On the other hand i really hope Aion has players all over the world playing.
