Absolutely ridiculous. A formal apology. Pathetic. Many people have had worse experiences and didn't get a finger lifted for them. Remember the women who bought the flip-flops from Walmart and her feet were chemically burned from wearing them? Not an apology to her - just a nice "F*** you, we don't care!"
I hated Walmart before, but this draws the line. I'm boycotting the SOBs now.

"Please don't stick me up" lmao.. who they hell do they hire in Walmart? People who couldn't get a job at McDonald's that's who...
Yes, I agree the employee shouldn't have said it. But it is not a situation which would require the proposed solution.
Come on Dekron....are YOU serious. You are upset at Wal-Mart because of a dumbass employee. Any company who had an idiot say something like that to a person's face would/should do the same thing.
Do you believe racial slurs and being condescending to those people of other religions and cultures should be tolerated? Or is it because we have a "war on terror" and everyone who dresses as this lady did is a terrorist or knows one and therefore should be able to be mocked publicly?
I am not saying Wal-Mart is an angel of a company, but you should not berate them for taking corrective action in this case.

The person i'm sure meant it in a kidding manner but nonetheless it offended that person. Its a formal apology due to the fact she's of the islamic faith. They don't want The Islamic rights commisson on they're backs.

As I said above - I don't condone what the employee said; however, I am sick of these companies caving into CAIR's demands to put every employee through a biased sensitivity training for Islam. Anyone can walk into any public place and be offended by anything anyone says. Nobody complains - except in cases such as this. I am sick of the pandering and overly "niceness" to muslims for fear of reprisal or being *gasp* bombed. It is starting at my place of employment and in my classrooms.

Actually it has gone on in the classrooms since the 70's,in the summer of 75 i moved to a new school district and listened to the homeroom teacher drone on for hours when he said lets get out our pad and pencils and get to work. Well i raised my hand and asked about saying the pledge of allegiance when i was informed that they didn't do that at the school. It seems someone from the moslem faith complained about the words "One Nation Under God" You see they were worried about which God. They were only allowed to pray to Allah not the God of the Jews or Christians and they didn't like the umbrella word of God . So they threatened to sue,and the liberal progressive school district did not mind removing the pledge at all.
Dek, it does not matter who it is though, don't you see? Don't you think NAACP, NILP or NOW would jump on something like this as well, of course. I don't see it as pandering and being overly nice to the Muslim community...it is smart business and fighting a fire before it spreads because of one individual. Yes Islam is a "hot-button" topic but that is not the reason.
I am guessing if both of us would have been around during the Human Rights Movement in the 60's, I would have heard you complaining about sensitivity training for companies whose employees said things to african-american individuals. Or maybe take sexual-harassment point of view, let me guess you would think a company taking action is weak and should be boycotted because the other party had it coming to them?
But you are complaining about a solution/end result and not the problem, which is an uneducated section of society willing to say something like that to a person's face. Everyone including myself makes jests about other people and cultures, just most people have the tact and intelligence to filter the words coming out of their mouth in the context of their surroundings. I hope this training gives that little portion some insight (most likely the info goes in one ear and out the other.)

Have you ever seen one of this sensitivity training "classes"? Do you think it is right to require an individual to be forced to go through a presentation regarding some religion and be forced to comply with all material presented - even if it means partaking in a prayer sessions - bowing down to Mecca and praying to a fake god named allah - that or lose their job?
I won't explain mself on every point you tried to make about me other than to say you are completely wrong. My complaint is strictly towards an oppressive ideology hiding behind the veil of a religion. My point is not to bow down to these imbeciles so people won't be oppressed. My view is more for equality than those of the people who support these fascists.
Walmart is ghetto, I haven't shopped there in about 5 years. Basically all the ______mart are ghetto, except S-Mart.
Shop smart, shop S-Mart!
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
So you are upset because Wal Mart is catering to political correctness in doing "sensitivity training" with someone who obviously needs it?

How the hell did you pull "this is about the spread of a fascist religion by whatever means necessary," out of this article? Is freaking Wal-Mart some cover for a covert islamic national movement and by having this one location go through sensitivity training, all of the individuals there will covert to Islam and bring rise a new fascist empire? Praying to a fake god named Allah...lmao...let me guess your god is more realzzz. Yes I think it is fair for people to have to sit through something because of another individuals action. Does it SUCK....hell yeah and if I was one of the other employee's I would be pissed. And this is about equality, because if this employee was not saying, "Please don't blow me up" to everyone he checked out, he was descriminating against the other individual in that context.
I don't consider women second class citizens and I know my cousin had to sit through sexual harassment sensitivety training ( for Sony or Technicolor forget) even though they were not envolved with anything along those lines. Was that supposed to give rise to some femenist movement. No it is an educational tool used by companies to prevent lawsuits in the future. Just like this is being used by Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart and the empolyee are in the ones in control of what goes on. If the empolyee does not do something stupid guess what there is no punishment and life goes on. If empolyees did not steal, guess what there would be no need for employee loss prevention training (my sister works as an undercover for a retail chain and they had to go through this).
Man I can't stop asking questions because I want to understand your thinking. It is so far removed from what I consider rational.

It's not this article alone. It's a culmination of this crap. Just visit CAIR's website for a wonderful look. Yes, more background on why I am "paranoid" about this is needed, but I can say it is crap I see on a daily basis where I work. This just tipped the symbolic iceberg.
And it is not paranoia - it's being cautious. And I say fascist, because that's what it is. And yes, I say false god because that's what I believe. All this is my massive rant. As I said, I deal with this at work (i.e. "How can we make the Muslim students happy, welcome, etc. Let's throw Islam awareness week, throw in some Islam sensitivity training and dedicate a whole week to them just to appease them." kind of crap).
WoW now if you consider that kidding id hate to work with you.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

I visited CAIR's website per your request. Here is the first story I found,I found that it show a nice comprimise of how the Islamic faith can work within our society and be true to it's core ideals. There is also another about hunger awareness. I really don't know what you were trying to point out by asking me or others to check it out, but I am glad you did. The story below was quite nice:
Muslims bury their dead quickly — within 24 hours. The dead must be interred without a casket, facing the holy city of Mecca.
Before the burial, the body is washed with soap and scented water, then wrapped in a seamless cloth, tied at the head and feet. Cremation and embalming are forbidden.
But the specific burial rites meant to prepare Muslims for the afterlife are in conflict with public health codes and public cemetery regulations, forcing Muslims in the state to compromise the rituals outlined in the Quran.
Some mosques are calling for members to enter the funeral industry, while others find creative alternatives that keep with Islamic law.
"We must respect the law of the land in which we live — that's the essence of Islam," said Muhammed Ali, the president of the Daar-ul-Ehsaan mosque in Bristol.
But Ali believes Muslims can adhere to health regulations and remain faithful to Islamic burial traditions. They just need to ask for a loose interpretation of the law.
When members of the Daar-ul-Ehsaan mosque opened a cemetery last year behind the mosque, they were told by state health officials that the dead must be buried in concrete vaults because of the mosque's proximity to a residential neighborhood. Most public cemeteries won't bury a body without a vault or a burial liner, and state law requires the dead be interred in caskets or containers if a cemetery lies within 350 feet of a residential dwelling.
Ali's concern was that the heavy equipment needed to move the concrete vaults in the cemetery would disturb existing grave sites.
So, Ali searched the Internet for an alternative and found lightweight plastic vaults made from the same composite materials as the Boeing 787 that passed public health codes and can be easily moved.
"We looked behind the spirit of the law and found a compromise," Ali said.
Naveed Khan, a member of the United Muslim Masjid of Waterbury, said many Muslims find the compromises difficult. He sees a need for more Muslim cemeteries and more Muslims entering the funeral business as the state's Muslim population grows and ages. He wants mosques to be able to perform the ritual washing and shrouding — symbolic of wrapping the dead in Allah's mercy — without the need of a traditional funeral home. . .
Ali said when the Bristol mosque buries its first Muslim in the cemetery, soil will be spread on the bottom of the plastic vault so the body is in touch with the earth in accordance with Islamic law.
"Islam is flexible," Ali said. "Hopefully as time goes by, things will change, but in the meantime we have to respect the laws of the land." (MORE)

I can answer your topic question.
Litigious society.
which in turn, led to people suddenly having sissy feelings.
some things are blatant and should not be condoned, but most are BS.
-I will subtlety invade your psyche-
This is my last post in this thread. My rant is over and I cooled down.
WoW now if you consider that kidding id hate to work with you.
LOL!!! actually my employees love my since of humor, i'm told "your the koolest" either that or they're just suck ups...lol. The person was more likely ignorant with the whole veil thing and just saw a lady with a mask on and just played around about being robbed...to get the lady to laugh. I mean someone should tell the lady hey look thats part of there culture, she might not have known. A class? nah... next thing you know there will be a class for everything and tax payers money will of course pay for it. "I saw a christmas tree at that place of business and it offended me that business needs a sensitivity class because i dont believe in christmas". I'm not saying what the lady said was right by all means but i can see how some people's humor might have thought it would make the lady laugh. I'm sure the muslem lady's sense of humor is different than the clerk's, it has to be, because if it wasnt so this wouldnt be on the news.
Did you read the article. It actually is. And yes, i've been to a session such as this where they make you pray, or at least attempt to. I raised hell, so to speak, and left.

If your job involves riding a bie, and you dont know how to ride a bike, you get taught how to ride a bike.
They arnt being trained how to BE muslims, just how to speak to a Muslim without unintentionally causing offence.... nothing wrong with that at all.
No, actually they offer "consultation" after the session for information on converting. Not to offend, but you are quite naive.
Your boycott seems to be working, Wal-Mart stock went up $0.18 today. Keep up the good work, and let Allah be with you.
