New to game, need a bit o help!

Hey, guys!

I just picked up Planetside the other day, and am having a load of fun with it!  I'm playing on the Emerald server (US EAST) and could use some help/guidance.  I'm also looking for a guild (or whatever the equivalent is.)

Right now the only character I have is TR, named Centrik.

    Welcome to the game Centrik, I hope you're having a fun time :D.

    For a TR Outfit a would recommend Hells Rangers their a pretty good group their Outfit (Guild) Leader is 1Shot1Kill or Shadow Assassins their Outfit (Guild) Leader is NeuspeeD2.

    Make sure you check out the PlanetSide Idea Lab. Hayoo has some great stuff on their. First time I went their I read everything for about 2 hours straight. I wish the PS devs would put all his ideas into the game :).

    Heres a stats website

    Planetside Stats - Great site to keep up with your character progression as far as how much outfit points and kills you got in one day. I love this site.

    EDIT: Heres a few tips to get into the gameplay more easily. Use the med kits in fights. The extra 25 health can mean a big difference between getting killed and getting a kill. Use third person to camp the corner of hallways and stairwells. It lets you get you get a jump on an opponent. If you don't want to get that huge beam killing you all the time at base assualts avoid going where everyone else is going. Like the back door. Since you're TR avoid getting close the the NC's Shotgun, that weapon will just rip you apart at CQB. When assualting a VS base avoid using the back door most of the time. Due to the VS always spamming their lashers with about a squad or more down there, its a pure death trap. One last thing is if you're using the MCG (TR's Heavy Assault Weapon)  don't spray and pray with it do about 20 shot burts with it. It only takes 13 rounds to kill a reinforced exo suit.

    It's funny you mentioned Shadow Assassins.  I joined them yesterday after talking to a few of em and signing up on their site.  I will take a look at idea lab now.

    I have to say, so far I'm very impressed by the game.  Once you get passed the graphics (which aren't THAT bad), the game is quite enjoyable.

    I'm glad you found a good outfit without any hassle. It will make playing and learning the game a lot more better. I love playing this game with people. My favoriate is running a column of 5 vanguards, lets just say you can kill lots of things with that kind of fire power.

    The game is DX8 based one. The graphics aren't too bad if you crank up the games options to the highest level with 4XAA, 16XAF, and the highest quality settings. I'm not sure of the specs on your computer but I could do that with my 7900 GT. I'm on a 8800 GTS 512 now.

    welcome to planetside, and especially TR emerald <3

     

    with Shadow Assassins you picked a dependable outfit.  if they say in command chat that they take care of something (resecure a base for example) i am sure that they will succeed.

    for most enjoyment you should make sure to be on voicecoms with them. it makes explaining things easier for the vets and during non-heavy fighting times you can get to know the others, eventually making friends.

    Another tip I'd give would be to not sell yourself short on having just one character from one empire. Make some other chars on the other empires so that you can experience their weapons/vehicles as well. But be careful when you want to switch characters, because it will lock you out of your other character for 12 hours when you do. So if you log in with your TR at first and then you get an itchin for a jackhammer, make sure you're not going to want to jump back on til the next day because you'll be locked out of the TR char for 12 hours if you switch to the NC one.
