I am an addictive personality (been sober for 15+years now) and know that I can easily become addicted to just about anything; love, work, chocolate, booze, and yes..games.  I have to be careful with gambling, sweets, women, (yul brenner voice from The King and I inc...) etc. etc. etc.

If any of these things interferes with my job, sleeping, eating and so-on, I got a problem.  Luckily I know this and can see it coming, then can take measures to correct it.  It is up the person, I am not unsympathetic to those with problems, Im one of them and have learned in my many years (49) that I and only I am responsible for my actions..my two cents.

When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.

And this is about gaming, thats MUCH MUCH easier...

I first got addicted to Runescape and WoW... But if I had some place to go IRL and some raid, id choose the irl event for sure...

I have been toying with the idea that some people seem to think that if something is addictive in some way it should be banned for the betterment of the community...

And yet since cigarretes, Mountain Dew, Sports, and Gambling are still around, why is there a problem with Video Games?

Why JUST video games and not everything that is deemed harmful?

"Won't someone PLEASE think of the children?!?!"

Well... i'm all for correctly using the rating system...

Yes it is addictive, but MMO Gamers are hardly that much different from people who find they need to pray daily, need to watch their soap operas, or need to read through forums...

People who get addicted deserve it, they have weak willpower, and as I believe, only those stronger and more fit to survival are who truly succeed, that is how life works. There doesn't need to be counseling on addictive video gaming, because it's an obsession, a hobby. Crack on the other hand is a drug that manipulates your body.
Video Gaming is no different than playing High School football, yet it gets way more heat.
In the grand scheme of things anything can be addictive.

That said, it isn't the games fault, it isn't societies fault, it isn't  the school, justice, air, water, wind, earth, fire, space, alignment of the moon, Jack Thompson's mindless ravings or even junk science studies. It is the persons fault so take some responsibility people. :p

This is stupid. Everybody knows that MMOs in general are addictive, some more than others. And YES, if you have no life MMOs are just gonna get things worse.
