Steve Williams, aka "Aruspex," who was the lead developer for diplomacy for Vanguard: Saga of Heros, announced that he is moving onward to StarGate Worlds as a developer there.
IMHO, this is a good thing; those of us who have gotten to know him over the development of the diplomacy sphere have had high praise for this developer, and I (for one) will be following closely what he does for SGW.

That is some great news. I played VGSOH just to check out his design. Does he have a blog?
Edited: found it! ty ty
The diplomacy system in VSOH is great, should be a good addition to SGW.
Should be interesting... I for one am interested in high concept and unique/innovative features in MMO instead of the regular kill first and ask questions later kind of gameplay.
The only question most players ask is why cant I kill that faster?
What if we request torture? Kidding.
I find it very hard to get excited about Vanguard Devs working on this. It's not as if Vanguard was/is a stellar product. Pretty sub-par imo. The diplomacy system was/is a neat idea though so I'll withhold judgement till I see what he does with it here.
TBQH with the way developers seem hell bent on rushing crap games to market these days I don't really have very high hopes that this will be a title worth playing.

look, startgate from day dot was a good concept for a game, all they gotta do is copy the series and it will be mint, y do u think so many people play it ?
I dont like the diplo in vanguard too complecated
Did someone actually loot a good developer from the pile of poo that is vanguard? Congrats SG:Worlds team!

To some extent it is a good news for stargate world, the developer team will become more stronger, I also believe stargate world will attract more players.
Well, They got the dev that was in charge of one of the things that most people agree was very well done in Vanguard. I mean seriously, just because the game had a horrible launch and was mis managed doesn't mean that there aren't members of the development team that were very skilled. Haven't you ever had a job that no matter how great at it you were you had a boss that always managed to make everyone look stupid? Lord knows I have...
-Currently looking forward to FFXIV

This gives me higher hopes. I am tired of things handed to me on a silver platter in MMO's. Complicated is good imo. Maybe, just maybe developers are moving past the simplistic gamplay that WoW made the here and now.
I like the line "looted a good developer from Vanguard." hahaha
Im a bit confused about this being a good thing. Afaik (from playing it), the diplomacy system was very buggy from the start, which can only be due to a developer.
But at least now, he has more experience, so who knows maybe fewer problems in the future.
btw, its not a developers job to design the game as some of the above posts seems to suggest, developers just program the stuff handed to them.
At least has big MMO experience. Although Vanguard wasn't a stellar success, it still is a big time MMO.
This is good news, but I my interest in this MMO has wanted over the past year. I'll have to hear reviews from people that played it before I think of buying it and I am a huge Stargate fan.
I think it was a rare 'drop'.

The diplomacy system in Vanguard was fun when it worked, but failed in its execution do to bugs and imbalances. I'd love to see it in other games though if they can get it to work correctly.
As far as Vanguards failure, I think a big part of that could be laid at the feet of the management team, but devs ofcourse have to take responsibility too.
I know nothing about Vanguard but diplomacy is a big part of the Stargate shows. Sounds like a viable archeologist skill.
Vanguard had some problems but I agree this is a good thing hopefully this guy will use his experience to help and already awesome team... sounds good... lets not hope for a repeat of vanguard.
