Just watched the vid it's badass, the graphic visuals look allot better then I origionally thought. Hope I can run the damn thing, duo processor and a 256mb Vid card looks to be a necessity.
I hope it plays a lot better than it looks. The art work is great, but the quality of graphics leaves a lot to be desired. At least we have a 2008 video now. LOL Next one, 2009.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Ok, nice video and all but where does this put DF as far as the game progress? Will there be a beta soon?
""But Coyote, you could learn! You only prefer keyboard and mouse because that's all you've ever known!" You might say right before you hug a rainforest and walk in sandals to your drum circle where you're trying to raise group consciousness of ladybugs or whatever it is you dirty goddamn hippies do when you're not busy smoking pot and smelling bad." Coyote's Howling: Death of the Computer
I guess you're too used to glow effects and carebear graphics opposed to more realistic graphics as Darkfall is trying to strive for.
Take a look at the graphical generation of the movement sequence, i don't think i ever saw a game engine that produced a smoother movement pattern than that.
Reality is the illusion that arises by lack of alcohol!
It seems that there's a graphical theme that they are trying to stick to, the Human and Mirdain (Elf), Orc and Alfar areas all looked dangerous and dark, gritty as opposed to all the other games that make everyhting look like a fashion show.
The movement of the characters looks amazing, never seen anyhting like that in a game before; notice the Alfar Drake mount the sequance of the moves looks definately next generation.... props to the developers for making the animations so realistic.
BTW the armor set pieces look very well done, the alfar armor looks pretty sick i like the style and the direction they took with the content. The weapon seems to have an impact on the character movement, if you watch the vid at the end there's a character running in the elf city with an axe as the character runs it's head sways from one side to the other and the body itself is pointed toward the heavy axe.
Would be nice if somebody here who has a decent background in graphical engine development could shed some light onto difference between this and previously released video snippets from the game.
I would be interested to know how much of an overhaul the engine has had. I can see graphics for myself but maybe there's more to be seen with a trained eye. Parts of the vid look unrealistically sped up in sections but that may just be the god mode viewing camera in use. But it does look and 'feel' unlike some of the other older screenies of a year ago.

I am not an expert but there is major difference, but technically speaking the textures and the eye candy are always added near the end of the development cycle. They are gradually improved, but from watching the vid over and over and comparing it to the 2007 February PvP vid that they did release there is a major major difference; the visuals contain more textures and everything looks more crisp.
Not sure what kind of pc or vid card they did take the screenshots and video in but it looks good, you're seeing textures on armor, landscape, buildings and dynamic shadows.

The ultimate solution to every problem: more space marines.
Vid and 6 screenshots, awesome update.
The port/ship yard is awesome, i guess this is where clan cities will be able to build up their navies.

I hope this video dont hurt Darkfalls vaporware reputation?
/sarcasm
Worry not, it's still deeply entrenched. Duke nukem forever is looking to actually release before this game.
Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

I worry - I hear they are taking lessons from Iraqi's former Information minister. There is no Aventurine in Greece. Never.

Aye the athmosphere ingame seems magical. And the ones complaining about the graphics look at these screenies that do the game more justice.
The screenies which closer resemble the actual screen quality of the game - free of the considerable video compression degradation.
Top 6 is new ones.

After 8 years, they are still working on the scenery?
