The new GDC AOC videos really and finally brought back my hopes for the game.
Few things i noticed , and was plesantly sorprised
1. Graphic is apsolutely STUNNING! I think there is no other (fantasy) game that looks anything like AOC
2. One vid is showing graphic scalability to be quite extensive. The game does look much worse , but it seems like it runs on 3-4 old years computer
3. Character creation - best ever seen in MMO
4. Gameplay - not perfect , but much more fluid than in before seen vids
5. The game finally looks POLISHED! and ready for release!

I agree. Those videos wanted me to hibernate or anything to pass the time until release. The graphics are pretty sweet. I have a 4 year old computer and i'm pretty sure it will not run it. 1.8 GHz of "raw processing power" lol. I have heard that this game is either polished and ready for release and ive also heard that its not close to being ready. so hopefully it should be ready on time because i've been dying to play this game.
For me, the construction display provides an appeal that competing release titles don't seem to have right now. This definitely helps my preference of AoC over WAR for western MMOs - Aion needs to show me something to keep my attention!
The videos looked pretty darn good but I just hope that the gameplay and combat mechanics are fluid. We need a rise above the rest from AoC including a good crafting system (not TOO incredibly in-depth like Vanguard), but make crafting fun. Funcom has 3 months to deliver a polished product, and let's pray they can do it.
I just hope it doesn't get pushed back again.

I do not always agree with Lobo-san, but I respect him, for he follows his passions and still stays alert to changes, and doesnt follow blindly. We have so many people who are either passionate fans or bashers, its good to be flexible, not bad. ^^
I also found the new vids good and reinforce my interest. My sceptics with difficult combat handling remains tho. Reminds me somehow of the aim and cover of NGE, but we'll have to see.

I agree, AoC looks AMAZING.
Though, I wont be playing it for the simple reason that they will be adding nudity etc.
Dont flame me for that, its just my opinion.

I think he means in terms of say Animation for one, something from last summer that definately didn't look that polished, because of the development stage it was in. Just that its looking better than it did, and with 3 months to go thats all there is to do pretty much now - polish.

I've come to the conclusion that in general we need more skeptics and AoC bashers here and on the official forums. When people's expectations are not met, people feel cheated. I started a thread about this almost a year ago on the official forums, and Colbey gave a brilliant line:
"Happiness equals reality divided by expectations."
Strategically what Funcom should focus on doing is hyping the game just enough so that people will try it, but not letting the expectations get too high. People are going to come from WoW and not understand how common client crashes and bugs are in most MMOs, or they are going to read the FAQ from 2006 and feel lied to. So yes, if anyone starts getting a negative vibe from AoC, let us have it and make some noise.

They have also said that they were wrong, and the US/EU versions are going to be full versions and only the German version would have some fatalities cut to adhere to thier own laws.
The US version is not being changed, the existing version was rated M by the ESRB.

I like the look of the world and the graphics are looking nice... My only worry is that the feel and flow of movement is going to feel like EQ2 which felt fake like you were running in place and the world moved under you which is the opposite of how i felt while I played WoW which makes it feel as though you are actually running and moving on the world.
ya i agree..game just looks awsome......i was orginaal goint to go to WAR over this...but thats completly changed.....
