Hey there
Well I bought Vanguard in August last year and I quit playing it after like a week as my system couldn't handle it. I have recently upgraded my system (my parents gave me their PC cos they didn't use it anymore so I upgraded the Ram and Graphics card and maybe the CPU to a dual core sometime soon) and was wondering how will it play on this? My specs are:
Athlon X64 3200+ (2.00GHz, 512KB Cache)
2GB DDR Ram
Radeon HD3850 256MB (PCI-E)
I know you get these threads all the time so any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks for your help and time.

I'm afraid from my experiance and others in game, no matter how good of a machine you have the game runs poorly. At first they blamed our computers, settings and whatever else they could think off, then one day in the official forums they admitted it was their fault and they are working on it. And guess what, they are still working on it. You will be able to run the game, its playable, but i advise you to read some tweek guides to get the best performance with good graphics.
My PC is on par with yours and i managed to level a Necromancer to the cap (50) and do a few "raids" but the performance becomes really bad in groups... REALLY bad... which forced me to stop playing. There are however some patches that should help performance, but many disagree and see no change.
Try and get your hands on a free trial.
I think the game is MUCH more optimized now than on release.
As long as your CPU doesn't end up bottlenecking you (which it might), than your performance should be really good, the 3850 is a great card.
Well the game will play on your system but I'd say stick to balanced as you won't be happy playing in higher modes. Memory is good but your cpu and your video memory will both provide you with limitations that will make higher quality modes more laggy or just slow.
The good news is that as you upgrade your computer things will improve. I have a pretty high end system and have no problems playing on max settings which is something I can't do in say eq2...
So while the engine is demanding I don't think it is inefficient. The only downside is the texture compilation still gives lag in new areas. The texture cache however does do an excellent job caching the textures so that once you run around in the area ll the hitchyness will go away.

The game still runs like a$$. It doesn't matter if you have a $30,000 computer.
Yeah the game still does not run well. I just bought a new computer and tried out VG again just to see how it will run. Still runs like crap, my frame rates never drop below 40 and i still get a lot of hitching.
Core 2 Quad 6600, 8800gt 512, 3gigs ram.
From my experience, with this settings the game will run fine at advanced settings.
I've played VG on mid settings with a semprom 2.8, 1GB Ram and an ATI X1600Pro.
