Hey all, just wondering what I should play... I started MapleStory as my first mmo ever a few months back.. I loved the idea behind the game, the use of AP and SP points.. I did not enjoy annoying 10 year old kids, and the longer grind times after level 56 or so just to level... Plus the server lag was sucky!..
I tried WoW, my friend has played it for 4 years, but I just can't get into it.. I've played a few days of my trial, but I dunno why I can't get into it...
I would like to find something with decent graphics, decent amout of players, decent key controls/customization, etc...
I tried WYDGlobal, but to me it sucked.. The entire layout and menu sucked.. I don't want to spend hours downloading something that may not be worth my time, so Keeping in Mind MapleStory was good for awhile for me, and I also like Military type games..
Any suggestions? Thanks..

p2p or f2p?
Perfect World,Archlord, and Silkroad Online are some of the better completly free to play games.Maybe you wanna check them out, altho I personally would rather slam my balls in a car door then play an asian grinder.
lol OUCH to the ball slamming... Yeah f2p preferred or p2p if it's worth it... either way..
well i dont play f2p games...but if you want a quality game got p2p...but if you dont kile wow them you most probably wont like lotro....but i think you will like lineage 2 ....great game...but grindy though....but not as bad as maplestory ...emmm Final Fantasy 11 is also a great game....litlle hardcore but extremly fun... or if you like cifi try eve online
but if you really really really really really really really want a f2p game like maplestory try out ghost online or grand chase
downloading Lineage 2 right now.. 3 hours left, argh, looks cool though so hope it's worth the wait.. I'll let you know how it goes when I get it going..
are you downloading the trial :0..or did you get it from d2d
umm.... I didn't see the trial where is it?..

here
Is there a US link or does it matter?
no..it dosent matter...emm eu and us can acsees the same servers
Nice.. I can't wait... Well, maybe I can take a nap or something being that I've been up all night...lol..
Lineage 2 is great, but completely ruined IMO. Gold farmers have eaten this game ALIVE. Completely killed everything. Not worth getting into.
This is coming from someone who enjoyed Maplestory as well. I played WoW for 1 year 1/2 and quit it. I loved Lineage 2 but it's glory days are quite over.
So no GM's care, or not enough, or what?..
No idea, I just know there are a gazillion gold farmers all over the place. You'd have to ask someone who is playing right now to see how bad it has become.
Honestly, if you can get through the learning curve of EvE you would probably like it and they have a free trial going. I don't play it because I do not like the skill progression of the game. I prefer using skills to gain them or just gaining levels and spending points... I hate attaching exact real time amounts to learning a skill.
City of Heroes/Villains maybe. Try the free trial.

Only exception I've seen of a free mmo thats decent is Anarchy online...however, that has limits (can't hit top top endgame without paying 5$ a month for an expansion)....but basically its like an everquest game for free.
I think it passes time decently, but I'd stick with a single P2P game that fits what you want if its of good quality. I'd hold off to see how AOC or Warhammer turns out and see what suits your preference, also some new games coming up soon.

Hi, if your downloading from NCsoft, you might wanna check out some of there other games as well, I have found that you can't go to bad playing NCsoft games, CoH/V(sub) loads of fun, dungeonrunners(f2p/p2p) quick lunch time play game, Linage 2(sub) nice & sexy, Guildwars(buy/f2p) very popular game and my newest favorite EXteel(f2p/p2p) althou not a MMORPG more of a MMOG and a thumb breaker at that also free to play.
you also might want to have a look at RF-Online(f2p) and Dungeon & dragons Online(sub) also Everquest 2 (sub)
most games that have a subscription also have a trial or demo download some where, should always try these first.
hope this helps.

I suggest trying out CABAL. F2P.
I have been around it for 2 months and I have to say its the best MMO I have playd in ages.

Good lord, Gaming over load!!...lol But I do appreciate all the recommendations.. I tried lineage 2, and well it was ok, but just things like the huge radar, the camera not being able to lock in place, etc... Just not my cup of tea atm...
I will look into these other games and see what I will download later, and let you all know how it went,,

Kind of maple-story esque.
i am playing Lineage 2 and it is fun but its very confusing and there is little help on the net (no guides). i suggest guild wars. it never really sustained my interest for more than 2 months but i go back to it occasionally and its f2p so you cant go wrong
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
EvE Online. If you do try it be sure to complete the very long tutorial or you will be lost. I would suggest doing some research before you download it. This is not your normal MMO.
All the games mentioned thusfar have been pretty good. I have tried them all, but none fit me for long term .If you want something both casual and hardcore I'd suggest eve online (P2P) (you can progress in some ways while offline - so you could play 20mins a day or 4 hours and still advance further). You basically advance based on real life time....which is rather unique for the game.
Ragnarok is a fun anime-style mmo...its kinda like flyff and stuff like that but I think ragnarok is the one actually fun chinese mmo style one...there are plenty of free servers out there but it does indeed become a level grind at higher levels
Anarchy online is a free everquest style game, but I mentioned the pay thing at endgame (think wow style endgame)
I must say all of them can be fun though, as can guildwars....another significant thing about all the games everyone has mentioned in this thread is that they are not games that are dying out. They don't have as big a crowd as WOW, but their crowds are pretty stable....its not like the games themselves are about to go away either.
