OK now what I'm doing since it's almost Spring is trying to get away from MMO's. I played all the big ones in the last few years ( WoW, EQ2,Lotro beta, Tr beta, D&DO, DAoC trial,GW and a few free ones ). I built a super computer for the release of Age of Conan to be released in December but you know how that went :) Since then I went back to WoW got to level 50 then could not take it any more, was all set to go back to D&D (best by the way)  until AoC or Warhammer release.

Then I caught myself, it's almost Spring, my phone don't ring much any more, had to stop telling everyone I play video games all day and in my free time I read game forums and after 4 hours of play my bones don't feel like working out so I play more.

Then I read topics on Age of Conan and Warhammer about how everyone is guessing on release dates and what one is better.    There bating us don't you see that !

I need my life back and maybe most of you do too !

My game plan is to play an off line game to reduce the stress of having to be there for my Guild and friends that I meet on games every night. I looked into Oblivion but too much like an MMO so I got the Witcher it's an RPG. Great combat and you have to count on crafting potions to stay alive its a lot of fun, I can walk away in a half hour and get something accomplished best of all my stress has gone down and I could get my life back.

I'm staying away from AoC and Warhammer untill late Fall or Winter....... If AT ALL

Why am I here To help most of you. If your on AoC forum your like me, Don't be mad just trying to help :)

ahh but some of us have a wonderful little thing called SELF CONTROL! Staying away may be good for you, if you cant control it. For those of us who game and carry on normal lives... your advice is wasted.

You can abuse anything from drugs, to booze, to women, to games...

Can you get anything accomplished in any MMo in one hour ? ask your self that !

Id say WAR will be the less time consuming of the two.

Go in there deffend or atk the Tier zone your Avatar has aquired.

Defend your home for 1 houre and log off

    PvE is more time consuming.

    If your looking for results.

If your looking for hard core id go AoC

I know WaR will be Fun as hell!

Gawd if you get stressed out playing any game online or offline ya definately need a break. Games are entertainment. Gettin stressed playing a game is like gettin stressed watching a movie. Gotta keep  yourself in check n remind yourself...it is just a game after all.

In spite of your own experience, not to mention what people like a certain female presidential candidate are telling the world, not all, or even a majority of gamers are hopelessly addicted to the games they play. A lot more of us have full, meaningful, lives than people give us credit for.

In some ways, its similar to the consumption of alcoholic beverages, most are able to control it to one degree or another, some are not.

Unfortunately, computer's don't yet come with an attachment that slaps the bejeezus out of the user if he/she's being... unrestrained about game usage, then calls the psych ward if they're just THAT determined.

    Good post :)

The secret is not to build your life around a game. If a game doesnt work with my schedule then its hardcore and i cant play it.

Fun? Isn't that the whole point of games in the 1st place?

  • delete5230delete5230 Member EpicPosts: 7,081

I feel bad for AoC and Warhammer fans. I only have a half hour before I have to do stuff around the house and hop in my car and do stuff outside, and that's ok because I'm playing an off line RPG. I have much more of a feeling that I can come back to it when I can ( instead of TV ). This was my original goal from long time ago when I first started to play video games, but in the last few years I got caught up in MMO's and lost that feeling, and now I'm getting life back !

I'm drinking my coffee getting ready to snow blow my drive way ( I consider this fun also ) when I decided to read up on stuff. I was just reading topics on Chronicles of Spellborn and there just like you people all mad bacause they pushed the release date to Jan 2008.  Some say this is a good thing because it will realease in better shape. I'm thinking to myself they could push it back to 2010 and it still my run like crap no one knows for sure what stages any of them are at as far as being done or good.

Now should be a good time to start announcing all 3 games not last year, Please tell me why they do this ? WELL its to get us all crazy !!!

As stated, late fall I'll re-visit all 3 games decide what one is best AFTER RELEASE using you fanatics as a gague, and jump into the best :).

I'm starting to enjoy topics on this site more from an outside point of view, I love it when you argue.

Anyway time to dress up and go outside !!

I see a Troll as someone who:

    1) Can't back up what they say. ( this is not me )

    2) Someone that is causing unnecessary trouble ( not me I'm trying to help, just like any other topic )

Just think of all the amateur people that will walk out of Best Buy with there $500 computers ( thinking they have a good one )  then into EB games, get any one of the 3 games and think they can play them. I'm thinking millions of them will be screwed !

I will guess 1% know whats up with computer games or know about sites like this. The smart ones will get a game, see it don't play and go on with there life, not invest $600 for a vid card, $150 for more ram, only to find there power supply is too small.

I really have to go outside now !

Does someone who goes onto a <insert topic> Forum and says <same topic> are bad qualify?

  • delete5230delete5230 Member EpicPosts: 7,081

I was just on the EB Games site, why does it list AoC release date 9/1/08. Am i right did they change it ? I'm not here to rub it in, but if so this is just absolutely ridicules. I don't know why I'm still looking at this stuff,  guess part of my would like to continue with MMO's but for now I'm puting my distance from them. I only played my RPG game for one hour today, got a great work out, made lunch and can take a long relaxing shower before work.

If I were playing an MMO I would play all day take a fast shower, and stop at McDonalds on my way to work, and snap at anyone that got in my way !

I'll bet 90% of you are like me, because every MMO I played every one on my friends list and most of my 50 guilds I belonged to were on all day too.

The very notion of one needing to have any sort of external existence is faulty and archaic

It's the information age, these games and internet is information.. where's the IV and total immersion tank? Hook me up, scotty!

Besides the whole "having a life" thing's about breeding and propagating the species (and supporting said propagation with the whole career/family nonsense).. forget that.  Now where's my IV?!
