for anybody out there looking for something new, check out www.entropiauniverse.com, and incredibly complex game, designed with a real cash economy (free to play, but with the option of depositing money into the game in exchange for in-game currency, as well as withdrawing in-game currency into your real-life bank account) although, dont play for that, just play for the game itself, its just a cool feature.   incredibly good graphics, defined as a virtual universe, getting ready to upgrade to the CryEngine 2 (FarCry, Crysis), and also incredibly complex crafting system, that is relied upon by the ingame economy,  without losing the combat system.  huge map, currently 1 planet with two large continents and an island, as well as a space station, took me weeks to explore and obtain the teleport locations just for one continent, been playing for months still dont have all of the rest for the other, cool areas, just fun to look at, generally polite and helpful community.

complex game that is almost impossible to understand without help, so if your interested email me at khasenpflug@gmail.com and ill help you get started(or find someone else to help you if i cant due to time differences

While Etropia is technically free to play, you can't do *anything useful* without spending real money.  Every action other than just moving around requires the expenditure of cash and like spending money in a casino, you rarely get as much back as you spend.  One positive feature is that it has one of the most flexable avatar appearance design screens of any MMO that I've played.

while its true that it is difficult to play without spending money (it is possible, but so time-consuming that its really not worthwhile) the amount of money you put in is equivalent to a monthly fee for any other good game, unless your an absolute idiot and waste your money, if your smart $10 can last a couple months.

i will say, its not for everyone

from what i have read you may be interested in starquest online its on this game sight's list and we have just bullied our devs into getting us a better pvp system we the players designed the only thing is that the crafting is pretty crap but we control the universe and it is always changing
what else there is alot of instant action and some planed tactical stuff involving large fleets and our devs are not too interested in huge piles cash

so it may be worth a look for you

    OP,

I feel yah man. It sounds like we're in the same boat. I keep wishing that UO2 will magically become developed and release itself. :-P. If I could play a game as open as that with updated graphics and gameplay options, I'd be quite content. Unfortunately I haven't seen such a game on the horizon :-/. Sadly my hopes fall on the untitled Square Enix project that has virtually no info released as of yet. I'm trying to convice myself that they are just making the perfect game and it's nearing completion but their just keeping it on the hush hush. See what happens without a fake world to play in, I start making stuff up in the real world.

Anarchy Online: Complex, Scifi, great community, getting DX10 based graphics. Economy is screwed, some classes are pointless to play. But really, its a great game once you got a little money to live on.

Guild Wars: Truely skill based game, yes. For real. Doesnt have crafting, items are a joke. But really, you can geek yourself out for ages farming titles, runes, getting all skills and unlocks. Best played in a duo with someone you know, 3 heroes each. All 8 builds in a perfect symbiosis. Micromanaging 3 heroes and at the same time playing your own character can be quite the thrill. Most people think this game sucks because you cant jump in it, but in reality not  beeing able to jump just makes it a far better game. Click to move wouldnt work, and positioning wouldnt be nearly as importaint as it is now.

The game I have the highest hopes for (except the never to be realeased darkfall) is Guild Wars 2.

I'm in the same boat. I need a new game, I have played ENB,SWG AND WOW. I'm looking for something nearer to ENB (earth and beyond). Jumgate Evolutions looks good, but it's not out yet and I need something now :(. They just don't do space games with the great graphics that wow has. I don't care at all for pvp either. I just like to play games that keep you moving and you get to do different stuff not samo samo. any help would be appreciated :)
