in Final Fantasy XI
ok here the thing...i reactive my old ID at 7/31 and then i got the 12 bucks fees ...is it for monthly fees? anyway at 8/1 i got the whole 26bucks flying at my playonline bill image

    Yes, the book that comes with the game states that prorating of fees is only done for the month that the free trial ends on. There is no pro-rating of fees any other time. So if activate on last day of month then will get 2 months worth of fees for the game.

    Heh  I resigned up a bit ago  to see if my characters were still there....  did it on the last day of the month, they weren't there so i canceled.

    Was charged $12.99 for 1 day.  Guess thats what I get for not reading eh image

    heh, same thing happened to me. Kind of sucks when you want to try the game out again and have to wait until the beginning of the next month so you don't pay twice in 30 days.

    I really am finding Square to have some bad business practices.    Alot of this stuff is burried in their TOS/EULA and  all, but 2 things they openly enforce seem a little greedy:

    • If you quit for so many months, your FFXI Content ID is permanently suspended.  You must buy a new copy of FFXI to be able to play again.
    • As said in above posts, You are charged for a whole month even if you sign up on the last day of that month. I'm not sure if you use the free month included on the purchase of the game in the last few days, if you only get those few days free and the next month charged.

    Kinda puts a bad taste in your mouth, but that is to be expected from big corporations.

     

    The 3 month character deletion is pretty strict... which should be assumed.

    But when you have played games like UO where you can come back a year later after closing an account and still have all your characters on all the servers... When you can leave DAoC for 8 months and come back to all your characters still being there... When you can leave games like Neocron and Anarchy online for +6 months and come back and still have all your characters... You kinda take it for granted.   (They only guarantee to have them for 3 months...)

    Can't get mad at Square though, since after all they were open about it... too bad they are hardcore about meaning what they say  heheh.

    So if you just don't have time to play for a while, say no internet available at the new international job for 3+ months, you have to re-sign up every 3rd month for them to allow you to ever play again? I wouldn't mind losing my characters, but to have to repurchase the game, that's got to be illegal somehow. ::::06::

    That means you have to repurchase the game once a year (total cost) in order to be able to play ever again without repurchasing the game. grrr. ::::11:: I knew buying this game was going to be a mistake.
